Astrid 4th Gear April 13, 2014 Share April 13, 2014 That is why people have being asking for a separate cat for foreigner . Yalor ... if I were a Chinaman, after having bought a Sentosa Cove bungalow, I sure want to grace the front porch / foyer with at least a Bentley, a Ferrari/Lamborghini AND an Aston Martin! Must show face with class right? Liddat, the locals will lose three (3) COEs liao!!! The foreign buyers, I'm sure will request for guaranteed COEs ... and the ADs will then bid high high, to guarantee that! ↡ Advertisement

Wt_know Hypersonic April 13, 2014 Share April 13, 2014 (edited) based on govt "true" intention to discourage car ownership and encourage the use of public transport, coe should be $100k and above otherwise, how to accommodate 6.9M population needs for car? Passat57 3rd Gear April 13, 2014 Share April 13, 2014 $90k invest at 5% return you get $4.5k a year, round figures $90 a week for taxis. Buy car for $90 k must still have outflow like registration, petrol, etc etc. Spend $90 week on taxi, still have the $90k....buy car then have what?? Hi, if got investment with guarantee 5% returns, pls let me know. Don't know what to do with the excess cash nowadays. TIA.

They will buy the cars they want and deprive those 'other' locals (mid level and below people concerned about COE movement) from getting their COEs. Get it? Yes, I strongly support that.Fix COEs at very high price to encourage use of public transport. Maybe even set a minimum salary means test. If INDIVIDUAL gross salary is less than $250,000 p.a., then cannot buy new car ... with, or without loan. If a household wants to use combined income, nothing less than $500,000 p.a. can qualify. Sure work one! En masse shift to public transport will be realized over a 10-year period.

HUAT AH!!! [laugh] eventually, because even public transport also sibey gui, last resort, all walk or ride bicycle. dun be surprise in the next 5 yrs, there will be so much bicycles on the road that LTA will implement road tax on bicycles [laugh]

Meaning if one drive a car it's going to be earning more than 250k. Imagine if the hawker who is driving, but paying little income tax. How to explain to tax man? Revenue so high but profit so low. Atonchia Supersonic April 13, 2014 Share April 13, 2014 I don't understand why in this forum so many ppls expect COE drop, since it's My Car Forum, assume everyone owned car already before joined the forum, why they still invite more and more ppls to become car ownres and tussle with us for the limited traffic facility? what a jam traffic in future! one reason is you want to change car now Everyone who wants to drive has to change car every 10 years or renew COE, no matter what.

Good for IRAS what, if they know you driving, means income certain level, will check the records if it somehow falls below a certain level. Makes everyone's job easier.. Haha.. Baal Supersonic April 13, 2014 Share April 13, 2014 (edited) I don't understand why in this forum so many ppls expect COE drop, since it's My Car Forum, assume everyone owned car already before joined the forum, why they still invite more and more ppls to become car ownres and tussle with us for the limited traffic facility? what a jam traffic in future! one reason is you want to change car now Its not so much invite more. At 15k, it wont invite more like 06-09. At 50k, its more towards car renewel. In a way existing car owners can also benefit. There are many whom can afford cars but stinge on maintenance. Such abuse like heavy smoking & drinking in ur early 20s, will take its toll when pass 40s... For the lich, 50 or 80k is not as relevant as they intend to change car once the 3 yr warranty is up. So the cost of the high coe is partly mitigated. But for the struggler/sandwich/lower mid/upper working, it means disposing of their ailing 7-9yo car for a new 1. This may mean less breakdowns on our roads which is critical given our heavy peak hr traffic. Else these days, its a daily occurance on lalio reporting that here break down, there breakdown, catch fire .........& the resulting "massive jams that tail back to...." As shared, at 15k coe, those new grads in my office earning 2.3-2.5k in CBD back in 06, were not tempted either. At most OPC, but not many. Unless the intention is to let COE >100k for the purpose of negative growth so that even during peak hour, traffic is easy & smooth. But that would mean P8P cant justify the ERP & Satelite charging anymore. Imo, the intention is to balance it such that Bangkok jams are avoided, but yet heavy enough to justify ERP .. or to put it nicely, as we read in the 150th ....its a balancing act..... Would sure work in swinging another 20% to vote against the garmenh first! Then it would become 60/40, the other way. But taking a q from Boleh, his team drop below 50 but still in power .... If hawker wants to buy new car, he HAS TO DECLARE THAT HE EARNS >$250,000 p.a lor! Then he HAS to pay high ITX, in order to buy new car. Garmen wins! ;-) ↡ Advertisement
