Ruzmidah 2nd Gear May 21, 2014 Share May 21, 2014 Yeap. The new coins have a steel core (to cut cost, steel is cheaper than copper-nickel used in older coins). And they are lighter too...

Nicholas 5th Gear May 21, 2014 Share May 21, 2014 Magnetic but they never stick to each other? 2 'magnetisable' metals don't stick to each other, only to magnets. Unless u make it a magnet by stroking it with another magnet.

Nzy Twincharged May 21, 2014 Share May 21, 2014 Magnetic but they never stick to each other? They are made of ferrous metals and magnetic but not magnetized yet. so wont stick to each other. Can try using a magnet to magnetize your coins and see if they stick or not.

Can try using a magnet to magnetize your coins and see if they stick or not. There's a bit of ferrous metal inside the coin. I can pick it up by magnetic screwdriver, but after magnetizing the coins. they won't stick to each other. Probably too little ferrous metal inside. ↡ Advertisement
