Actually, chances are it doesn't fit. The grille shape also changed, not just the grille pattern itself.

 

But to be honest, the pre-FL Mazda 6 was already a good-looking car. I missed the golden window when they lelong lelong clearing the stock before the arrival of the current FL model.

I think it's a matter of needs.

 

In terms of interior and boot space, Skoda superb wins no contest. It even beats out VW Passat.

 

In terms of exterior appearance, I have to give it to the Mazda 6. It has always been a handsome sedan.

 

Engine wise, Superb is 2.0L Turbo. On paper it's fast, 0-100 in 7s. To even get close to that kind of power, you need the 2.5L Mazda 6. Even then on paper the engine is inferior to the Superb's. But bear in mind that turbocharged engines need more care and must respect service interval.

 

Refinement-wise, Superb L & K has some fancy interior stuff like adjustable ambient lighting, suspension setting change, etc, typically seen in higher-end Contis.

 

Safety specs wise, Superb doesn't have autonomous braking, and no heads-up display which you can get from Mazda 6 from Executive trim onwards. Other stuff like adaptive LED headlights, only Mazda 6 Luxury trim have. Skoda still using Bi-Xenon headlamps, even in their highest L & K trim.

 

So all in all, test drive both. See which one fits your needs and your wallet.

you forgot to mention that Mazda 6 will outlast Skoda Superb in the long run.hence,much much cheaper to maintain and less problems from a Mazda.

Agree that it's pretty good VFM. However, don't forget that Eyesight is on entire of Subaru's line-up, including their "entry-level" Impreza and XV.

 

You're missing out mainly on safety and convenience features with Mazda 6 standard vs executive.

 

But those are nice to have, not exactly essential if you're already a seasoned driver.

wish there was a safety sensor to make sure that drunk drivers do NOT hit us...just kidding.anyways,my ES comes with all sorts of safety system but yet I am not using most of the time.feel some safety sensors are a huge distraction while driving,with the sound buzzing and vibrations.

There was a period of time around early July 2018, when the COE for Cat B was already fairly low, and TEK was pricing their pre-FL Mazda 6 very aggressively.

 

IIRC, the price for their 2.5L was going for about $123k thereabouts.

 

So yeah, the window (low-ish COE + lelong lelong) was very narrow. By the time my wife and I decided to go down to have a good look at it in the showroom (late July 2018), the deal was over and the new model was in showroom.

Indeed pre FL is already good looking but I had the chance to drive my neighbour's when swapping the rim with my FL mazda 6 and I found the following :

 

- interior is more simplified and classy especially the cool horizontally incorporated door lock handle

- hidden HUD is more hiend and effective compared to the plastic flip up screen

- front grill is less old fashion of chrome strips

 

Most importantly, while some FL owners still complained on noise aspects, the pre FL is obviously quite a noisy car.

 

On the preFL, it was somewhat more response and not sure if due to my FL then being 1 month new compared to neighbor's 6 months old preFL one that is probably betta run in

Yes. To a seasoned driver, even a sedated one such as myself, some of the features are sometimes distraction and hindrance as opposed to being a help.

 

For example, the lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning and the blind spot sensors.

 

Blind spot sensors don't help me very much because of the way I adjust my wing mirrors. I don't have blind spots. The only exception is under very heavy downpour where visibility is just s*** anyway, then it's great that there's a radar looking at the other lane to warn me there's someone there.

 

Lane departure warning (LDWS) is annoying sometimes because the system cannot distinguish the lane markings on a "normal" road vs the markings on a merging lane. Inevitably it buzzes and tells me I'm going off course when I'm like "Duh, it's a freaking merging lane".

 

Lane-keep assist (LKAS) is again, useful mainly in low visibility situations when it's hard to make out lane markings.

 

So I feel that their utility is somewhat situational to a seasoned driver? What do you guys think? Especially those with Executive and up since that comes with most of the safety tech already.
