No. These days the Cup runners up don't replace the winners who have qualified elsewhere. Instead the place is given to the next highest qualifier in the EPL which is 6th place currently and assuming Man City is still in UCL pending their appeal. 1st to 4th - UCL 5th and 6th plus FA Cup winner - UEL (It will be 7th place team if the FA Cup winners qualify for UCL) ↡ Advertisement

U count Community Shield as a trophy? In that case Super Cup and World Club Cup also counts n so Pool on course for Quintuple. Most record books don't count one-off or even 2 game play-offs as major trophies and that's why ridicule it for all u want but League Cup is considered a major trophy as the winners need to play at least 6 games to win it. Edited: Just realise that u may mean EPL as the 4th trophy but let's be honest, that it's only a 1% chance so it's as good as gone in my opinion. 3

UCL winner etc etc to win the super cup, u need to win the UCL or europa first. it make it double hard to win. its not 1 game u go play then u win the super cup, u fight 1 season and won UCL , then u got to go super cup. thats how i see it 😀

Spring Moderator March 3, 2020 Author Share March 3, 2020 There are some who think that Pool lost cos of complacency, keeping their eye off the ball etc and Klopp is pretty adamant that this is not the case. Personally, I also don't believe this and in fact on the contrary, they have been too focused till putting themselves under pressure. I suppose this is inevitable as they were chasing Arsenal's unbeaten records but as I mentioned many times, the records are not important but silverware is. Pool's pressing game takes a lot out of the team and it's maybe no surprise that it has caught up with them and to this extent, Klopp partly to be blamed for going the extreme in not rotating his team much for EPL/UCL games and doing the opposite by going almost totally reserves/youth for domestic Cup games. I would have mixed them up abit to ensure freshness and to have a decent shot at a clean sweep of trophies but what do I know behind a keyboard

I don't quite believe in sporting luck esp in Championships. K/O football like Cup competitions including UCL, I would say there is some luck involved. Just my opinion. Then Arsenal invincibles lucky for whole season? Can't be right. They earned it by being consistent but the thing with that team was like what Pool was trying to do this season, they were too focused on going unbeaten which they did but they had so many draws and the mentality of avoiding defeat spilled over to the domestic Cup competitions n UCL which they all lost. Pool might have gone the same way if they were not beaten by Watford. This defeat will now spur them on to go as far as possible in FA Cup n UCL instead of just focusing on staying unbeaten/trying to win all games in EPL. By the way, Lee Dixon mention last night on the EPL show on Mio that the Arsenal team of 1997/98 was in his opinion better then the Arsenal invincibles team 2003/04. They won the Double that year.

Bottom line is that actual trophies won will be eternally remembered and everlasting than records which when broken sometime in the future will be overwritten and forgotten. Hence it's a no brainer that a double or treble trophies like EPL/UCL/FA win will invaluably means more than breaking records.... lol

Glad to see u are also on the same page With all due respect and not taking anything away from Arsenal, they didn't get a trophy for being invincible. Again I stress that their achievement is fantastic but the record books shows Arsenal as the club with the most FA Cup wins (13) and that's what counts. I'm sure Wenger would gladly exchange their unbeaten record for a UCL trophy and maybe even another FA or League Cup for that matter! Jamie Carragher also says he will take the FA Cup over unbeaten record. He feels Pool shld feel their strongest team v Chelsea https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/11948124/jurgen-klopps-liverpool-selection-dilemmas-for-fa-cup-tie-at-chelsea
Hosaybo 6th Gear March 3, 2020 Share March 3, 2020 Now out of FA Cup for pool. Two loss in a row. Need to buck up and get back to winning or their champion league journey may end early this season. As for the PL title, think more or less in the bag.

Spring Moderator March 4, 2020 Author Share March 4, 2020 I thought Pool fielding a semi strong team (5 regular first teamers, 2 youngsters and 4 reserves) was just about the right balance as it freshens the team up, give some youngsters a game and also the reserves but it was not to be n they lost their chance to emulate Man United 1999 Treble winning team. They now must pick themselves up for the EPL game vs Bournemouth on Sat n followed by the UCL 2nd leg vs Ath Madrid the following Wednesday. I'm quite sure they will bounce back esp as they will likely field a strong team for both games though I would have mixed it up again minus the youngsters for the Bournemouth game and play first X1 vs Ath Madrid.

Former EPL ref Mark Clattenburg said that the goal shld hv stood cos Maguire had deflected the shot n hence DDG had no chance to save regardless of whether Siggurdson was blocking DDG or not. On the flip side, another former EPL ref Chris Foy says it was a no brainer that the goal shld be disallowed as Siggurdson was blocking DDG.
