hhmhmm....sounds familiar depicting the same scenarios of cyclist taking up the lanes like they owned them here in SG....Major accident waiting to happen?

It happened once, it WILL happen again...then :TT_TT:

we hardly see professional cyclists running into accident because they ride fast, they   take safety precautions, they have good road mannerism, but we keep seeing tour de France wannabe running into accidents because they think they are fast, but actually they are very slow

You are  a seasoned  cyclists, maybe you want to share how fast are the real tour de france cyclists and how slow are the casual cyclists in leotard on our road ?  The other one thing i mentioned is their  safety(lack of) mindset that put them at huge risk of getting run over by fast moving vehicles.

Somehow, I started like you too. 15kmh avg, i suggest you to consider to ride on PCN or some cycling path. At this moment, try to go for longer distance to built your endurance.

Please continue to cycle to keep a healthy and fit body.

TDF Pro peleton average speed on flat road should be about 45km/h for 2-4 hours.

Sprint speed last 300m can goes up to 80km/h

Mountain

 - climb 15-25+km/h

 - descent 70km/h to >100km/h

Individual Time Trial average about 55km/h for 20km.

Now the pro cyclists are advocating training with lights when they are not racing.

Same here, only on cycling tracks or PCN. On pavements I go slow and give way to pedestrians.
Unlike some cyclist who demand their right of way on the road. Only to be flattened by a bigger vehicle. Pesky motorcyclist who lane split and squeeze get what they deserve.
