  1. Popular burger joint Five Guys rumoured to be opening in Singapore Sources: https://www.timeout.com/singapore/news/popular-burger-joint-five-guys-rumoured-to-be-opening-in-singapore-051419 With rumours flying that popular burger joint from Virginia Five Guys is about to open in Singapore late this year, the local food scene has been set abuzz. If confirmed, this will only be the chain's second outlet in Asia. The first was opened in Hong Kong last year to much fanfare and snaking queues. We can expect more of the same in Singapore if the waiting times for Shake Shack are any indication. The cult-favourite American brand is renowned for its huge and messy signature double beef patty burgers wrapped in foil, fresh cut crispy fries drenched in peanut oil and milkshakes so thick you can eat them with a spoon. Toppings for burgers are free (a magic word for most Singaporeans), with options like grilled onions, jalapeño peppers, relish and more – anyone can appreciate a burger with all the works. Vegetarians also have options like the veggie sandwiches, which come without a patty. Instead, they include grilled mushrooms and any other toppings you desire. Shake Shack, Burger & Lobster, and now Five Guys? We wait patiently with extra serviettes.

  4. Singapore to bid for Olympic with Malaysia ? CNA : Singapore-Malaysia joint bid for Olympic Games an 'interesting concept': SNOC SINGAPORE: The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) said on Tuesday (Jul 28) that jointly bidding to host the Olympic Games with Malaysia is an “interesting concept which has yet to be explored in depth”. In response to media queries, SNOC said while Singapore have hosted the Youth Olympic Games in 2010 and the Southeast Asian Games, it is unable to host the Olympic Games due to the demands and magnitude of the requirements. “We have to tread carefully as hosting the Olympic Games is a massive undertaking which will need the full support of the Government,” SNOC said. This comes after Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) President Tunku Tan Sri Imran Tuanku Ja’afar said having two countries co-host the Olympics is a possibility under the International Olympics Committee (IOC)’s new agenda, in a report in Malaysian newspaper The Star on Monday. “Doing it all on our own may be beyond us but under the new Olympic reform agenda, the IOC allow twin bids. I do see a joint bid between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in the future,” Tunku Imran said in The Star. In a separate The Malay Mail report, IOC President Thomas Bach said there is no barrier for any country to host the Olympic Games. “I hope that one day we can have it here...because Olympics Agenda 2020 offers an opportunity to have an Olympic Games (to be held) in a country, which until now, has not considered (the possibility) to host Olympic Games,” Mr Bach told The Malay Mail, in response to the possibility of having the Olympic Games in Southeast Asia. - CNA/dl link : http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/sport/singapore-malaysia-joint/2012676.html YOG over budget by 300%, this one ....

    Apostherapy

My mom-in-law has chronic knee pain. The most the GP did was inject painkiller and anti-inflammatory medicine. Only recently the pain became unbearable, and the GP has advised her to see a specialist in SGH. I came across this apostherapy in Strait Times advertisement and wondering if anybody has any experience and info to share? Seems like a alternatively healing. So far the positive review are from their own web page. Hope to hear some independent reviews.

  7. A total of 71 offences were recorded in a joint enforcement blitz in the northern part of Singapore on Wednesday to crack down on errant vehicle-related issues like excessive smoke and noise emission, illegal modifications, and speeding. Visible smoke emission garnered the highest number of offences: 46 diesel vehicles were caught and fined up to $500 for smoke levels exceeding 50 Hartridge smoke units (HSU). The three-and-a-half-hour-long blitz, which began at 3 pm, was conducted by the National Environment Agency (NEA), the Land Transport Authority (LTA), and the Traffic Police. Some 40 officers from the three agencies operated out of a heavy vehicle carpark at Marsiling Crescent, where stations to test for smoke emission levels and noise levels had been set up. 13. Are driveshafts/ CV joints things that will wear out eventually even when the boots & grease around the bearing are intact? Or do they only break down when the boots are torn and the grease thrown out while sand & dirt gets in? If it is the latter, would it be prudent to replace those boots & grease while they are still intact when the car is say 4.5 y.o. and 100K km on the odo?
