So he try to defend himself by saying that the girl was wrong for not having proper lookout As she cross road never look at ooncoming traffic. Volvobrick Hypersonic April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 I blame our traffic light systems. Why must green man green light + green arrow at the same time? Like this morning, turning right at Cantonment junction, I've already ensured no oncoming cars and pedestrians all cleared, suddenly got one ah pek crossing the road from my right. Lucky thing for everyone was my car already half body across the crossing and ah pek only halfway through the crossing. Imagine behind me got another cockster, follow through? The cam car 100% at fault. There was no green right turn arrow (green man still flashing too), only green light, meaning cam car had to give way to oncoming traffic, as well as that pedestrian. However gluing to the phone, not observing traffic/danger around her, even when she had right of way, it is still a painful lesson. Lucky singapore road lighting still not bad Or else if poorly litted then pedestian crossing the road at risk cos sometimes crossing is wide and light doesnt cover all. Many people who are crossing the road traffic light green man take things for granted that drivers will be able to see them and stop for them. But do you guys remember an sbs bus who make a right turn at sengkang failed to notice a lady who is crossing the road drive over her and drag her under carriage for few hundreds meters before being stopped by motorist that's when the bus driver realised that he drive over someone. Why I bring out this bus driver turn right run over the lady in sengkang is because it appears similar to the case of the taxi turn right knock onto the lady On the video which went viral and many arguing who has right of way. It set me thinking is it really so important to argue who has right of way when common sense should take place? I mean it's common sense for people to look out for traffic, don't need to Carr whether is it right of way or not. if see danger faster do some actions to avoid it, what is the use of bring right of way so die die don't want give in or take right of way for being granted and think I have right of way so just walk no need look at traffic. Them kanna knocked down how? Blame who? What if life is lost? Can't get back alive and talk again already man. For drivers also too need to drive with common sense too and not too focus of right of way as sometimes there are too many road rules that drivers themselves thought they are right-of-way but in fact is not and keep arguing they have right of way. Again is it so important for right of way to rake over precedence. Common sense should come in place 1st then any other thing else. So I feel it's pointless to argue who have right of way now be it taxi driver or the lady. If the lady would have common sense, she would not have cross the road looking down at handpone without looking at traffic, if the taxi driver have common sense would not drive turn right without looking out for pedestrian crossing the road. You know there is this one time when I was going to cross zebra crossing saw a private bus driven by a PRC coming and I stop at the zebra crossing do not want to cross the road until the bus totally stop as I am afraid that the bus may not stop at all as he is approaching at a speed that although is slow but not slowing down. True enough he just drove pass the zebra crossing without stopping, he seems to have missed me as he is looking at the right to look for the Coming traffic. Should I have been thinking of right of way I would have cross the zebra crossing thinking I have right of way just cross. Then the prc bus driver careless did not notice me and drive over me. I would not be alive here typing already. So I hope that people to drive and do things with common sense rather then insist on right of way. As in when something happen and if involves death, the dead person will not be able to get out and argue that he/she has right of way anymore. Turn right only if green. I know it will delay alot of time for motorists because they cant turn right until arrow turn green. But for safety of pedestrian and cyclist who cross the road. By having this system, other than no worry of pedestrian crossing (pedestrian red) and oncoming traffic (oncoming only right arrow green), thus reduce risk of misjudgement in turning right.
