It will also be posting more temporary signs to alert motorists of route network changes, and continue to deploy traffic wardens to assist drivers.]In its first two days of opening, motorists in Singapore have had more than a few things to say about the country's new Marina Coastal Expressway -- not all of them positive. Many took to social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, posting about their experiences and confusion and warning other drivers to avoid veering toward it. Users such as Nick Goh, who commented on Yahoo Singapore's Facebook page, said their travel times from the Eastern part of Singapore to its central business district were multiplied several-fold, while others said road signs were not clear, with different speed limits on different sections of the highway. Others said the routes leading out of the MCE, in particular at the Marina South area, were confusing and too narrow, and unprepared for the large amounts of traffic exiting it, with heavy jams occurring on Central and Marina Boulevard even on Sunday afternoon. However, motorists travelling westward gave more positive feedback, sharing that their travel time was reduced and traffic was much smoother.

I was right loh... they convert really is just draw the arrows nia... but never remove central divider and road markings. Very easy accident as all 4 lanes lead to one direction but some drivers on the left 2 lanes thought other wise and die die want to squeeze into right 2 lanes... nowadays people do things very fast... but also don't think through... actually removing the "kerbs" blocking traffic from entering Exit 17 is much safer and faster. you all complain somemore, wait they tulanz go change all the TPE , PIE , BKE and SLE to the same pattern. jammed until you all cry father cry mother......... Don't worry. PIE i see their widening of the expressway I very happy!

Phluvcat 6th Gear December 31, 2013 Share December 31, 2013 (edited) I have not tried the MCE yet and do not intend to until the situation "stabilises" and LTA start dishing out proper road information and I may avoid using it as far as possible. I do not want to risk getting into accident due to the chaos at the moment. I am fortunate that at this moment, MCE is not on my "critical path". The other thing that I observed, apart from the land grab in the CBD area for optimisation of landuse (look I do not mention optimisation of east-to-west connectivity), I do notice that now ECP is more like a conduit serving the airport and the financial / tourism district. Pardon if I am wrong but I see it that way. The next time I go to the airport, I better leave home much earlier, or take the train and pray that it does not break down. This simply tells us that the rest of us can go lick a lollipop. Edited December 31, 2013 by Phluvcat
Relagsingh 4th Gear December 31, 2013 Share December 31, 2013 LOL!!! That's why I think you're one of the smartest and sharpest dudes around here. One last rant for 2013... MCE: MOST CRAPPY EXPRESSWAY
Yeshe Turbocharged December 31, 2013 Share December 31, 2013 Actually, I've sort of timed it before. I find that if returning to the West and you have a chance to get onto PIE even during peak hour jams, it's still faster than re-routing all the way to AYE and get stuck at the Clementi bottleneck. If you are able to travel to Balestier, my suggestion is to take the PIE instead. Unless got accident at PIE then any where also no difference with all the rubberneckers. yes i agree, if can travel to balestier, might as well take PIE One last rant for 2013... MCE: MOST CRAPPY EXPRESSWAY u too kind with your words leow, someone mentioned before, Most Co ckup Expressway!
Vhtfhwlego Supercharged December 31, 2013 Share December 31, 2013 There's 3 speeds cam from KPE end towards AYE. how about the other end1 Wah ! Like that also can say, then I would like to give you NO.6 at below: 6 MCE = Minister Cannot Explains Makan Cash Everyday.Actually today I drove from Changi to SGH, used to be able to exit via Keppel but the road is now closed. And I discover, in order to beat the MBFC jam, stay on ECP. ECP after the now closed Marine exit will divert you to underpass which you will reach MBFC in no time. Really disappointed with LTA as so many advice to use MCE but old ECP is actually much much faster.

Mai scared me leh, that's my usual route home from office but have not try yet as these few days didn't go home from office......now think of 2 Jan sweat liao...... by the way, how about the entrance to ECP from Ophir Rd? Kxbc Turbocharged December 31, 2013 Share December 31, 2013 Just my observation this afternoon at around 2 pm when I was driving home from mce to ecp. based on eye power, seems to me that there are at least twice as many vehicles mce-ecp rather than mce-kpe. the exit to ecp is jammed while the kpe exit is relatively unoccupied. the straits Times and a transport lecturer at the nus have both highlighted this choke point but lta has not responded at all nor have they made any changes. come 6 Jan evening and we'll witness another major jam at mce-ecp exit. I used to tell my overseas visitors no need to worry about their trip to the changi airport as ecp is smooth. going forward, I am not so sure anymore.
