Yoo, finally ventured back to MCF and see its still thriving! Who here is from the old ICE days (2005-2008 era) :) I started my ICE journey in MCF, hahaha, saw some familiar user IDs!

Hello fellows, Are there any good speakers for a recommendation? Can name me a few of brand? I preferred good speakers, not the super high-end type (e.g. audiophile) because I do not intend to put the woofer in my car anymore as I need the space. So when I have the low taken away, I need to get a replacement to cover it. Again, I do not that super low end as well.

Hi guys, I have Alpine ICS-X8 that has a problem now..I can play anything from USB,or CD without any problem. But when I switch to radio, no sound at all..I even cannot change the channel..Anyone has similar experience before?any advise? please share if you guys have any..thanks

I'm driving an 08/09 legacy gt that comes with the stock Macintosh audio system and the headunit is integrated into my centre console. A common issue with these is that the in-dash cd changer will jam after a few years and that's the problem I face now. Most owners tend to install an aftermarket HU, although some used to get the Macintosh HU sent to the agent or something for repair. Thing is the legacy forums were shut down and it seems that the previous batch of Legacy owners that used to "play audio" aren't active on the FB legacy page so I have not been able to get a recommendation for a shop that can help me out. All I need is to get the CDs removed from the changer, no need for repair of the HU. I'm selling the car soon and this is one of the things I want to get sorted before I put it for sale (some of the CDs got sentimental value to me). Does anyone know of any shops that deal with Macintosh HUs or any other shop that is willing to give it a try? I approached a shop that previously did a stock sub replacement for me but they refused to even try. I know there's a risk of the CDs getting damaged but I'm willing to take that chance and even leave the car at the shop for a day or two if necessary, I just really want those CDs out.

For those who want the most out of their car audio system, a digital signal processor can help. After some slight adjustments, your system will sound like it has been professionally tuned and optimised. There have been rumours that if your speakers are good enough, you won't require a processor. Unfortunately, this isn't the case because it's the environment that creates the need for a processor, not the speakers. Digital signal processors (DSP) Most Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) factory fitted stereo systems are underwhelming in terms of quality sound. Well, they may have convenience features like iPod inputs, Bluetooth hands-free and steering wheel controls but they lack the ability to fine tune audio performance as well as add extra amplification. Most OEM stereos are also designed to compensate for low quality speakers, which is accomplished by artificially manipulating the frequency profile. When inferior original equipment speakers are replaced with high quality aftermarket units, this manipulation is often very easy to pick up on and if an amp is also installed, the problem will only get worse.
