Never write actual name, never say who. how to know the comic is saying who. only those guilty will feel offended [rolleyes]

Its just like saying "mo mo ren" in Chinese.

When the authority THINK you are. you are!

No idea, i would think foreigners can ignore overseas court decisions?

Not always -

It depends on what agreements are in place between the countries, and also what the publication agreed to when they published in Singapore.

Often times though, on the internet the defence is that the server is hosted in some other country so you cannot touch me....for that, so far as I know, is pretty successful. UNLESS the writer is based in the country...

Dont' bluff yourself.

If one look you know who the character is referring too, EVERYONE KNOWS!!

If the artist use animal heads to represent instead of PAINSTAKINGLY draw the characters to that likeness of their representative. Maybe he will be save.

eg:

Like a Panda face character call Mr Panda instead of a character that looks like the PM and call "pinky Loong". Perhaps he will be save from the law...

What "mo mo ren"...? [hur]

I think it is quite irresponsible of him to use race as a topic as material.

And the similiarities of the cartoon to Singapore is definitely present = perceived similarities.

Actually i think hes quite talented. Too bad this type wont flourish here. Kinda reminds me of Michael moore in the comic sense

Then you have to be even more careful. The political maturity among Singaporeans are still at it's infancy. (Partly Thanks to our gahmen <_< ) It's only through social media and online forums that people recently open up and express more. But recently many of such "opposing" media spawned out to educate and influence the mass to think otherwise. But which is right and which is wrong. Which is the truth and which is half truth?

The thing is people tend to take watever s--t that was force down their throats, where is it MSM or Comics like the one Leslie made. It's a problem if it comes to the point that people find it "cool" to rebel against anything that represents the Authorities

This is plainly an assumption that everybody else is stupid and cannot differentiate what is good or bad for them.

Such condescending arrogance insulting people of their intelligence. [mad]

If PR Amy cheong can be left off with only a stern warning, I dun see why this guy should be punished with only some harmless cartoons

So Leslie was arrested for racist comments and insulting justice system?

The disturbing thing here is not the arrest, but how come previous racist comments by Amy Cheong and Jason Neo led to nothing? Isn't there double standards here?

Why is it dangerous when one cannot speak out against the judicial system? Cos it shows the judicial system will always determine what's right but will it always be right?

because the rest remove and apologise.

he did not removed and apologise.

Amy Cheong apologies immediately and the company also took immediate action. The problem with social media is people tend to shoot their mouth off (via typing) at a heat moment.

The cartoonist take a long time to plan and produce a strip of comic, which one has more 'planned' and 'thought'?

Even if his comic went out of line, he was asked to remove and apologies which he refused to.

I am not saying he is wrong but if he is threading on a thin line, he should know the consequences.

If he still want to step over and try to change the line, i have no comment.

yeah ironically, people that most effectively criticise (with valid points) zheng hoo or point out their boos boos are inciting hatred against zheng hoo and therefore chargeable.

also don't play play by criticising the law and judiciary.

And you write these with the assumption that I'm arrogant?

It's merely my opinion based on my observations on the cyber world.

When there's a call for witchhunt, everyone start pumping their fist with their torches and pitchforks.

I'm just telling people to be careful I never imply to insult anyone.

Relac dude... [wave]

Let me put it this way to you. Without effective supporting statements, your viewpoint remain as a hollow opinion. Except that it rankles. It is does not help that it is actually a sweeping statement if you realise.
