Janling3 6th Gear January 5, 2015 Share January 5, 2015 Actually we have had migrant workers/colleagues among us for the longest time liao..malaysians, indonesians..etc and we dun have issues with one another but this particular country in question, the FTs seem to have an outright distaste for us singaporeans..always this particular country...keep to their own gangs and dun mix... Yes, the people of these countries actually have helped us build what Singapore is today, be it their professionals or businessmen. I used to work with consultant in building line (Architecture, Engineer, etc). Even their founders are Malaysian born who was involved in building in early 70s-80s. Bengawan Solo was founded in a garage of an Indonesian family living here. I guess, the culture may have something to do with what type of person they become wherever they go. It may be because it is of different era now, where people can just use cyberspace to do so many things including expressing their thoughts, ideas, even frustration or worst like anger. Read the other article by Tommy Koh on wage depression for the lower rung. If there is this fear that you, yes you, can be replaced tomorrow by them because they are cheaper not better, than something is wrong with MIW policy! The onus lies on the PAP policies. The PAP is responsible for the intake of the FTs. The FTs merely responded like any human being could, to seek for a better life wherever it may be. So what you should do is not to yell at the other pinoys who merely want a life here. What you should do is to speak loudly with your vote against the PAP. Vote for more opposition, ensure that PAP does not get a mandate! So they do not have unfettered discretion to wield power over any policies without having to slug their policies out in a brainstorming session in parliament against the other parties who have alternative views.
