Following from the earlier thread on how we move forward, let's realign what constitutes the above accordingly so that we can ALL be on the same page and start threads without any hesitation. Rationale: Threads were merged as the same discussion was duplicated in different forms and the posts cut across different threads, fragmenting the discussion and making it difficult to read. Same topics of the SAME issue were posted and thus, the SEARCH function was encouraged so that the general MCF population did not have to sieve information unnecessarily, ie, all were consolidated Starting threads on the vein of getting the thread of the month leading to numerous additions Thus, on that vein, the SAME topics were then merged. Going forward, it has been too successful and perhaps diluted the threads with posters posting topics under a SAME/SIMILAR thread that had no specific context. I apologise for that as it may have been too zealously praticed. That said, the list below could serve as a possibility of variations (non exhaustive) of what constitutes merging/splitting of threads What kinds of threads could be merged? Threads of the SAME issue posted in the day/last few days that is bordering on the SAME topic. This leads to fragmentation of threads /discussions that makes for difficult reading. Threads with a trend of occurring almost every day. Case in point SMRT breakdown. If threads were to created daily on SMRT breakdown, 70% of threads will be on that. Other possibilities are flood, reckless. hoggers, etc. If at all, it's good to see big trend of the same incidents occuring What stands as a NEW thread? Any new incident that occurs, that is newsworthy. (However, this again can be debated, for eg, the OTC mountain. Clearly there was no merit in starting a new thread there that may just last 20posts and die off. Another case was the crocodile sighting where it was added in and the thread renamed on the different sightings in sg. Helpful to see a trend) New ROAD trips New cars released - reviews could be posted under this thread too These are some of the thoughts that I personally have, and it is on the premise of making things more consolidated and reader friendly. The disadvantages that could arise are: Threads run a short life and just die off. This would be natural progression of interest in a thread, Ambiguity and posters can still drift on a particular topic in a specific thread making the need to split posts from threads more prevalent. Please add on and @therock did have some thoughts so do add on here. Thanks and these are just MY thoughts

I know this happens often on our roads filled with rude drivers, but this one really makes me angry. This lane merge is already so dangerous, this taxi still squeeze in. If I did not siam him, already bang. Make me really pissed off that I am going to write into Comfort. I don't usually do this kind of thing one because it's their rice bowl, but I think this cabbie deserves the s--t.

From Yahoo News : SDP, NSP merger on the cards? A possible merger could be on the cards for two political parties: the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) and the National Solidarity Party (NSP). SDP member Tan Jee Say, 57, -- who contested in the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC in the recent General Election -- told Yahoo! Singapore that he had met NSP's secretary-general Goh Meng Seng for breakfast on Monday morning and had floated the idea of merger. He said that the cooperation within the two parties would allow resources to be mobilised in an efficient manner. Tan added that the option of "merger" had also been discussed internally within the SDP, together with the party's secretary-general Chee Soon Juan and that the meeting was "not a secret". In a statement released by the SDP on Tuesday evening, it pointed out that contrary to reports that Tan had approached the NSP, the merger idea was brought up through a casual chat after Tan had "bumped" into Goh . However, the SDP said that it is for closer cooperation among opposition parties, and added, "This is what the SDP has been advocating all along. We are happy to work with all opposition parties to achieve our objective of strengthening the opposition in Singapore." Meanwhile, Goh also reiterated the point that the idea was just floated during a casual meeting and nothing "concrete" has been reached. He added that he will also discuss the proposal with the party's central executive committee (CEC). Echoing this point, Tan said that both parties are discussing internally with regard to this prospect but nothing has been finalised. "At this moment, there is nothing concrete, so I don't want to excite the public further," he said. I don't quite like the ideal of NSP merging with SDP .... All because of the past outburst of SDP Chairman CSJ although he had been quite this time round during GE 2011. Another report in ST today stated that the 3 parties, NSP, SDP and SPP would merge to form 1 party to tussle with PAP & WP. My take was NSP to merge with SPP which look much stronger. I am not against SDP party members but still sore over how CSJ ousted the founder of SDP, Mr CST ......

Just want to rant a bit... Not too pissed but just feel that traffic can be much smoother... I use the PIE (Changi Airport) and exit at Lornie Road exit to get to Sin Ming Road. There are 2 lanes at first but it merges into a single lane. Can I please plead for the drivers who uses that road to just merge into a single file according to the lane markings? Don't you think it's quite dumb to "compete" with each other only to result in an accident whereby the cars brush each other? The traffic will definitely be smoother if everyone just merge. The exit into Lornie road is only so wide so come on... Okie... Feel better now...
