Kdk ugly. Lol

And anecdotally their DC fans don't last super long. It's their AC Fans which are like 打不死的蟑螂。lol

I still have many KDK AC ceiling fans, almost all of them have capacitor noise.  I engaged electrician to replace some of the capacitors but some still have noise. I have progressively replaced some of them into DC fans and I am happy with them. All are cheapo brands from fanco to fantec and dont know what, so far none spoiled. Since they are so cheap, I will not repair them if they breakdown, just get them replaced.  I cant recall seeing any presentable KDK DC fans in my memory.

FR….Field Report la. 🤪

Anyway, I have no issue with my KDK wall and ceiling fan. Many years liao.

But if you want to buy KDK stand fan, get the Panasonic one also can. Exactly the same and I remembered it’s cheaper.

Save $10 I think. But some might say Colour not nice! Would pay for Colour and brand logo.
Vw, Skoda, seat all sama 😂

Wrong capacitor used or wrong capacitor changed! Many in the diy forum have replaced with good luck.

Yeah I have plenty of Panasonic small standing fans. Can last quite long but not forever.

Kdk DC fans also need pcb replacement one lah.

Look at what Atrecord says. Anecdotally that ties in with all I've read before.

yup.

The technician that KDK sent - he was a freelancer - when i asked him why KDK nowadays spoil after few years, unlike the ones i saw in my classrooms when a kid - those never ever spoilt - to which he said if things last so long, the company how to survive...

Oh for sure. But mine was 10 year and counting. Other brands clearly start failing much earlier.

Everyone can have their own opinion, it can differ but it doesn’t cancel someone else’s experience out.

my KDKs PCB started having problems around i think 4-6 yr period leh... so disappointed.

we actually got the tech to come look at my girl's room one only, as it gave a really loud squeaking sound when switched on. The room is the furthest from the main door.

after assessing, told us PCB needed replacement, and said something like $80, plus got think $30 transport. LL had to do lor...

then after done, while on his way out, walked past our master room, saw the same model, so he asked if we want him to check too, since he's already here (and we're going to pay the $30 transport already)... so ok lor, let him check - thinking that it should be all right cos doesn't have the sound.

then when he checked, told us the PCB got bit spoilt too, and showed us the timer doesn't work anymore... we were like, wah lao... originally didn't want to change but he said if next time call again, will incur another transport of $30... so... shit, change also lah...

finally, after done, and walking out, at our living room, saw the bigger KDK, and asked us the same question...

you guessed it, for the same reason, we said check lor... and when he tested the remote (without looking at the PCB yet), told us of 5 speeds, speed 4 and 5 are the same, so the PCB is also pai liao...

and shit, this bigger fan, the PCB is $20 more ex...

So, from thinking KDK is last long long, became "repair/change one become repair/change all three"...

can't say KDK fantastic anymore...

On Panasonic, my grandmother bought one box fan, when she went to my parents' flat to sleep probably 30 yr ago... It's still working now... a pity that maybe 20 yr ago, my nephew pushed it off the table accidentally and the revolving cover broke... but the motor was ok and it still turns perfectly. I then took it to my office as standby to use when i had to work OT or after central aircon is switched off. didn't use it a lot, but last month tested still working...

really power...

The box fan in my mums kitchen is older than me. Other than very difficult to turn its knob switches. Still working. Revolving cover and all.

hmm... what brand of fan ? looks dangerous. 😄

'Threatening to harm our reputation': Company on 'aggressive' customer demanding $5,000 after fan's blade broke

Though this predicament was brought about by a fan, it's quite certain that neither party is a fan of the other.

Local company Point One Technology has called out one of their customers for being "aggressive" after the latter's ceiling fan broke to which she subsequently demanded $5,000 as compensation.

The company had sent out a press release regarding this incident on Tuesday (Dec 26).

Their customer, Sandy Ong, had posted a video of the incident which took place last month on Facebook group Sg Renovation on Tuesday too, along with pictures of the damaged fan.

"The most harrowing experience in our lives," Ong wrote on her post. "Can't imagine what would have happened if our kids were home at the time."

In the video, loud crackling and rattling sounds can be heard before a fan blade falls into view, colliding with a portrait on a wooden shelf before spinning out of sight.

Then, another black piece of plastic identified as the "trunk" of the fan also falls at the other end of the room, hitting a table before tumbling to the floor.

"The impact was deafening as the fan was going full speed," Ong wrote in the post's comments, adding that the fan was installed four years ago.

"In our personal experience with the brand of this fan and this incident, we strongly do not recommend the brand. Not only was the incident so distressing, but dealing with them was too."

according to the company, the fan was installed by a third party, not sure it was outsourced by the company or engaged by the buyer himself, I would think it is engaged by the buyer himself. Based on the investigation stated by the company, the blade was screwed by only two screws when it was supposed to be four, this has given the company to deny any single cents of claim already, including warranty.

That’s really unfortunate. It almost sounds like one of those workshops that offer free checkups for your aircon.

In my case my fan was one of the mid/upper range 5-bladed models, and used it a lot as it was in the living room. Never had a reason to even ask a repairman to come, though.

the box fan cost >$100 when new. Those days fans were not yet very cheap, and i think my grandma wanted a decent one...

The fan itself can work still, all 3 speeds, but the revolving cover that can oscillate, took a direct hit when it was knocked down by my nephew, so the wholnot e cover got dislodged. Essentially only blow at one direction lor... since no more oscillating/revolving cover. This was fine for me in office, but not so useful at home anymore as it'll only blow at one area...

my living room one also 5 blades, 5 speeds.

two bedrooms' ones are bit smaller, 3 blades, 3 speeds.

my girl often hides in the room and will on it like most of the day... but that's now and when we first moved in, she was still in P3 so was still in the living room often. but it was the first to spoil...
