At the end of the day which one is going to be more stringent?

Last time I read a statement from WLTP with new test method the projected CO2 value will be higher that old euro method.

This means same model higher CO2 may cause the vehicle fall into higher surcharge, to be confirmed.

So higher cost to buyer.

 

From another point of view is good for our environment...

I rather NEA take the newest standard NOW.

 

Rather than dropping another ball 12 mths later.

 

This will provide clarity to both AD & motorists in next 5 yrs.

I have posted previous asking which testing method did our LTA based on to get the emission results for cars to be sold in Singapore (and also a comparison of the differences in the test results)... the rest for you to go and figure out.

BTW, WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedures) is the latest emission test standard targeted to be used by manufacturers worldwide, but the real "scary" part is DRE (Real Driving Emission) Test. Check out the details here, in my other post.

All I can say is that expect more changes in the next 2 years, once more manufacturers adopt WLTP & DRE.

Many years back bought my Corolla at about $75000 with a 33K COE. Now COE about 36K and Corolla selling at 99K.

 

I have observed COEs prices have dropped quite abit but car prices still cannot make it.

Many years back the Corolla's OMV was just about %11K and now $18K. The Corolla was equivalent to the VIOS many years ago and each model upgrade lifted the Corolla to the next level. Likewise, the Civic was also a basic car and now a mid-tier car.

To be fair, have you considered inflation over the many years? The salary of SEs and mechanics must also increase with the rest of the population.

 

And the increase by tax is generally only 5k to 10k, anything beyond is due to greed of ADs/PIs.

No idea. The only standard they follow is whichever that yield them more $$.

If omv 4k difference will be about 9k difference in cost price. 9k not significant?

Cars are getting expensive, and it's a worldwide problem, even we take Singapore COE and other taxes out of the equation.

This is due to more stringent standards in terms of safety and emissions, inflation, higher costs of materials, more features added.

The BMW 520 and 530 is ves neutral as per pml documentation. Probably this is based in euro 6. I have the latest coc of the 520 which is based on euro 6c, and based on that coc, it will be ves c2 band.

What happens if I get a car before the ves kicks in or before? The ves penalty is 20k for that car.

 

If I were to buy it before the deadline, would I be affected by the 20k penalty? It’s a euro 5 diesel and omv is 28 k

If registered before 30/6, should be able to siam the VES.

 

Please correct me if I am wrong, that’s my understanding.
