  1. The heart of this new beast is NOT a V8, or even V6, but a 2.0L IL4 unit! These spec should WOW you more than it's outlook. Max Horsepower: 671 hp / 680 ps Max Torque: 1,020 Nm 0 - 100 Km/h: 3.4 sec Top Speed: 280 Km/h (electronically controlled) The engine is AMG’s M139L 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder as seen on the SL43 roadster and the C63’s little brother, the C43. Like those cars it features an electrically-driven turbocharger, but for the C63 the blower is much bigger. So while the SL43’s gas motor peaks at 376 hp (381 PS), and the C43 tops out at 402 hp (408 PS), the C63 kicks both into the weeds with a 470 hp (476 PS) output. That doesn’t only match the old base model C63’s V8 for muscle despite being half the size, it makes this new version of the M139 the most powerful four-cylinder production engine in the world, and with 545 Nm, it must be the torquiest too. And that’s before we’ve factored in the electric boost that’s also new for 2024. That boost happens at the rear wheels courtesy of a 150 kW (201 hp /204 PS) electric motor packed into the rear axle together with an electronically-controlled limited slip differential and a two-speed drive unit. It can power the car as an EV at up to 125 km/h and for up to 13 km, if driven gently, which makes it sound like a PHEV from a decade ago, but that’s because AMG has prioritised power over efficiency for this hybrid system. Drawing from a 6.1 kWh battery the motor delivers its 150 KW maximum for up to 10 seconds at a time, but is always on hand with at least 70 kW (94 hp / 95 PS), and engages its second gear from 140 km/h once it kissed its 13,500 rpm rev limiter. The result is a fairly spectacular combined gas-electric output of 671 hp (680 PS) and 1,020 Nm, making the C63 not only far more powerful than the old V8-engined C63 S and its 503 hp, or the 503-hp BMW M3 Competition but punchier than super sedans from the class above like the 617-hp BMW M5 Competition. 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.4 seconds (down from 4.0 seconds for the old C63 S) and the 250 km/h top speed can be raised to 280 km/h with a suitable bung to your Mercedes dealer at order time. The electric motor acts only on the rear axle, and you can configure the gas motor to do the same. But for the first time the model operates by default in all-wheel drive. Power flows to the 4Matic+ four-paw transmission via a conventional nine-speed epicyclic auto, but one fitted with a wet clutch pack instead of a torque converter. Rear-axle steering also makes its debut on the new C63, and carbon brakes join a list of standard equipment that includes adaptive dampers for the steel-spring suspension and an AMG Dynamics drive mode selector with a new “Master” mode that allows the kind of oversteer antics C63s have become famous for. Drivers also get AMG-specific graphics in the digital instrument cluster and head-up display, plus a button on the steering wheel giving four levels of energy recovery ranging from almost nonexistent to strong enough to allow one-pedal driving.

  5. Dear suspension gurus, asking on behalf of a fellow friend, he has a current c class 1.8 turbo. ride on lowered eibach springs only, shock absorbers are standard MB items. tires are on 35 profile 19 incher BBS rims ride is not so good and harsh over Singapore roads, was thinking how to 'soften' the ride quality without reverting back to stock. will changing to good absorbers help?
  6. Which car would you choose considering both are priced approximately the same, although the XF is a class bigger than C Class. The XF OMV is ~50k, while C Class is ~33k, but XF is 6 years old model, C Class (W205) is new C Class is a good car, however, the high profit margin imposed by the dealer makes it a less attractive option. Anyone can provide opinion on Jaguar vs Mercedes reliability and maintenance cost?
  7. According to Mercedes-Benz, the new C-Class adopts a progressive approach with its clear yet emotional design and its elegant interior. And I can't really deny. The all new C-Class seems to be a major departure from its forefathers. It looks serious yet more focused, modern and rich. The C-Class is the biggest selling model series from the German marque and launch models will initially comprise the C180, the C200 and the C220 BlueTEC. The all new C-Class now measures 4,686mm long and sits 1,810mm wide with a 2,840mm wheelbase. In profile view, a long bonnet, a passenger compartment set well back and short overhangs define the C-Class's classic, well balanced Mercedes-Benz sedan proportions. Large wheels emphasise the rear and communicate a stylishly sporty character. There is a choice of two different faces. A sporty fascia with a centrally positioned star or the classic sedan radiator grille featuring the Mercedes star on the bonnet – limited to the Exclusive line. While halogen headlamps are standard, two energy-saving LED variants are available - a static system and a dynamic version with ‘LED Intelligent Light System’. The light signature will no doubt mesmerise onlookers and fellow commuters on the road. The Mercedes-Benz designers have styled the interior on a level with the carefully chosen high-class materials and their pleasant touch and feel as well as the precision of the finely crafted details The driver and front passenger enjoy plenty of space and luxury while Mercedes claims settling into one’s seat in the C-Class is akin to the uplifting feeling of being upgraded from economy to business class on a commercial jetliner - although that probably depends on which airline you are talking about doesn't it? A free-standing 7-inch wide central display dominates the centre console while a larger 8.4-inch wide screen is installed when specified with the COMAND Online system. Five round metallic air vents lend the dashboard a sporty touch and adds contrast to the warm look of the other materials – such as the wood in the centre console or the leather on the dashboard. The innovative touchpad in the handrest over the Controller and a head-up display are new additions to the C-Class range. Thanks to intelligent and innovative lightweight construction, the aluminium hybrid body is around 70kg lighter and aids in reducing the vehicle's overall weight by around 100kg. The lightweight construction cuts fuel consumption by up to 20 percent without any loss of performance, while at the same time enabling a lower centre of gravity, for a noticeably sporty and agile handling. Three engine variants are available at the market launch – a diesel in the guise of the C220BlueTEC and the two petrol models, C180 and C200. Five four-cylinder petrol engines rated from 156bhp to 238bhp will be available, including the special C180 ECO Edition. A six-cylinder petrol engine rated at 333bhp will follow in due course. The diesel engines will cover an output range from 115bhp to 204bhp. The C220 BlueTEC will also be optionally available with an output of 170bhp as the BlueEFFICIENCY Edition. A new small diesel engine with a displacement of 1.6-litre will also be added to the range. Depending on its configuration, the supercharged four-cylinder engine generates 115bhp or 136bhp of power and delivers 280Nm or 320Nm of torque. The new C-Class is also the only vehicle in the segment to offer tunnel detection via satellite navigation. It uses the map information from the navigation system and the GPS location data to close the air recirculation flap automatically when the vehicle enters a tunnel, subsequently re-opening it when the vehicle emerges from the tunnel. The new C-Class is also equipped with a unique avant-garde acoustic system while a Burmester surround sound system is optionally available.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_ts8zqAcC0 The all-new 2012 Mercedes C-Class Coupe was spied at the Long Beach Vehicle Processing Center in California by a Youtube user. The lightly camouflaged C-Class with the two-door body was parked alongside other Mercedes-Benz models including a pair of wrapped up prototypes that appear to be the next generation M-Class and SLK roadster. While exact specifications are unknown at the moment, it's believed that the C-Class Coupe will be almost identical to its recently refreshed four-door and Estate siblings under the skin. The engine line-up will likely include the C180 CGI 1.8litre/156bhp, C250 CGI 1.8litre/204bhp, C350 CGI 3.5litre V6/306bhp, C220 CDI 2.2litre/170bhp and C250 CDI 2.2litre/204bhp. A V8-powered AMG model could also be in the cards. The car should come with a comprehensive set of options which include lane guidance, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, traffic sign recognition, night vision, automatic parking aids, cornering lights, and cruise control with brake actuation. With the introduction of the C-Class coupe, the CLC model will be dropped off. Below are the leaked official photos of the new coupe. Enjoy!
  9. Mercedes Benz has made it official: the 2011 C-Class Coupe is on its way. The German luxury automaker has announced that it will build the two-door C-Class at its massive Bremen plant, which is already churning out the C-Class sedan, wagon, GLK, SL and SLK. Production for the C-Class Coupe is scheduled to begin in 2011. The C-Coupe Coupe will replace the CLC model and will likely be sold at about the same time as the facelifted C-Class four-door and five-door versions. The addition of the Coupe gives Mercedes Benz three different variants of the C-Class, with a convertible almost certainly to follow. With the introduction of the C Class Coupe, it will be interesting to see how the German automaker plans to differenttiate the new model with its bigger brother, the E-Class Coupe. The bi-door E-Class already utilizes the C-Class platform, and the more expensive E Coupe is almost identical in every dimension to the C-Class saloon. Mercedes may shorten the C-Class platform to better differentiate the C Coupe from the larger E Coupe. Anyway, it's a good bet that we'll know a lot of these answers by the time the Paris Motor Show opens its doors to the media in September 2009.
