I like Brompton design but really hate the internal gear hub. Granted it has its benefits like relatively maintenance free, but too many steps just to take out the rear tyre to replace inner tube. After a brief spell with burst inner tube every other week I got phobia just taking the bike out. And I always got the feeling that the cable tension on internal hub is not aligned properly thus gearing not correct, which happened time to time. So eventually got the alunminum G 山寨版 with external gear system haha.

Liaoge...? 😁

Looks like you may have to shift to the largest cog BEFORE you fold. That should increase the tension in the chain.

If still too loose, shorten the chain.

Will give a try again tomorrow. Tension of chain seems ok when riding, no slack at all. It is when folded, somehow the derailleur is not pulling the chain, it get dislodged. Need to figure why.

Only siao ppl pay $10k for Brommie.

That’s reserve for Moulton.

Someone here owns 1.

Brompton easy to sell in market with lesser loss.

Take a close up video for us to help diagnose....

Maybe derailleur spring weak, need to screw in the small hex bolt to increase the tension.

I was watching this video, the chain tension is good. Need to see why I am not achieving this.

Did consider that but it only comes in chromoly steel whereas the one I got is full aluminium with disc brakes. I change the gear system to Tiagra.

In case you never pedal after changing gear. For external gear system, you need to pedal after changing gear setting else the current gear will remain which might affect folding mechanism.

Yeah, seen both but none advise how to rectify if chain loosen or adjustment of the chain tensioner. I believe something got to do with the position of the chain tensioner. Wake up early to start visualizing it. 😂

I think I got it. The position of the chain tensioner is very important. Mine may still need a slight adjustment but will leave it to monitor to see how it goes. Along the way, I did try to adjust the derailleur but don't think I could make any adjustments. I fold/ unfold a few times, it works. Will update after using it to see the result. Thank you for all the advises.
