When my wife flight arrived, the rate was $40+, we decided to have a drink and half hour later the rate drop to $25 So? I will start to make booking while walking to or at pick up area near taxi stand, if I couldn't get a uber/grab (usually to either select pick up point or app searching for driver) and taxi stand no queue, I will just take taxi.Ok

When my wife flight arrived, the rate was $40+, we decided to have a drink and half hour later the rate drop to $25 My observation from driver's app, Uber surge changes fairly quickly, maybe less a minute. So I heard many riders just wait and see the surge drops. But of cuz there are some who can't wait or don't mind paying extra when they need a ride. I heard Grab surges is less dynamic, it tends to stay for a longer period.

Kb27 Supersonic October 31, 2017 Share October 31, 2017 True, wonder why uber surge can change so fast? Maybe they anyhow de? It's their algorithm. I think the change is more like 1 to 2 min. So if you wait just a couple of minutes, the surge may go from 1.2x to 1.0x, and save yourself some money. But it may also quickly rise.

"Just discovered to my horror that there were more than 75 fraudulent transactions made to my DBS credit card over a 2 week period starting from 17 October 2017. These transactions were mostly made under Uber Europe and Nintendo Europe in foreign currencies. The amounts came up to more than S$4000. While at DBS Bank this morning to file a report, two other customers were there with the same problem within a span of 10 minutes. I can only imagine how widespread this problem maybe. How many DBS customers are affected ? Please Check your bank/credit card transaction details today , especially if you're a DBS card holder." The above messages was posted by someone on the facebook. It seems DBS card had been breached, if you do link your DBS Credit card linked to your Uber AC, best to log in to check your AC if you do have an ibanking with DBS Bank. Actually not only dbs, in fact all banks are at risk. Grab don't too happy as long as there are intelligent hackers around, sooner or later grab will also tio all these. By the way, for those who never activate overseas use for credit card, it is quite safe as overseas hackers who managed to get all those credit card information also no use as they will not be able to use it on uber unless they use it in Singapore. Now the issue is that how did those hackers get those credit card information and use it on uber? Hack from uber or hack from dbs? Hmm.. Jman888 Moderator November 10, 2017 Share November 10, 2017 Uber drivers here must be quite happy now Uber aims to keep its drivers satisfied Adrian Lim Transport Correspondent PUBLISHED 4 HOURS AGO In an apparent answer to rival Grab's aggressive campaign to woo cabbies and expand its fleet, ride-hailing app Uber yesterday rolled out a slew of initiatives aimed at keeping its own drivers satisfied and motivated. Uber drivers now have more flexibility to choose the trips that suit their schedules and preferences. For instance, they will know if the trip they are about to accept will be longer than 30 minutes, and they can choose to pass up on it. Besides being allowed to input their preferred destinations up to twice a day, drivers can specify an arrival time, so Uber assigns them jobs aligned with their schedules. The company has also removed a condition for drivers to do 80 per cent of all jobs assigned to them - called an acceptance rate - in order to be eligible for bonuses. Uber Singapore's head of operations Jonathan Wong yesterday told reporters that the initiatives, which have been piloted progressively from two months ago, sprang from ongoing focus group discussions and feedback sessions with drivers. "Working with our drivers, to our high standards, we may have not done as good a job of listening as hard as we should have," Mr Wong added. Asked about Grab's moves to poach cabbies from Singapore's largest taxi operator, ComfortDelGro, Uber said it does not believe in targeting just one group of drivers in expanding its driver pool, but in offering the same benefits to all. According to reports, Grab is offering ComfortDelGro cabbies who join them as private-hire drivers a waiver of the 20 per cent commission it collects from fares. Carrots, like a guaranteed $10 fare for every trip, are also being dangled. As of early last month, there were about 53,000 drivers who had been approved by the Land Transport Authority to provide private-hire chauffeur services, under a new licensing regime that took effect in July. It is unclear how many drive for Uber or Grab, or both. The two companies have also been tight-lipped about numbers. Assistant Professor Yang Nan, of the National University of Singapore Business School's strategy and policy department, said Uber's latest move is aimed at cultivating loyalty among drivers, who are "at least equally important as riders in this business". Prof Yang added: "From my conversations with Grab and Uber, they seem to share the viewpoint that there is this fixed pool of drivers and the division among players is quite stable." Meanwhile, Uber said it plans to roll out other benefits for drivers in the coming two months. Sources said these include an app function allowing passengers to tip drivers. Uber drivers said they welcomed the new initiatives. Mr Ryan Brown, 39, who has been driving for seven months, said the acceptance rate used to be a "bother". "You have to keep looking at the number... You feel in the back of your head that someone is always pushing you," said Mr Brown. Another driver, Mr Bear Gunashagran, 36, said knowing which trips are longer than 30 minutes will be good for his health. He related a case of having to pull over to a petrol kiosk mid-trip to "answer the call of nature". "Me and my bladder thank Uber for this," he quipped. Kb27 Supersonic November 10, 2017 Share November 10, 2017 Uber drivers here must be quite happy now On papers, sound good. In reality, trips more than 30 mins are not always shown. Add traffic jams and it's definitely more. If Uber wants driver to be happy, put destination info, like Grab. Instead, they skirt around and give useless destination trips. I seldom get a ping when I use destination trips to Yishun or the system give me ridiculous roundabouts claiming it's destination trips. Like last night, I was at Bedok, and put destination trip as Yishun. It gives me 2 pickups at Changi Coast Rd, Tanah Merah Ferry and drop off at Pasir Ris and Tampines. Now, how is that for going to Yishun from Bedok ?

Now I still accept all trips, (without the acceptance rating thingy), but I don't get incentive, bcuz not enough trips. Uber can say all the positive they want. But they can easily just tweak the backend system to compensate. Anyway, my incentives keep getting lower and lower by the weeks. It started at $200, now it's down to $70. I also don't bother much anymore. Edited November 10, 2017 by Kb27
