Not home DIY but I had to buy this tools to get to a tiny T5 position light bulb in my car's headlight assembly. It was too far recessed in for my fingers and normal pliers.

Talk about bad design!

I'd take the main bulb off first to gain access...just 2 small tabs that hold the socket in place...with plier i won't feel the amount pressure on the tabs...wowo tabs are easily breakable...my engine bay has many cable ties...😅

Cars nowadays don't encourage DIY.

Last time can replace sparkplugs or bulbs in 15 mins.

Now removing all the parts blocking the access already takes more than that!

And the parts that block, are all plastic clips or plastic parts. They just want you to break more shit. Especially conti, with their biodegradable plastics. Just be prepared to be tok by them.

Here's a small tip, when you're trying to hang up an electrical device by the mounting holes provided :

Instead of trying to measure the length between the 2 mounting holes and then try to replicate on the wall, the easiest way is to put a tape over the holes, marked them. Then transfer the tape and stick on the wall. There you have perfectly aligned holes without any need of measurement. 😁

Good tip. Recently I bought a cheap laser levelling tool to mark the perfect centre on a wall to mount a picture. But used measuring tape to get the width though.

Tis few weeks, been having an irritating noise coming from my pipes wif vibrations, kitchen tap will start having water flow out wen either we use or wen upper or lower units, use their tap.

Noise loud tat can wake up fm sleep n vibrations of pipes n taps, make me worry, will burst. Contacted PUB n checked google, followed their instructions but still no use.

My unit is on 3rd floor of a 12 storey hdb blk. Any ideas what to do? [shakehead]

Identify which tap is causing it. Should be one particular tap. Change out the bugger. 😅

IMHO.

Old resource. Points to tap.

I think it's caused by trapped air bubbles. Maybe the one thing you can try is turn on all the taps at once and let them flow for a while until all the trapped air bubbles are gone. Then closed the taps one by one.

If one particular tap is causing that noise, maybe change that one out.

Might be kitchen tap. Maybe you can shut off the stop cock to the kitchen tap and check if the sound stops. Then if it works you have found the offending tap

How come PUB never come down on site to check le?

Maybe something got stuck inside the pipe? 😅

what's usually the cause of water hammer?

Pressure too high and valves shutting off suddenly. Like the water is moving but comes to a complete stop when the valve is closed. The kenetic energy has to go somewhere in this case vibrations and sound.

Can mitigate with a device that has a pocket of air near the offending tap/valve to absorb the shock waves.

Alternatively a pressure regulator also may help.

I will turn off main valve.  Turn on all the taps including water machine.  Then slowly open the main valve to let the water run on full blast.
IIRC,  my main valve is not fully opened.

but if it's air bubbles in the house piping usually doesn't last very long.

My estate has leaking main pipes. So there's been multiple shutdowns to replace the pipes since last year. The water hammer effect only last a short while then resolve liao after everytime the mains are turned off.

Usually after the roof tanks are washed,  I will purge all the dirty water along with the air.

From my own experience, it is usually due to a faulty tap nearest to the vibration.  Had 2 faulty WC washers in the common toilet and one kitchen sink tap replaced (all insolated case) and problem solved. [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
