Are u sure 2K/mth can drive a Merc including servicing, road tax, insurance? I don't think so leh.

And owning a car can be a pain when u try to dispose it. At least for leasing, no such headache.

What is the rate for leasing Toyota Altis for a month?

i always wonder why the bidding window is so long when ppl are just going bid at the last few hours.

I thought it is just the last 15 min? Don't need few hours.

last para": Mr Lui also urged aspiring car buyers to hold off purchasing until next year, when the supply of Certificates of Entitlement is expected to increase.

Can believe and trust his words or not?! If everyone is to hold on until next year, but by then COE supply didnt increase and price didnt come down, then how? [confused]

that's quite a good price. which company is it?

I remember my company rented one about 4 years plus altis 2 years back for about $1250 for short term use. Maybe the price might drop further since the car older liao?! [:p]

The CM was due to COE of cars casing inflation to be high.

Inflation figures are comparing COE prices this year with last year only.

So, if COE drops to 2012 levels, inflation spook is off their back.

Wonder what will they do to the CM then?

Turbocharged

think, they are using 6-7 yo cars....leasing can be cheaper than buying?

It will never be "cheaper" - but the cash flow is very different, and the expense profile is very different.

Leasing can also be a much lower commitment.

Further, there will be certain economies of scale to be realised by the leasing company (eg: maybe buy 15 or 20 of same model, can push the dealer for more goodies and benefits) and then I would guess that certain items can be expensed to bring down the ownership cost further, not to mention - what about GST? That would be 7% straight of the top right?

quite timely....with many cars at used car dealers unable to sell, they can convert them to lease terms...huat ah ( for consumer or seller? )

Can be used for tax break? Supposed if one's job requires a car, if own car = cannot claim tax break. If leasing a car, boleh?
