First stop was at Toyota

1- Corolla Cross

- decent power

- decent legroom

- plasticky but seems built to last

- tiny cup holders in the rear door, but no real pockets

2- RAV4

- decent power

- good legroom

- plasticky but seems built to last

- huge boot

Dynamic CVT is interesting and their FC is good

The bad bits, are they are only hybrid and the battery warranty isn't for ten year

Few soft touch materials

Price is rather high

Sales staff are the usual Toyota style, take it or leave

Main no no was that I couldn't get comfortable with their seats, somehow the steering and seat adjustment didn't make it comfortable

My current ride is very easy to get in, drive and get a nice seating position, which is why it was the most popular middle aged man's car in Germany at one point..

IMHO.
One thing I like about the Toyota Corolla Cross is that it uses a non-Turbo 2.0L Dynamic Force Engine - less or no build-up of carbon at the valve.
Also the upgraded electric motor. 🤣

All Dynamic Force uses both port and direct injection.

IMHO.
The D-4S Port injectors can keep the valves top clean. 👍
So far I've come across only a single video of a 80,000 miles engine that shows clean valves.
One concern is that good quality fuel must be use.

P.S.  US data.

Getting worse. Many manhole covers sunken in

Not a single region is spared, cant find a single neighborhood area without uneven patching

Agreed lo, almost all the manhole covers on the road sunken in, driving over them really scary.

City square carpark entrance has that steep ramp just before the drop into the carpark...always without fail reminded me of my military truck driving at training circuit course...see nothing but ceiling till the downward facing part with a left bend...only to see oncuming vehicle with driver's glare...becos I turn the steering too late...😅

Ya dive in and dive out. Maybe its deliberate to reduce chiongsters.

Another is Intercontinental at bugis junction. Makes for slow deliberate ingress and egress.

Oh yah...that's the other one with the ascend then the almost immediate descend...also got to watch out at the same for pedestrian crossing behind pillar...😅

The cathay car park entrance, that bloody pillar. Pedestrain magically portal through. I always slow and glare at that pillar.

Sounds like a blind spot. They no install one mirror there.

Yah, not once, usually scratch one side, then kan cheong spider turn and scratch the other side, so never once, always at least twice, and  bang not counted as scratch mah. [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Something that many SUVs may face - big tire prices..

I recently caught up with a friend who bought a Scenic, and they gave him 20" rims. They look mighty impressive, but when he began looking for replacement tires, the prices gave him a heart attack. So he stretched out the life of his current tires, and is looking for cheap replacements. I advised him not to go too low, as those tires are what prevent him from having a bad accident.

No wonder some people resort to Chinese tires and more..

I also checked out a Suzuki S Cross - someone in my estate got one. turbo charged hybrid for 165k net, but I felt the interior wasn't as good as the Forrester or CX 5, and despite the turbo, it wasn't all that quick..

Tourador has the stupid shit Renault grand scenic size of 195/55/20. Brand new tires still better than old ones.
trust the French to do crap like this. I swear I’ll never buy a French car.

I thought avaliable for about $200 per piece, not too ex. My 18" cost a lot more than that.

Yes, it was the interior is very far from Forester but the CX 5 interior is almost like luxury fitting. I kinda enjoyed the booster jet experience, it got that hurry hurry feeling but it was just a little bouncy and could not catch up to a 2 series diesel that I was trailing in the tryout drive.
was told that the x1 is not that great…it has to be the x3.

one colleague got a GLB 35 AMG…wow.

and just caught a SNM 3xxx plate Byd atto3. Nice. But the tires were Atlas…what brand is that?
