  1. asking on behalf of friend, so hopefully can gather some solution. my friend's neighbour has been shaming them and pasting all sort of malingering notice. The town council has been called in and has admonish her for what she has done. Still, she refuse to repent. If want to avoid legal confrontation, what may the best solution be??? The police is as usual, clueless what to do when report was made.
  2. Guys as per topic, My relative has a huge problem. He has a neighbour upstairs married to a viet wife and his mother with 2 kids just moved in. Every single day at night the kids fight and drag chairs and throw toys and shout and husband and wife fighting and quarrelling. No kidding. Every SINGLE day. My relative went up to tell them many times but each time they say ok ok ok but not apologetic. There was once the husband beat the wife up until jia lat jia lat police came a few times. in the evening is kids causing noise. In the night is the husband quarrelling with wife... The final last time my relative went up to tell them to quiet down, they ask him to move out if he is not happy I think they are also irritated by my relative's non stop visits. Is there any way I can advise them or any help they can approach? They have been living there for the past 15yrs till the new neighbours moved in past 6 mths. Buay tahan liao... please don't ask me to give illegal advise because if I could I wouldn't be here asking for help. Police tried before. don't want to go MP useless. HELP!
  3. Went up to their unit to ask them to lower volume. They said ok but continue jamming away. Belong to a certain race as you all know it. Call police come laio then now start again. I think need to look for MP
  4. got free aircon still complaint this one from chinese paper, duno if there was in any english paper. Aunty and her mum staying in the flat unit for more than 30 yrs, new neighbour moved in 2 yrs ago and they turn on aircon to the coolest temp 24/7 and blow toward the ceiling. Aunty staying above them claim their floor is getting condensation that damage their furniture and fixture. it also cause health problem as the 湿气 is not good for old people. They have to wear few layers of clothing and sock at home. She also worried the mum might fall due to the constant wet flooring
  5. Bro/sis, My neighbour (#08-126) upstair's toilet floor worn out and causes ceiling damage on neighbour downstair (#07-126). Because I live diagonally below (#07-124), I also kanna and worse, at my bed-room ceiling. Since the case has been logged with HDB, I'll prefer to let them settle. After near 2 months, my ceiling gets from bad to worse and now worse with recent heavy rain. HDB told me that because #08-126 disputed on repair cost and thus, can't repair. I don't want to get involved but I'm a victim. I'm planning for worse case scenario; if #08-126 continue not to repair and thus, my ceiling got badly damaged (concrete fell-out, furniture stained); can I sue the neighbour and claim property damage + legal fee on them? This is the last resort I want to take. TIA!

  7. A 78-year-old retiree was fined S$3,000 for setting his neighbour's cat on fire. His act caused the cat to foam at the mouth. It also left the cat's face, neck and back badly burnt. Chua Tuang Seng, a father of two, pleaded guilty to the charge and will have to serve a jail term of two months if he cannot pay the fine. He committed the offence along the corridor outside his flat in Pasir Ris Drive on September 3 last year. Chua was sprinkling kerosene around his potted plants to get rid of ants when he noticed the tabby cat hiding among the plants. He believed the cat had defecated frequently outside his flat. He used a broom to chase the cat away but it hid below a metal shelf. Chua then squirted kerosene on it, lit a piece of newspaper and threw it towards the cat. The badly-burnt animal was later found foaming at the mouth by the sister of its owner, Mdm Salman Mohd Aris. The 49-year-old woman made a police report. The cat was sent to Mt Pleasant Veterinary Centre for examination. The cat suffered from swollen eyelids, skin loss at the neck, and singed fur and was hospitalised for four days. Chua, who suffers from throat and colon cancer, pleaded for leniency. District Judge Ng Peng Hong pointed out that Chua's act was "not right". He ordered Chua to pay Mdm Salman S$1,235 as compensation for medical costs incurred as result of his act. For the abuse, he could have been jailed up to a year and fined S$10,000. Yesterday my mom called me and told me their top floor neighbour hang out WAX DUCKS to dry and her laundry kena all the oil.... I have been to opposite building before and look over to my parents blk during my hunting for 2nd hand flat so from my understanding, the top floor have been rented to Chinese. Will upload picture when I got it from my bro later today...
  10. My friend has this dilemma ... the story goes like this. Last month, his parents had gone overseas for a holiday leaving their maid with him temporarily. As he left to run errands, his neighbour (early 70's married with grandchildren) attempted to invite the maid into his house (whilst his wife was away). The maid was terrified and returned to flat (she was sweeping the corridor outside). Just as she returned to the flat ... the uncle raised 5 fingers indicating (?!?!?!?!?!?). Now my friend is troubled cos he thinks the uncle was accosting the maid offering payment for "something" in return BUT I told him that uncle could just be very friendly although I have my doubts! He wants the uncle to stop accosting the maid (happened 2-3times) and maybe tell uncle's wife BUT I told him that he might be gravely mistaken and create animosity between neighbours! I thought I'd ask you MCFers for your general consensus about what he should do.
  11. i lived at a floor with 3 units.there lived this crazy neighbour who will taunt the other neighbour dog every morning when he comes back.end up the dog will keep barking at him which is causing a nuisance. understand from the dog owner that the crazy neighbour have made some complaints against him to HDB about his dog barking before. now,i don't want to complain the dog owner to HDB because the dog was taunted by the crazy neighbour to bark in the 1st place and i have seen it a few times already.should i confront this crazy neighbour and ask him to STFU?
  12. Report STOMP : Mischiveous neighbours irkes Marsiling resident by throwing food onto laundry STOMPer Jade hopes that something can be done about her neighbours in Marsiling Drive after her laundry was stained by food thrown down by them. The STOMPer wrote: "A case of high-rise littering where food is thrown out of the kitchen window. "These photos are taken from the 16th floor of a 18-storey flat in Marsiling Drive. "If you stay in this particular unit, you can expect to get food stuck on your laundry. "If I stay on the 16th floor, the culprits can only come from the two floors above me. "I hope the authorities do something about this." link: http://static.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sgseen/in...owing_food.html This neighbour(s) above really Stomper staying at the 16 floor and there's only 2 floor above stomper, surely the culprit can be easily identified. What will you do if your are the victim ?
  13. When neighbours disagree ... by Quek Sue Wen Carolyn Case 1: A family, who had just moved here from China, had resorted to mediation because they could not stand the smell of curry that their Singaporean Indian neighbours would often cook. The Indian family, who were mindful of their neighbour's aversion, had already taken to closing their doors and windows whenever they cooked the dish, but this was not enough. "They said: 'Can you please do something? Can you don't cook curry? Can you don't eat curry?'," said Madam Marcellina Giam, a Community Mediation Centre mediator. But the Indian family stood firm. In the end, Mdm Giam got the Indian family to agree to cook curry only when the Chinese family was not home. In return, they wanted their Chinese neighbours to at least give their dish a try. Link
  14. Why in this case the authorities persecuted her but not in the case of our fellow MCF bro Adrian leh? Don't understand... http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/S...ory_677529.html Jun 8, 2011 Woman fined $1,000 for scratching neighbour's car By Khushwant Singh A WOMAN, who scratched a neighbour's car, was fined $1,000 on Wednesday. Hoo Siew Cheng, 35, was also ordered to pay her victim $500 as compensation. A district court heard that Madam Lim Cheng Yong, a housewife in her 50s, discovered scratches in the paintwork of her Hyundai Kia car on several occasions since January last year. Exasperated, she installed a video camera in her car to film the culprit. At about 9.35pm on May 7 last year, Hoo, an operations manager, was filmed scratching the left side of the car at the car park in Punggol Central. Madam Lim then lodged a Magistrate's Complaint through lawyer Winston Quek. Hoo, who pleaded guilty to committing mischief by scratching the car with a sharp object, had blamed the neighbour, who lived directly above her flat, for water leakage and noises late at night.
  15. ST Forum Jun 6, 2011 Saddled with a neighbour who puffs away MY FAMILY and I have been putting up with regular smoking from our neighbour who lives directly below us. We do not have the luxury of keeping our balcony glass doors open because of the strong smell of cigarette smoke pervading our home from our neighbour's home below. We requested our neighbours several times not to smoke in the balcony. Their only response has been 'This is our balcony and we will do whatever we want here. You close your windows'. Do we really have to put up with this kind of inconsiderate behaviour towards fellow neighbours? It is high time that laws are enacted to prevent people from harming their neighbours this way. Management committees of condominiums are powerless to enforce a non-smoking rule as long as the people are smoking inside their homes. Srinivasan Gopi
  16. Shud check this guy into Buangkok Hotel leh. How come authorities can't do anything when he poses a measure of danger to members of the public? ST Forum May 19, 2011 At wits' end over neighbour's disgusting habit I LIVE in Tampines. My neighbours have been extremely distressed by a man in his 40s, who throws plastic bags of urine from his unit on the eighth floor twice daily. According to residents in the area, the man has been mentally ill for more than 10 years and is taken care of by his family. His actions have caused unhappiness not only because of the stench and unhygienic conditions but also because of safety reasons. Recently, a foreign worker was drenched with urine while cleaning the block. Residents now fear that this may happen to their children who play in the common areas. Several police reports have been filed and letters of complaints written to the town council and the National Environment Agency. However, the authorities have not been able to alleviate the situation. Residents also approached the man's family but to no avail. We hope the authorities will resolve this issue. 17. Today I spotted a car who had illegally parked his car again at the handicap lot without valid handicap disc. He had been doing this for the past 2 weekend and today, I decided to report this case to HDB. HDB firstly had remove the "1800" and i have to pay to report. Secondly, I was on hold for 10mins and got piss off by them. I took my wife phone to call and using 2 lines hoping I can get a respond. Waited and waited and decided to phone NPP to seek assistance on the matter. and the officer in charge said that they are not incharge of these issues. Made me wonder y a law is broken and civil servant not serving us? Then he say he is a OMO and not able to leave the post.... We really lack of SPF enforcer??? How can they cope with the increasing FT population? Then my wife line got thru and report the matter to HDB. These made me confirm that the system needs to be change and have no doubts that my decision is correct.
  18. Each have their own rights. How NEA gonna solve this? This is one disadvantage for staying on higher floor. But I'm guessing the smoker smokes outside his home like along the corridor or at his window. ST Forum Feb 28, 2011 Stuck with a smoking neighbour WHILE I was dismayed to note the statistics in last Tuesday's article ("No let-up in lighting up"), I was heartened to read about the severe measures suggested by some people as my family has been subjected to cigarette smoke from my neighbour living on the floor directly beneath mine for some time now. This man smokes regularly at various times of the day, which effectively makes my entire family passive smokers. I have repeatedly tried explaining to him that his cigarette smoke permeates our entire flat and is harming not just myself and my husband, but our two young kids too. Regardless, he maintains it is his flat and he can do what he pleases within its boundary. In other words, the current law allows him to get away with it. He has even told me it is I who should close my windows when he smokes. He remains adamant about continuing with his ungracious act. What recourse does the passive smoker have to such abuse? I appeal to the National Environment Agency to consider imposing a ban on smoking in all buildings, corridors and lift landings in Singapore, including residential properties. Sherley Servos (Mrs)
  19. This is the second year I have to put up with this neighbour with their unusual way of celebrating CNY. You see, every 2nd day of the CNY, this family's sons (all 3 boys all very much beng) will invite their beng and lian friends over for a rowdy celebration of booze, gambling and I don't know what else.... The thing is, the guests starts trickling in from 10PM and now the "party" seems to be in full swing. Judging from last years' experience, they would not end till 6AM the next day. In additon, my street outside of the property is now double parked on both sides of the road with an assortment of zhnged cars - no less than 10 at last count! Oh, I see more coming in...If I include this family's 5 cars, wah, whole street belong to them liao tonight! You see, I wasn't so bothered last year because I still did not have kids, this year I have got my twins and I'd hell of a problem getting them to settle down to sleep - even w/ the windows closed and aircon on, the din still permeates the room everytime the people at the party screams and shouts (I imagined they are drunk or winning a hand on the gambling table). I will not go down and talk to this uncouf family on hind sight. I'd seen their immediate neighbour done so (I live diagonally opposite), the sons just come out and tell them "aunty, once a yr nia oso cannot?" I imagine it would be like talking to the bull? I hope my kids will sleep thru the din while I keep my vigil for their next feed....
  20. Everytime I walk past my neighbour's, their stoopid dog will bark very fiercely at me. I thought it's because I am carrying food but when I walk past without food it also barks. Then I thought I have a funny smell but it barks regardless of whether I have bathed or not. When other people walk past, it doesn't bark. When I walk past other dogs, they don't bark at me either. So what's the problem with my neighbour's dog? Edit: I have never eaten dog meat either.
  21. I had been stay in this unit for more than 3 yrs. Yesterday saw my neighbour house was been splash with red paint and there was some message left on the wall ( something like O$P$) but i did not pay attention on this. This morning found my gate and door was splashed with red paint. My other neighbour told me her house was affected as well. All the units were been "decorated" with red paint except the unit which suspected owe the money. My neighbour even told me they already make the police report and police only came to take photo. No action and nothing much can do as according to them. I was damn pissed off but nothing much can do except clean the gate and door. According to my friend who have the similiar experience told me this is only the starting state and expect more to come. So right now, I really lost as afaird they will come again even after i clean and do not know what kind of "art" will facing on next. What can I do? Is anyone here facing this type of scenario b4? What is next step for ah long? Any way to prevent it?
  22. Just wanna to vent out my frustration.... I stayed in the corner unit 4 room HDB , my ex neighbour used to be phillippine nationalities, both family can share the common corridor in peace. They have moved out, my new neighbour are the india nationality , Guess what, eversince they moved in, the outside corridor has changed gradually seem to become their private property. They have put so much things and instead of pushing their things outwards to the corridor, they pushed inward towards my units. Running out of patience, I have told them off that they should be aware the area, and although the common corridor belong to government, that does not mean that they can put anything they like.I have warm them that either we dun put anything outside at all ( HDB say) or we have to agreed on the area within ourselves. Out of anger , I have drawn out the line to indicate that they should not cross over my side. To my surprise , the war has stopped since then.. Is it because of culture difference that caused misunderstanding? I wonder !
  23. Major security risk at Nusajaya By NELSON BENJAMIN and MEERA VIJAYAN JOHOR BARU: Kota Iskandar, the sprawling new state administrative capital in Nusajaya, faces a major security risk as it is located near a Singapore firing range. The range, inside the Sarimbun Camp, is operated by the Singapore Armed Forces and involves the use of live ammunition from tanks and aircraft including helicopter gunships. Sarimbun is located about 1km away from Lim Chu Kang Road in Singapore where Japanese soldiers crossed the Johor Straits in a fleet of small boats and successfully landed on the island around midnight on Feb 8, 1942. There have been instances when the explosions at the range have caused vibrations on the Malaysian side less than 2km away. Too close for comfort: An aerial view of Nusajaya showing the close proximity of Kota Iskandar(foreground) to the Sarimbun firing range, marked X. Government servants, who have been moving into buildings at Kota Iskandar in recent weeks, have also expressed worries about stray bullets or shells. Nusajaya assemblyman Datuk Aziz Sapian said he was aware of the risks posed by the firing range and had raised the security issue at the Johor State Assembly even before the area was developed. He hoped the Government would discuss the matter with Singapore and set up a military base on Pulau Merabong to beef up security around Kota Iskandar.
  24. Hi All Car Forumers & Forummettes, i have been living in Sembawang for almost 12 yrs now... all is well until a recent few years back.. next door neighbour... has been on the inconsiderate end. all other neighbours ...same level..up & down neighbours have been on good & friendly terms with us. but next door neighbour has been turning on their tv & hi-fi on loud & noisy...purposely talked very loudly up till 2-3 am on many nights.. neighbours who passed by their door have been called nasty names for no reason...& my wife & myself have been subjected to verbal abuses on many occasions... we have kept quiet amidst all this & yet i have been challenged & threatened to a fight with them. Other neighbours have complained abt their antics but they'll only tone down for a few days & start again afterwards. It's a real nigtmare. what can we do?
