It's not a twin turbo. It's a single turbo, variable geometry, twin SCROLL.

The sales guy anyhow type on carsales.com.au lo. I really thinking the twin scroll is a stupid and misleading term for that setup. What I understand its similar to a ported turbo and manifold setup. But still impressive figures.

A lot of turbo car using twin scroll now. More instantaneous response.

It's not just in the chip. The intercooler is also different I think. Otherwise so easy to chip up, everybody chip. Too much compression the air gets too hot needs more cooling.

for N20 engine... chippable... 184 to 245 ... no hardware change required...bmw std intercooler is always a weak link... so tuners like to change it out also...

need to check parts table to verify if indeed the intercooler is different....either case is a comparatively cheap change than paying sticker price difference, i guess could be different.. since 528i can chip to 294...so it still has quite abit of potential...

also do not understand Y this time round BMW is so liberal with their coding... usually its very hard to unlock the chip... E90 323 vs 325 was a hair-pulling experience... AFAIK. no 1 was successful in unlocking those lost HP...

The N20 is totally different story... guess being TC helped alot.... just referencing AC schnitzer tuning page will see a entire range of engine chips for the N20 and N55....

not just AC ... there are at least 20 tuners offering tuning chip for N20 ...

bms, kelleners, tmc, hartge, racechip, etc ... the list is as long as famous char kway teow stall ... lol

For E90 323 vs 325, 1 of the main diff is DISA itself. ECU controls DISA electronically.

Since 520 already $200+, what's 10% more for 528? In Germany, it is 12% diff.

Anyway, only from 528 onwards got SAT.

More option included at the same OMV. Who's care about outgoing model?

Have not compared the different options offered by 520i and C250. Think only the Luxury spec comes with the full works. The new C Class options OK mah.

The F10 headlights like very dated. The boot is nice though.

Really so easy to chip the N20? Like that I buy one without PML warranty and chip up seems like a option I can consider..........

A bit 'off topic',in the early 90's people bought P.I. cars esp Mercedes Benz W124 series for more equipment but same selling price as agent, present, buy P.I. cars because it was cheaper.

the potential to push is there, but nobody knows the long term effects yet.

N20 is VGT lah!!!

Hmmm, I just googled... MY BAD.

N20 is fixed geometry

It's N47 (Diesel) that is VGT

Interesting. Why didn't they put VGT into the N20? No real gains?

I think you don't see VGT/VNTs in gasoline powered cars much (iirc, only 911 has it?) as the exhaust temps of gas powered turbos are at least a couple hundred degrees higher compared to diesel and this wrecks havoc on the variable vane mechanism's reliability long term.

Did you know even our taxis here using VNT from years ago? e.g. the old magentis

For the E90 323 vs 325.... most knows where the hardware differences are .. but somehow no 1 has managed to unlocked fully to 325 potential....

520i is base model... always alot of discount... 528i premium... PML "usual" tactic... no discount....

if you head down showroom.. base models always have alot of unwritten discount 1.... higher models usually dun hav....

so the price difference will be quite hefty... and as the model aged... more and more options becomes std.... PML practice...

now that f10 is super matured liao

it's better to get 528i with all options in [thumbsup]

if you compare the price between 520 vs 528, it is worth it to pay for the extra unless you really really dont want those options

Since you already says that 520 is base model, a lot of options are omitted. It will not be a like for like comparison.

I think i saw F10 with LED headlight. Very chio le.

If i am in the market for F10, i only look at 535 with M sports. IL6 ROCKS!!

As i already mentioned... for PML, options become std as the model aged.... usually just before EOL ... units are full of options even for base model....

Of coz the 535 with M sports is delicious.. coz its is still IL-6 ... the marque of BMW...

previous generations... the lost HPs are so hard to extract rendering buying from BMW as the only fuss free way...

For the current N20 equipped models... the line is blurred...

OT abit... tuners even offer instant on-off chipping using the ipod connector in the glove box... for N54/55... instant 300 to > 400HP at touch of button....
