It has been more than a month or even 2 since I got the good news. "My daughter passed her driving license" Since then, she was given a slip that she passed her driving and she eligible to drive. What happened after that, till last nigh, she has not got her license. When she call, she will be given an answer that the license is "On the Way"...... No other answer, when she asked why is it taking so long. Answer given is "everyone is also complaining, please just wait" Once again, I don't need here to drive, as a strict parent, we never allow a latch key kid gal at home and we keep her under good supervision. But what is this kind of issue, I ask my daughter and she says, her other friends are also having the same issue. What is happening to Singapore, this is not the first time I complain and shout around. Last year, my passport was a big screw up, all the way that even finally told me to go collect and tell me to come back again. I used to be a proud Singaporean. But these days, what happen to our service quality and efficiency.......Sigh

Hi Am looking for a replacement car of not more than $160k. Some considerations for narrowing down my choices are: a) Reliability; b) Safety; c) Performance; d) FC; e) Comfort; f) Maintenance costs (AD) - a range would be helpful; g) Insurance premium. Have test drove the Volvo T5, Infiniti Q50 and Mazda 6 recently. All 2.0 litre petrol cars. Diesel cars not an option as my mileage not high. Just doing my due diligence before making a commitment. Hence, would greatly appreciate existing/ past owners of the above cars to share experience of their ride; and potential owners to share the x-factors that made them signed on the dotted line. A 2 litre sedan with sticker price of S$257,800. Looks like a gem although many will say it is not an inline 6. Fast enough for me plus lower rd tax than the 535i that PML is selling at above S$360,000 for the M-sport trim. Thatz like a 100 grand difference. I do see PI selling 535i for S$267,000 but I dun think I will take that route. Any bros willing to share their take on tis car? My ride left a few months. Personally I do not agree because of the nagging feeling that those with dual citizenships (DC) may probably hightail to his or her country of origin when the sh!t hits the fan in Singapore. Call me cynical but folks generally will avoid crisis for self-preservation so if given an alternative to siam I am pretty sure some will just do that. Dire if you consider in terms of male's NS obligations in Singapore and for those with DCs they may just pack up and leave when our national security is on the line. I am a supporter of a non-existent party. I am a Singaporean who used to live overseas, but came back to serve NS and back here for my family. Found my love for singapore the longer i stayed here. Yes, I do own sports cars if you read my previous post. It was not because of the present government that I got a job and buy my cars. Like most singaporeans, coming from a poor home, growing up without my parents around in a rental flat. I was too young to know the value of money then. My Grandparents are the closest i've got. My mum had to save $$$ to send me overseas and that is how i learn the value of $$$ when i was living all by myself in my teens. Having watched the old videos of our Government from the 80's to present. Many years ago, The Government has our interests at heart. They listen to us, they helped us grow and mold us as people of Singapore. Back then, everything was affordable and life was simple. Times, have changed in the last 10 years. Our plights have been ignored to basic needs and the assistance is not enough to fill the stomach of those unable to work. Those people who are unable to work are Elderly, Sick and the uneducated aged. Are those in prison better fed than them? Is freedom a high cost? The people who dressed themselves in white, i feel they are so distant now compared to the 80s. They said they need an increment of pay to attract those talents from private sectors to Govt sector. I feel that they have gotten the meaning of Government all wrong. You are the Government because you have the passion to drive your nation and people forward. Your 1st and foremost thought is for the people. If people are joining the Government for the sake of money, where are the people and nation in their hearts? People like Obama and other Presidents from USA, if they need help in businesses and advise who do they turn to? They look for Donald Trump and Bill Gates for help and The CITIZENS help voluntarily. If the nation and people are healthy, automatically businesses are healthy. If once the business is healthy, you get job opportunities and you grow economically. Isn't this what our Grandfather Lee Kwan Yew did before? I am not talking about negatives of what he did or done.... but he got the simple formula right to get the nation going the right way. I would say, the government has forgetting its people and Singapore's resource is always People! About property, I am staying in Ghim Moh. How is the property value going to drop if our MP is not PAP? We are living near ORCHARD road. Property prices goes up because of DEMAND and someone claim he did it. If someone sells, and no one wants it, doesn't the price come down? What if people wants to live within 10mins drive to Orchard, wouldn't the price be high? Makes sense? Honestly, now I want a Coalition Government. I love having the PAP because they have good business sense and having lots of business Allies world-wide. It is this business sense that us Singaporeans have jobs and growing economy. At the same time, I love having other people in Parliament to speak for us because they have us in their hearts. They know our hardship and they know the value of HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH. Our present government says, it has giving alot, but what is ALOT? Is it enough for us? Tan Jee Say has credentials... I would love for him to speak for us when Singapore is making a decision to invest. We are people we do make mistakes, we do say sorry. But even though we are angry, our mind must still make sense and make cents. Thank you WP and SPP for speaking on our behalves all these years. About over-spending in the YOG... Honestly, is doesn't matter how much the amount is at least, Singapore has volunteered holding THE FIRST world stage event not knowing the actual cost. Is a magnificent achievement. Is because of this unnecessary spending, we have made more international friends to do business with in the present and future. I would love to see fairness to the people and businesses. No more cartel pricing, no more 1 driver, but a co-driver. We need FT in Singapore, but not those who are stealing our jobs. I still have so much more to say. My ride, KIA Carens Elite 2.0 A facelift in 2009(normal plate) and I bought it at $54-$57K(if I can recall correctly), thought of downsizing to an used Honda Jazz/Fit 07-08. The main reason being the vehicle has been under ultilised as Mon-Fri is only used by me and the rest of the 6 seats are collecting dust. I have only family of four including two young sons. I had did some homework. I had an offer of my car at $53K from a friend dealer and he has a 2006 Jazz going for $38K.....is was reasonable at market price after some browsing at SGcarmart and ------.com...... So to trouble the bros here, any good and trustworthy dealer or friends selling their Jazz/Fit, please let me know and you can choose to PM me. On top of that, what do you think of the offer that were mentioned above? One note, I am definitely not going for new car with the soar COE. My budget for my next ride is $40-$45. alot of my colleagues and friends shun away from the thought of a korean made car. alot of remarks like: "will spoil very easy" "japanese better" "waste money" personally i think Koreans have come a long way and has made its mark worldwide. And i guess if you give china made cars another 10 years, it will succeed too. but there is one thing i hate about korean made. The depreciation. Urgh.

everybody is guessing election is round the corner, what with all the pay rise, bonuses, good economic report, etc, so watz ur wishes/views? for me, 1) frankly speaking, anyone in his rite sense of mind will know tat p&p will not be voted out, but i hope that the opp party will win at least 1 if not 3 GRC plus the 2 single ward. winning a GRC will be a good start, with their limited resources, i believe it will also do the opp party a lot of good to start slowly & built up from there. this will also deal a blow to the p&p tat they cant always do as they like and there must be accountability sometimes. 2) i understand the wp is targeting aljunied grc with possibly their strongest team. i dun really understand their rational behind this as aljunied is helm by george, and him being in charge of foreign affairs tat dun deal with bread & butter issue which is the main concern of most voters, thus my guess is tat most of the voters will think he is not a bad guy & vote for his team. my hope is tat wp go challenge grc helm by MBT with their strongest team instead. 3) the opp party draw out a alliance and consolidate their resources, some party should dissolve and merge with the bigger opp party. lets face it, apart from wp & possibly sda, the rest of the opp party will not be able to mount a strong enough team to take on p&p. 4) from reports, it seems like this is gonna be mr CST swansong year, & is highly likely he will come out from potong pasir & contest a grc. CST is a good old man & i hope he will win a grc & also his wife or whoever is contesting potong pasir will continue to fly the opp flag there. the above is purely my views only, but i think it can happen as we are the one holding the important vote.

I am really pissed with the SG insurance companies. Every year rates increase and I really have no idea how they arrive at the premiums. I suspect that insurance companies lure motorist into their trap....especially for new car owners. (new meaning either brand new or bought a new used car) When you buy a new car, the premium is usually very manageable, however, when it comes to renewal...that is where you get whack upside down. Cos the insurance company knows that you are trapped. (I believe only a small percentage would buy their cars outright and most would take loan...it depends on the tenure of the loan period) You would have to buy insurance cos its a necessity in order for you to drive on the road. So whatever price they quote, you can either swallow it or try your luck somewhere else (which is usually hopeless) Take me for example.... When I bought my car, the premium was only 1.7k (for a WRX is quite ok...cos I standby to be around 2K). Then when it comes to renewal with 50% NCB....it jump to 2.4K.....now tis year....its 3.5K !! A friend who drives a 1.3A Fit....1.8K last year with 20% NCB...this year with 30% NCB....2.6K !! Civic Type R, a owner was complaining that his premium shot up 300% !! (no claims history)....when he bought the car...the premium was 1.2K thereabout...now its 3K+ and not a lot of company wish to take. Honda Stream, When the owner bought it....600 bucks was his premium (50%) and now this year....with no claim history....he is paying 1.2K (which is like 100% increase) Is it possible that we group up and sign a petition to our dear government and ask them to do something about it. This cannot be right...a essential product for the motorist and it keeps going up everytime the insurance company says they are making a lost...WTF !! Another grouse....insurance company can never tell you how they derive at the premium...you ask them they tell you they have their method but its trade secret. PUI.... Anyone got a good suggestion on how to curb this tsunami ?

Folk fear angry deity may be cause of accidents Some Chinese believe that accidents on the North-South Expressway near Tangkak are due to an angry Datok Kong (Grandfather Deity) in the area, reports China Press. Residents believe the deity is a guardian of a hill or an area and they would hold prayers for protection. The daily reported that the stretch of the highway was prone to accidents and several would occur each year. The latest involved a bus heading towards Johor Baru and Singapore from Perak on Sunday which killed 10 people. Earlier this year, two separate accidents killed seven people along the stretch. A trader, known only as Chan, told the daily that nearby residents believed that the area was guided by the three Datok Kong before the highway was built. But no prayers were held to appease the deities when the highway was constructed. "We believe this had angered Datok Kong who will 'catch' some people every year," he said. He added that locals believe that the stretch is 'dirty' and would take extra precaution when driving.
