I am not sure I understand the logic of going for a high rebate car?

Sure your upfront cost may be less, but so is your resale and PARF.

Ultimately the so called money deducted is not a true rebate.

that is why the rich folks in MCF calculate based on depreciation and without any loans. actually i rather have a smaller PARF and pay less upfront. cause at the end of 10years , i still can considered to renew or not,  since the PARF loss is minimal.

Currently, A & B is the cheapest Merc.  Since price is not lower, what is the alternative to someone who die die want to buy a Merc?

I also think depreciation is the best gauge.

This is a prime example. BMW 530 vs 530e. Both car has the same OMV. But 530e has 10k rebate.

530e is 13k cheaper (based on RRP). But both cars have the same depreciation.

Hey pal, if you have to compromise your lifestyle everytime they implement something, at the rate they introduces/increases taxes and levies, you probably would live a life of a beggar very soon.

What u quoted reminds me of the boiling frog experiment. Enjoy the beedeo! :D

And....

If problems can be resolved by simply introducing or increase taxes/levies, any Tom, Dick , Harry can be the gov, dun need millionaires. <_<

Everyone works hard to have a better life, ti improve their standard of living.

If you work so hard and yet, things you can enjoy gets lesser and lesser, what's the point of working so hard?

And you slog your life away just to pay taxes?

Take an example of another car with a rebate: the Merc B180..

You get a 10k rebate, which sounds good on paper, but they did not reduce their price that much, essentially the SRP is the same, but the rebates, trade ins are about the same, but what happens is that the 10k is now part of their profit.

However at the end of 10 yrs, you get much less PARF back, so nett nett, it's a loss with the VES rebate.

IMHO, it's best to aim for a car with a neutral band, or get one now that will soon incur a 10k tax.

That's my 2c worth.

Agree. Give you 2 more cents..hehe

Err... we had a Harry in our government. In fact he was our first PM. And some of the taxes and high pay for MP started when he was around and in charge.

He didn't take million dollar salary as a PM hor.

In fact, there was an era that the American President was paid the highest in the world, when he was still PM.
