The volume like getting larger. Few months ago it was a trickle. I assumed it was AC discharge pipe. But now it's lot more. Any recommendations for plumber? you mean the relief valve leaking ? try to see what is the rating of your valve and see if you could replace it yourself . Otherwise, get a quote from one of those plumbers https://licensedplumber24hrs.com.sg/?gclid=CjwKCAjwyryUBhBSEiwAGN5OCGkij9gzRptplGh9PzrGDMngjWAhZraFZquOIDYv_chaaLlzwJ1kYhoC4tQQAvD_BwE

For my storage heater, it doesn't have a separate relief valve but a combination check/pressure valve installed on the incoming cold water. Check valve is one-way valve for water flow, so water doesn't flow backwards for whatever reason. Pressure relief is to prevent overpressure inside the tank, as pressure is generated during heating. This is a safety valve, to prevent storage heater from exploding. This video is for pressure relief valve replacement. However, this is for American standard with large storage water tank
Lala81 Hypersonic May 26, 2022 Author Share May 26, 2022 OK. I whatsapped a plumber that was previously recommended in MCF long time ago and I had the number. He said its probably the discharge valve spoilt. originally suggested switching off the valves shown in this video before he comes down tomorrow. But still leaking the water. In the end shut off this valve worked. But Toilet no water. Nevermind lah let him settle it tomorrow. I also really confused by which valve does what.

Shutting off the hot water outlet and adjusting the PRV didn't work. So only solution temporarily is to shut off the cold water inlet valve. Somehow the cold water flow to the toilet tap and mixer became very weak also which is something the plumber doesn't really understand why over the phone. But he said will check tomorrow. But of coz, you have to pay for labour, and that's not cheap.

Even when the water heater water was heated up when troubleshooting, the water draining out was cold. So our conclusion is that it's just leaking out into the discharge drain even before entering the tank. What to do. Even the diesel and time cost alone for someone to come down let alone remove pipes, valves etc working on a ladder in a false ceiling. As long as don't cheat me, I'm OK paying lah. After all, I'm also a service provider. Lol. 1
Kb27 Supersonic May 26, 2022 Share May 26, 2022 Regarding check valve (one-way valve), should we be using more of these ? Joven manual does state to install on the cold water pipe. Why check valve ? It prevents reverse flow. Example rust in the water tank can flow back into the main line. What about the toilet water cistern ? You may put chemical or bleach inside to clean the toilet, and we sure don't want any of these chemical to flow back into the main line. And then we may use the main line water for drinking...yucks. So I guess, if I'm kiasi, I'll put check valves piping to any water container, such as water cistern and storage water heater. But that's just me. 😁 1

Now I know there are people who are really KS! 😄 PS I water heater needs check valve as the water in the tank expands and will back flow without the check valve. He also helped rectify wrong position for hot/cold pipes for common toilet mixer tap and helped me change the washer for a bidet spray. my wife said he took about 1hr 15mins to do everything. Hack saw very hard to saw straight. Easier to use saws with a wide blade like those for sawing wood.
