  1. Some time last year, my phone totally died on me, forcing me to purchase a replacement - apart from the money, I wasn't really complaining, as I have been eyeing the Xiaomi 13 Pro for quite some time, clearly impressed by its camera's prowess. Everything about the phone was great. As the flagship model powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Gen 2, there's no concern for processing power, and my only gripe was that I could only afford the 256GB variant... After spending some time with it, I found a serious problem with the phone - the curved edge of the display! I'm going to explain my hatred for this feature. Yes, some might think that it is a pretty design, but in reality, there are just too many cons to justify it. Pros: Larger screen to bezel ratio Allows the phone to look slimmer Cons: As the curved edge is still part of the display, the extreme edge of the content that you are viewing might fall into that curved area and get slightly distorted The curved edge is still part of the touch screen, and hence one-handed operation of the phone will easily result in accidental touches by the fleshy part of your palm (there's even a setting for you to adjust the unresponsive area near the edge of the screen - even the phone manufacturer knew it was going to be a problem!) Setting the area near the edge to be unresponsive can also result in issues - certain apps, games or programs might require touches near the edge to operate and this could break the experience. It's impossible to get the perfect tempered glass screen protector. As the curved edge require a curve tempered glass piece, seamlessly adhering it to the screen becomes an issue. Tempered glass manufacturers have came up with two solutions - a really thick adhesive layer, or a thin UV-cured liquid glue. With the former, touchscreen responsiveness is subpar and operating the in-display fingerprint sensor can be an issue, and with the latter, it doesn't take more than a couple of weeks for the edges of the adhesive to wear... In my opinion, this is a design feature that I can absolutely do without. Thankfully, it seems that the latest Xiaomi 14 Ultra no longer has this annoying and useless feature. - Zhi Xuan
  2. Honda has filed for the patenting of touch-sensitive window tint and the patent will allow users to control the windows’ tinted area via touchscreen-like inputs. Seen on paultan.org, the ability to darken windows using electro-photochromic technology is not new but no manufacturer has allowed the occupants to control the amount of shade via pinch movements. While the image suggests its application for a vehicle’s side windows, the technology could be applied to the front as well as the rear windscreen. This could be the end of sun visors if this feature appears in its production models!
  3. Hi, I was trying to look for a suitable landline phone for my starhub $2 homeline. Since everyone is using a smartphone now, I thought this may be suitable, if available. Touchscreen, large screen, apps (linked to home wifi), etc. Does anyone know if there is such a device? Cheers!
  4. Dear bros, my 2007 GS300's touchscreen is faulty as I cannot press any buttons on the screen now. Would anyone know where I can fix it without going back to Borneo? I prefer not to go back to Borneo because it will be expensive and the car will last me another 3 years only. Kam siah to all.
  5. Anyone ever try this way of turning your laptop or desktop to a touch screen monitor? It is of a low price and anyone got lobang or other brand that is better? I thinking to get one? P.S: I DON'T WORK FOR THIS COMPANY and not trying to promote them. DUO
  6. My phone got killed this morning after endless dropping from and squashing on the bed. So. Can anyone recommend a phone that has a physical keypad and a full touchscreen? Operationally defined: Physical keypad meaning real buttons, not on screen virtual keys - I find the latter not comparable to the former in terms of typing speed. Full touchscreen meaning the ability to tap anywhere on the screen at any point in time. An example of what would NOT be a full touchscreen phone would be Aino from SonyE. The touchscreen works only in music. many thanks!
  7. Am looking forward to upgrading my mobile with Singtel and am looking at purchasing the above touchscreens. seems that most of their features are about the same leh just like to know your views on which is a better buy my criteria ver simple: * must have touchscreen * must have GPS.... preferably with lifetime voice navigation * budget not more than $500 , thats why HTC is not in my shortlist

  11. I'm looking for a 2DIN Touchscreen HU to fit my ride's unique front dash structure. If I put in the usual standard 2DIN HU, it will stick out about 3/4 inch due to the obstructing metal frame structure behind. I believe the reason for the depth of most HU is governed by the need for space by the inbuilt DVD/CD drive. Thus, can anyone recommend me a 2DIN touch screen HU that does not have DVD/CD drive(therefore shallower). I'm intending to integrate it with my car's stock integrated HU and sound system. thanks!
