Currently using a Vivo Y17 bought from Challenger about 3 years ago and it refused to charge yesterday.

It was a cheap phone and has been serving my needs alright.

Thinking of buying a phone from Challenger again.

Any good model to recommend for a budget of around $350?  No need too expensive, just abit better than Y17 will do.

BTW, are phones with NFC more expensive?

if can wait, then wait for Xiaomi or Oppo sale on Shopee or Lazada.

if cannot wait, my usual suspects are Moby Shop, Red White Mobile and Gadget Affair.

nowadays during sale Xiaomi and Oppo for $300 can get 6/128 + amoled display.

Redmi phones are all generally pretty good value. Can consider Samsung a53 if u want to stretch to 400+.

Samsung a53 has ip67, ios, 120hz amoled screen, macro cam, good software support from Samsung so it's a solid buy. Good recommendation here. I'll go for it with a 400+ budget.

Very true, earphone jacks are as difficult to find as virgins today.

So get an adaptor?

Getting old and not keen in learning/getting used to new interface from other brands of handphone.

So thinking of moving sideway (instead of upgrading) to get the Vivo Y21 instead.  I think Y17 is no longer available.

Any Vivo Y21 users here?

My main grip with Samsung a53 is that it's a downgrade from the a52s that it replaces.  An upgrade from a52s would be the a73 (which I shortlisted for my wife to consider). The cheaper a33 has similar specs as the a53, just with different cameras.

I have used Xiaomi and oppo. Both serve me very well and more than adequate for my use. Understand their specs are good for the price you paid, but frankly I don't play games on it, so not sure what it cannot perform 😆

I moved from Samsung to LG, bcuz of all the deadweights apps, SS like to put in.

Got a few LG models, then they stop making phone.

Moved to Xiaomi bcuz of the price. Now so many dizzying models, everyone is producing.

I guess I'll stick with Xiaomi for a while.

My current is Redmi Note 10. I had a Poco that my toddler damaged by dipping into water.

My next upgrade would still be a budget phone, but I like a bigger screen, bigger battery, and a reasonably fast cpu, is good enough. 5G at the moment, I don't think it's necessary. Neither do I game, it's a waste of time.
