Tried both diesel vs. petrol. Clatter sound for diesel is minimal but petrol is smoother. The hp is lower for diesel but torque is higher.

Higher hp better or higher torque better?

Given a choice, I take both [;)] .

There are many views on this topic and I am definitely no expert in this area. However, IMO, I will go for more torque for a SUV/MPV. For a sedan/sports car, I will go for more hp.

Ok tks bro for the feedback! I was leaning towards torque for MPV as well esp in our local driving conditions. This Jag I guess being executive saloon Shld be better off in petrol as more refined.

Went to view the car recently. 2.0T diesel version. Handsome exterior though not exciting. But interior design not my cup of tea. Very bland and made me feel like I was sitting in a gigantic bowl. Choice of materials can be better too. Interior legroom space is also quite limited. Doesn't come with knock-down rear seats.

Worried about the diesel clatter.. been hearing taxi diesel clatter in carparks only to see a XF diesel drive past. Was told this is new engine so the clatter is reduced.

XE 2.0D went for 172 999k with lifetime servicing last month

Now at 159 999k, Wearnes has kept pace with absolute coe cat B drop, kudos to them for doing this unlike some other ADs

XE like any new car model is always going to divide opinion. The ingenium for 2.0D will be available for the petrol version later this year.

XE voted the Sgcarmart exec sedan of the year and received rave international reviews (arguably slight bias in some reviews)

Think decent price for a 2.0l new engine with good specs than some of the other continental cars

Saw one in East coast and it's kind of small even when compared with current 3 series.

Does it resemble a jaguar from afar? Sad to say ....Nope.

On the contrary, I think the XE looks slightly bigger than the German competitors like BMW 3 series, new Audi A4 and Mercedes Benz C-class. But the exterior size somehow doesn't translate into bigger interior space. The legroom of the XE is the least amongst these models with the C-class leading the pack.

Also, I don't fancy the interior design. It's quite bland and certain areas are using subpar materials. Personally, I think the C-class and the new A4 interior trumps the XE in terms of design and finish but the last place will belong to the outgoing 3 series.

But sometimes I can't differentiate the new XE and XF well  [:p]

Jag XE is the longest and tallest among the 3 (XE, 318i. C180)

Comparisons

External Dimensions

XE:     4686 x 1967 x 1416

318:    4633 x 1811 x 1423

C180:  4686 x 1810 x 1442

Wheelbase: almost identical

Jag XE has a longer bonnet/front to make it look more sporty, and hence rear space is smaller than 318 and c180

XE is 2L, much higher HP and torque than the 1.5L 318 and 1.6L C180

So drive wise not like for like comparison

In fact its a no brainer comparison, XE 197hp 280 NM much higher than 134hp and 220nM in 318i

Fuel consumption higher in XE

1.5L 318i looks the most inferior among the three

What Jaguar is trying to create is a sports car feel... like being in a tub, in the XE. As a result space is compromised because the hip-point of every passenger is very low. The XE will only appeal to the old-BMW type of drivers where it promised to be the ultimate driving machine. BMW today has gone softer... more and more like Mercedes.

That what my SE explained to me, XE is based on F-type. it is sport coupe body that why the rear seat is smaller.

which she explained that if the usage of the ride is for 2 ppl and kids, XE will server the purpose .

If you need to ferry ppl. XF will be better. in the end. XE will be a better choice for me.

Based on the dimensions provided, XE should be longest and widest.

As mentioned by other bros here, was also told the same thing, its the sport coupe look, and that's why rear space compromised

XE profit margin for AD looks lower than 318 and c180

Diesel actually drives really well. Max torque of 430Nm activated at 1750 rpm.

So just press down a little harder on the accerlator pedal and you feel the car surge and rush forward. Within seconds and traffic is far behind.

Have been driving for a week. It takes more discipline Not to exceed the speed limit.
