inlinesix Hypersonic March 26, 2018 Share March 26, 2018 Wow, very surprised, mostly at the speed. Only two weeks given. Must be very jialat for Uber for them to want to exit so quickly. This kind of deal very likely to be in work for 6 mths. Unlikely to be seal over a short period of time.

inlinesix Hypersonic March 26, 2018 Share March 26, 2018 Yeah, competition makes things better for consumers. Grab will definitely give out less promo codes now. All the best to the Uber drivers here on MCF. Hope the transition is pleasant. Actually real competition is between Grab & Go-Jek. Singapore is only a side show. 13177 Hypersonic March 26, 2018 Share March 26, 2018 So sad, just now I fetch an an moh, she said she is quite sad that no more uber soon. She only take uber. I told her, she could download grab app and use. She said she only prefer uber and don't like grab. There are many riders out there only have uber app and take uber only. Likewise there are also many riders who only have grab app and take grab only.. With this merger, those who only prefer uber app only now left with no choice. Maybe some will download grab app, maybe some will switch back to taxi. Saddening.. During morning peak hours in my area, it seems like uber fare is cheaper than grab. So next time no more uber, either have to pay more or take lesser PHV.
RogerNg_185295 6th Gear March 26, 2018 Share March 26, 2018 rumors and reports of Uber selling off its Southeast Asia operations to Grab were finally verified this morning. Ending the long battle between the two ride-hailing firms, Uber will make its exit from the region in the upcoming months, and current users will only have two weeks left to book rides with the app. But while the news didn’t come as a shock, the way that Uber employees in Singapore were unceremoniously sent packing this morning kind of did. Various posts on social media by former Uber staffers alleged that employees were given just hours to pack up their sh*t and exit the premises, located at Mapletree Anson. By lunchtime, they were all on the streets without jobs. You all heard that Grab bought over Uber. No biggie to some. It affects the whole office when you received 2hour notice to leave. Yes the whole office evacuated the building.#joblesspic.twitter.com/lhruwAVmAc — Syahrizad (@Syhrezd) March 26, 2018 If that’s indeed true, it’s quite a nasty move for Uber’s Asia headquarters in Singapore to fail to warn its employees or at least give them more time for news of the alleged retrenchments to sink in. According to a report by Mumbrella Asia, however, Grab has assured all Uber employees involved in its Southeast Asia operations that they will be offered employment in Grab though that won’t happen quite immediately. “All Uber employees in its SEA operations will receive offers to join Grab,” said a Grab spokeswoman to Mumbrella. “As they will no longer have access to Uber’s systems and network, they will be on gardening leave until Grab has found a role and has onboarded them.” Though the now-former Uber staffers may be placed on “gardening leave” for an ambiguous period of time — a status that means they’re still being paid at the moment it’s hard to know for certain if they’ll all actually have jobs with Grab after the transition is complete. We’ve reached out to former Uber employees and Uber for their comments. https://www.msn.com/en-sg/news/singa...BKIb2P?ocid=sf

Opel17 6th Gear March 26, 2018 Share March 26, 2018 Also hope grab to also retain those previous job uber have. I.e uberpets, uber carseat and uber assist. These 3 jobs had served many riders who is in need for a ride with specific request. For uber pets, it save their day because before uber pets was launched, those who travel out with pets but do not own a car, find it super hard to get a phv drivers who is willing to take them. With uber pets it solve a big headache for them. Same goes for uber carseats. Those that travel with kids and willing to pay 5 bucks more for that car seat, I had picked up countless number of these riders who booked uber car seat already. So if grab higher up saw this post, please do include these option to grab app. Maybe can name it as, grab pets, grab carseat, grab assist. Do note that uber carseat is different from Grab family. Uber carseat can fetch kids from 1 yr old to 1.35m as these drivers had the physical carseat with them. For Grabfamily, can only fetch kids 1m and above, below that height cannot fetch due to grab is using mifold instead of carseats. I suppose all PHV are required to assist pax who need assistance (eg. Wheelchair , etc...). This was clearly spelt out in the PDVL course. So I think grab assist would not be necessary. Last week I had 2 Justgrab trips with wheelchair pax and helper. Most grab pax with kids are not aware or didn't book grab family. I personally do not like the mifold design, and bought 2 of those conventional booster seats. I explained to pax that grab allow S$2/booster seat. There was 1 trip that the parent insisted no need (other grab drivers also never say must use booster seat, additional charge arh?). I waived the S$2 charge, otherwise have to cancel the job.

Ravinged 5th Gear March 26, 2018 Share March 26, 2018 One of the shareholders own both company, decision to consolidate the business. You just answered your own question. This, itself, is creating a monopoly. The fact that regional watchdogs feels that this deal warrants further investigation is already a good start. Going by your example of a company closing down, this example effectively imply there is no such thing as a monopoly in this world. Because this situation happens all the time all over the world.
