  1. FINALLY! Some positive and heartwarming news to share. Thanks to Mothership for breaking it down into gif. https://mothership.sg/2021/06/traffic-police-officers-push-car/ According to the driver, Tan Wei Boon, his car's alternator was facing issues, and subsequently, the vehicle stalled and could not be jumpstarted again. An alternator is a type of electric generator that charges the car's battery and power the electrical system when the engine is running. Tan was out buying dinner for his colleagues back in office when the incident happened. During his failed attempt to restart his car, a black Mitsubishi Lancer, a police patrol car with its blinkers turned on showed up at the scene. It was drizzling at that time. In the video's caption, Tan wrote that he felt stressed when he saw the police approaching him at first. However, the pair of police officers who emerged from the patrol car then ran towards Tan and his stalled car. It turned out they had arrived to give the driver a hand by pushing his car out of the busy intersection onto a smaller road and into a nearby housing estate car park. The video extracted from the stalled car's rear camera showed the two police officers pushing the car from behind while the driver steered. The two officers had their face masks on at that time. At one point, the driver could be heard asking one of the officers to switch places: "Exchange now, I push, you drive?" But the officers continued to push the car to the nearby car park while the driver steered. Right after this short conversation, a car with hazard lights turned on slowed down behind the officers pushing the car. It appeared that the car was deliberately providing a buffer between the officers and oncoming traffic. However, the driver of the car then got out and ran towards the two officers and helped to push the stalled vehicle. As the car was pushed past a bus stop, the driver who got off his car to help called on public transport commuters to help out. One of them then joined in to push the car as well. According to the video's caption, the total distance the car was pushed was about 200m. Tan said he created the video to create awareness about the kind actions of all those who assisted. He also said he has written in to the police to compliment the public spiritedness of the police officers who stopped to help.

  3. https://mothership.sg/2020/06/sheng-siong-donate-funeral/ A good deed by shengsiong, according to the comments/screenshots on mothership SS has been doing this since years back.Respect! 百倍百倍 One man, Caleb Low, wrote a post about how he was helping out at his wife's grandmother's wake when a male stranger came over and tried to quietly slip S$200 into the money collection box. One of the relatives stopped the stranger and said that the collection box was only for guests and relatives. After some probing, the man revealed that he was working at a Sheng Siong supermarket. The man then informed the family that his management had told him to look around the estate for wakes during the circuit breaker period and make a financial contribution. The relative then made him sign the book as per the practice of record-keeping. The man just left his name as "Sheng Siong Supermarket". Low added that he tried to tag Sheng Siong in his Facebook post but the chain untagged itself immediately。
  4. https://www.carscoops.com/2019/10/woman-hits-red-light-runner-and-saves-pedestrians-from-alleged-drunk-driver/ The Phoenix Police Department is calling a Chevrolet Cruze a “hero” as it protected a couple from an accident. According to officials, a 27-year-old woman was driving the Cruze at the intersection of 53rd Ave and Indian School on October 14th at approximately 10:10 pm. As you can see in the video, traffic is stopped at a red light and the couple begins crossing the street while pushing a stroller. About six seconds into the clip, a Jeep driven by Ernesto Otanez Oveso blows through the light and is headed straight for the pedestrians. Fortunately, the Cruze slammed into the Jeep. The force of the impact pushed the Jeep off to the side and caused the woman’s Cruze to go into a spin. Thankfully, the crash saved the pedestrians and they can be seen running across the street. While the clip ends there, the police department said Oveso and his female passenger fled the scene. However, a witness saw what happened and decided to follow him. Oveso eventually noticed and told the man to stop, “even stabbing one of the doors on his car.” The woman got away, but police caught up with Oveso who was arrested on aggravated assault and DUI charges. Police also found a gun in the Jeep, so they slapped the 28-year-old with a prohibited possession charge as well. Unfortunately, the story doesn’t have a happy ending as police confirmed the Cruze driver suffered non life-threatening injuries. Her car was also significantly damaged.

  6. God bless him. Real big heart in doing his part for the needy. In cool weather, restaurant owner delivers blankets to those sleeping on the streets in Chinatown 1 of 2 Mr Francis Ng (left) delivering a blanket to carpenter Chua Yong Sia, 61, who has been sleeping homeless in Chinatown for the last few years.PHOTO: LIM MIN ZHANG PUBLISHED5 HOURS AGO UPDATED43 MIN AGO FACEBOOK1,993TWITTEREMAIL Lim Min Zhang SINGAPORE - While many are sleeping comfortably at home in the cool weather, some people spending the night on the streets get by without a blanket. The sight of an old man in Chinatown shivering while trying to sleep moved Mr Francis Ng to action last week. Since last Thursday (Jan 4), the restaurant owner has been giving out blankets to those sleeping on the streets, mainly in mature estates such as Tiong Bahru, Redhill and Toa Payoh. He estimated that he has given out more than 100 blankets so far. They cost around $10 per piece. In the early hours of a rainy Saturday morning (Jan 13), The Straits Times followed Mr Ng, 44, on his solo mission to do good. In about an hour, he delivered nine blankets in Chinatown to mostly elderly men. Some of them lie on benches and reclining chairs, while make do with a piece of cardboard on the ground. The heartwarming act came amid the cool spell in recent days.
