Dafansu Turbocharged December 7, 2014 Share December 7, 2014 Heard local money changers offer better rates due to better turnover, than JB. Yes local always better, but this time round, JB is better. Likely due to suddenly massive drop in malaysia value ↡ Advertisement

Spring Moderator December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 (edited) also because no stock ... kosong liao ... must load 1 car of MYR to replenish all MC in singapore ... lol I'm not sure the "no stock" is really no stock or they just hoarding cos: 1) They got old stock bought at higher price so won't sell otherwise lose money 2) They expect M$ to rebound so they want to sell only when it comes back to the price they bought. Above is purely my conjecture but either way I don't expect this to last as the S'pore MC will have to start selling soon esp if the rate remains or worsens. BTW, stock can always get as the S'pore MCs have connections with Malaysian side and vice versa and definitely can arrange for M$ to either be shipped over or brought over physically (this last time they do but now cos of security reason I'm not sure if they still do) Edited December 8, 2014 by Spring

Spring Moderator December 9, 2014 Share December 9, 2014 Last time, you could buy a M$ chq at our local bank; drawn on a bank in JB to go there and encash it. This way you would be assured of the interbank rate plus a small charge of course but definitely better than any MC rate. Then again, this would only be worthwhile if you changing alot and also if you intend to spend the money there. Doesn't make sense to bring it back here esp from the security point of view but a point worth looking into for those guys who need larger sums of M$.
