  1. It has been more than a month or even 2 since I got the good news. "My daughter passed her driving license" Since then, she was given a slip that she passed her driving and she eligible to drive. What happened after that, till last nigh, she has not got her license. When she call, she will be given an answer that the license is "On the Way"...... No other answer, when she asked why is it taking so long. Answer given is "everyone is also complaining, please just wait" Once again, I don't need here to drive, as a strict parent, we never allow a latch key kid gal at home and we keep her under good supervision. But what is this kind of issue, I ask my daughter and she says, her other friends are also having the same issue. What is happening to Singapore, this is not the first time I complain and shout around. Last year, my passport was a big screw up, all the way that even finally told me to go collect and tell me to come back again. I used to be a proud Singaporean. But these days, what happen to our service quality and efficiency.......Sigh

pub or café ? owner/operator trying to pull a fast one... Hood Vibes pub at Yishun HDB void deck draws complaints of noise & patrons smoking outside A newly-opened pub at the void deck of a HDB in Yishun has apparently drawn complaints from residents and caught the attention of a Member of Parliament (MP). Hood Vibes is located at 468A Yishun Street 43. It seems that the pub started operating around a month ago, according to when their business hours were last updated on Google. Goh shared that he was accompanied by officers from the Housing Development Board (HDB), who informed him that a café license had been granted to the business, and who "were also surprised to see what was clearly a liquor joint". HDB told Goh that they are investigating into the potential breach of licensing conditions. Goh assured residents in his post that HDB is looking into the matter, and highlighted that the agency "will do its part to prevent dis-amenities, and mitigate disturbance to the peace and safety of our neighbourhood". A resident of 469A Yishun Street 43, a neighbouring block from the pub, spoke to Mothership under condition of anonymity. She is part of a WhatsApp group chat which includes residents of the area, and shared that there have been complaints of pub patrons smoking outside the place and creating noise. Some have also said that apparently, the music from the pub is quite loud. Since the pub opened, residents with children also "have to walk a longer route away from the area" when heading to or leaving their home to avoid the patrons smoking there. The resident shared that the pub was still operating as of Aug. 16.
  3. Dear all, Self explanatory, dad complains when he cannot get free upgrades for his child from economy class to business class... http://singapore.coconuts.co/2016/11/30/cheapskate-dad-complains-sia-about-son-economy-class-not-being-able-sit-mum-business
  4. Posting on behalf of a fellow driver encountering a bad experience with PPS company. Fellow forummers, appreciate you for taking your precious time to read this post. Have posted pics as evidence for the claims. Note: This is a very long post!! Just want to share this awful and terrible experience of mine. My dad decided to do Paint Protection System (PPS) for his car hence I researched about various companies on before deciding on one. Settled with a company which name starts with G, which has loads of awards. Before I went there, the owner-operator was very patient and friendly in answering my questions. The PPS was done recently on 3rd September 2016 and till date around 2 weeks had passed. Throughout this 2 weeks, we only washed the car twice, first wash was 1 week after doing the pps and second one was on Thursday night. I found out that the front bumper was not coated because there were no usual effects of PPS seen on that paint area and upon close inspection, minor scratches and minor swirl marks at 4 door handles were clearly visible and not removed. Thus I texted him to inform him about this issue. Then there comes some messages that were deemed offensive to me. The Conversation goes like that: Owner-operator told us to go back to take a look and that the door handle have been coated. I know it has been coated but why were the swirls marks and scratches not removed in the first place? Did they just blindly coat the area without removing those? Prolly yes. Asked them what if still unable to rectify their issue despite going down, he said if harsh scratches who able to remove but clearly, the swirl marks and scratches are not really harsh. And FYI, I’ve engaged another detailer to remove it already. Moving on, he offered to respray for free too. So at this point, clearly I wouldn’t want to respray just those small parts because I’m afraid there will be two-toned colour. Hence, I made this casual remark of rather refund portion of the money than to waste the money on respraying. Here comes the most offensive part to me, he said “job was done properly blah blah” and at the last sentence of the message, he said “End of the day, the motive is obvious” I was like hello?? What for would we impose scratches for nothing and go back to ur side to claim for a refund? Do you think we would stoop down to that level?? Seriously!! This is the way he treat his customers im impressed. Continuing the convo, he said that the price I paid was discounted too and that my car was a one year old car with lots of defects. He offered the discount without me mentioning in the first place and now he want to blame me for it? Discounted price does not mean discounted job, if that’s the case, I would rather pay the non-discounted price or patronise another shop. Furthermore, if the car is only one year old yet they are unable to solve how they are going to solve issues on much older cars? Im nt sure. So my dad brought the car back for rectification yesterday but not much work was done except for coating the front bumper. But as for the swirl marks on the door handles, they seemed untouched, except for the driver’s door but scratches still visible. Texted the owner-operator about this, received no reply. And told them I would like a partial refund. Until this morning I received a message from another number saying that they are able to refund me $60. Only a mere $60 for so much trouble of going down again yet unable to solve the issue etc. Furthermore, so troublesome to get the refund of $60. Decided to do away with it. Really regretted choosing them and have to deal with such bad attitude and poor customer service by the owner-operator. We removed the warranty label on the car and won’t bother going back to their shop anymore. Thanks for reading this incredibly long message and my motive here is just to share my negative experience to fellow forumers. Have a nice day ahead peeps.

  7. I've been encountering this problem ever since I started driving here in march. When I want to change lane, mostly because I want to exit from the highway or when I want to make a turn soon, I noticed majority of the behind car on the lane I want to enter would be either simply bo chap and driving as if I don't exist of worse, step on the gas to close in to stop me from entering... What's the problem? Macam like I'm going to outrage their modesty.... Is it so hard to slow down to let ppl enter the lane. I can understand in the case where there is a queue, some car just want to cut queue, that I will be tulan too. What I'm talking about is usual driving speed. Also, I don't mean those sudden "makan" into ppl's lane.

  11. Hi, Ok. My 05 Honda Civic ( 7th Gen ES5A) has 2 problems that i noticed recently and it's really making itself heard; 1) There's a noise thats occasionally occuring when I'm driving, which i can't seem to pinpoint. It sounds like 2 rusty/metal surfaces rubbing slightly at each other. It's not from the engine, I have opened the bay and try to reproduce it when I'm tap on the accelarator but to no success. I do noticed that it doesn't occurs if i'm on the brakes. It had occured the most often when my car moves over uneven surfaces. I have a feeling it might be from the wheels/brakes but to my untrained eye, i can't really spot any problems. 2) I noticed that the surface of my gearbox is awfully warm if i drive for a some time ( approximately 40-50mins). I've talked to the technician when i did my 70k servicing and he said that it had nothing to do with the transmission. He said i can check it on my 80k major service due in July. For your info, the car still drives well at low/high speed and it really doesn't affect my daily commute routine and i could jolly well wait for my next servicing before i get my workshop to take a look at this. However, i'm worried that it might be a major problem in disguise and it'll affect the car in the long run. Do need expert advice from the gurus here and the issues before i go to the workshop. It's better to have an idea of the problem or i'll get chop carrot. Thanks for your time and replies in advance.
  12. Hi Mods; First of all.. a really big thanks for having this forum and for keeping them so well.. I have been reading through quite a fair bit of the post and I really enjoyed them.. One thing I've noticed is that quite a fair bit of the MCF members have really unpleasent encounters with CABs.. I was hoping that you might create a folder and divert all these feedback to the folder.. I really hope the people from the cab companies read this forum and do something about it.. I think they owe us that much..
  13. Ferrari's ultimate boss Luca di Montezemolo is complaining that Formula 1 is being dictated too much by tyres. "With these new regulations it's more of a World Championship for tyres than for cars," he said. "I'm worried because I see, after five races, that we have a very competitive car, but we have a big problem with the tyres. [/color] Bridgestone have worked very well in previous years, but with these new regulations, tyres have an excessive and certainly decisive role. I hope the situation improves because we have trouble in being fast both over a hot lap and over the race distance." Memories are short in Formula 1. Ferrari was offered the opportunity to sign up to a single tyre formula last October as part of the "Cost Saving Initiative" at the Brazilian Grand Prix, which proposed a control tyre for F1. It was agreed by nine of the 10 teams. One of the reasons that Ferrari refused to sign up was that in recent years the relationship that exists between Ferrari and Bridgestone been an important advantage. Now that Bridgestone is not producing the goods needed (at least not at every event) the team is questioning the rules. Bridgestone's Hirohide Hamashima says that the lack of performance is because the tyre manufacturer does not do enough testing. "Our rivals can count on several top teams," he said. "So they can improve much faster. This is particularly decisive this year, with these new regulations." There is an element of truth in this but Bridgestone must look at its tyre supply policy for a reason why this has happened. The company started out with several big teams but gradually each moved to Michelin because they were unhappy with the special relationship between Ferrari and Bridgestone. The upside of that policy was the enormous success of the partnership in recent years. The downside is the pain that is now being felt at Maranello. The good news for F1 is that in such a circumstance Ferrari might consider a switch to a control tyre (it could be justified as being made in the best interests of the sport) and that would be a major step in reducing the split that currently exists between Ferrari and the other major teams. This would also address the testing issue as without tyre rivalry the need to test would be reduced considerably - and that would bring down costs, which would help Ferrari as well. This can only be a good thing because the current situation is not in the best interest of the sport. It would also help the safety situation as a control tyre would provide a much more effective means of slowing the cars.
