Not driven or sat in an electric vehicle before.. is it so quiet it don't even make a whine?

Man... Going to miss those throbbing exhaust notes..

Book a Grab taxi you might get lucky to seat in one. It's hurt your neck every time it pull away from the traffic light.

You are suggestion a solution and then quoting the obvious problem of that solution. [bounce1]

There is no way charging ports are feasible in petrol stations if charging takes a few hours. You expect the car owners to park their rides and come back after a few hours or the next day to collect the car? And the petrol stations would be losing valuable retail space just to cater for a few charging ports as the monetary returns are very low compare to petrol, with few transactions possible per charging port per day.

So I don't expect that to happen lah.

They're not the same problem. We need to solve the issue of charging time first. After that, then need more charging points to encourage take up.

"specialised charging places"? Looks like the general public are still lack knowledge of how EV charging work. To make it very simple term is all you need is this in your car park.

It doesn't matter what or where the car park is, as long as you have this normal power point your are good to charge your electric car without the need and "specialist place or equipments" to charge your EV.

Malaysia did tried install charging point in the forecourt. No very successful idea.

Do you keep your engine running when you park at the HDB/Condo/Office while you having your lunch/dinner/dump/work? Same logic apply to EV when you park up plug it in the socket. And you off to do your business. 2-8 hours later all fully charged when you return to your car. Unless you are taxi/delivery driver thats a different scenario. Even this Grab survive with full EV.

Point is you don't need an EV that can charge in 5 minutes for day to day life. Unless you are doing long distance travel everyday like drive all the way to KL. Even long distance do have a solution with current EV. Take Renault Zoe new 400km range EV capable of non stop travel to KL and find a 22kw or faster DC 43kw charger to charge the car in less than an hour while you having lunch or dinner.

EV come from a long way since 2010 Nissan Leaf. They already have batteries that capable of produce 500km range as well as charge up in less than 5 minutes. It's use matter of the mainstream manufacture will buy the technology or still hanging on to oil company tits.

Yes you can use standard socket but it will take very long to charge.

I think it's more a matter of what we're used to. For us we're used to just going into the petrol station, chop chop refuel then get on with our way. Also not everyone has office job where the car is parked whole day for hours.

Fast charging is a solution but needs to be further refined and developed IMO.

Just looking through most of the new car threads, it looks like a lot of cars are going out of stock, or are in the process of transition.

So the VES is now hitting us.

COE prices may go up this year as people rush in, but next year if almost all the prices go up, COE may drop as people may not want to pay such high prices for the same car given the uncertain economic times..

I wonder if the change to Euro 6 specs involves some specs in which the output is throttled to attain the relevant emissions?
I don't think companies can come out with new engines so quickly?

They had three years notice. NEA made announcement in 2014.

In any case most AD cars are already Euro 6 compliant.

EURO 6 standards have been announced in Europe many years ago.

Long enough for them to get ready.

2040...hhhmmmm might not be around ...

Good luck everyone..

25 years.

Many targets now may change by then.

Well it still seems like a lot of last minute rushing and the average buyer suffers with all the COE fluctuations and the lack of stock of some models.

those who are buying this month should have their car before end of the month. AD had gotten Cat-E coe ready for immediate registration.

They will not be waiting for buyer to make payment prior to getting COE. I suspect if they can't sell it, they will register it and sell it as resale subsequently.

in my visit to showroom these days, I realised there aren't as crowded as 2 years ago and in fact, showrooms are pretty quiet.

maybe the crowds 2 years ago go to showrooms for buffet.

2 years back, less than 3k bids each exercise... now more than 3k bids.

So crowd doesn't actually equate number of bids.

But I agree both AD & PI are snapping up COE now especially Cat E to clear cars then they cant register next year.
