Doppel Turbocharged December 7, 2014 Author Share December 7, 2014 (edited) remember to drive to a safe location if you guys want to repair or change punctured tires. never do it on a expressway.@Vega, Excellent advice! Best is to drive to a petrol kiosk or rest stop area (when driving in Malaysia) to carry out the repairs, or change to the spare tire. Yes, the punctured tire would be irretrievably destroyed when it is driven while underinflated, but your life is worth much more than saving a tire! Vega Turbocharged December 7, 2014 Share December 7, 2014 Can use breakdown triangle to indicated tyre puncture, but do not ask passenger to stand on the road as breakdown signage. People do get knocked down while doing that. ya. reminds me of that Korean family killed last yr on CTE........ if during night time and you need to change or repair tires on the road side, beside using the breakdown triangle, you can also download a free apps "Flashlight" and turn on the police blinker and place it on top of your car so that you can be seen from far and people will slow down thinking its a police car. Fcw75 Hypersonic December 7, 2014 Share December 7, 2014 Can use breakdown triangle to indicated tyre puncture, but do not ask passenger to stand on the road as breakdown signage. People do get knocked down while doing that. Most cars are front wheel drive. If rear tyre punctured still can drive quite a distance. But drive slowly when cornering (can be very slippery). Yes, I simply cannot comprehend why people will stand behind their breakdown vehicle to divert traffic. Come on! You think you are ironman?

Chucky2007 Turbocharged December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 they didn't but it would be 1 more reason for you to stay away from VW it means they either so confident that your car wouldn't experience a tyre puncture..or the dealer have a worldwide concierge service that they will come and fix a puncture for you wherever you may be in this world. Excellent dealer!
TameDriver Twincharged December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 (edited) Something useful (I hope) I came across recently: Green Slime Tyre Repair Kit. Comes with inflator (connect to ciggy plug). Cost: just over $100. To me, the advantage is not having to remove entire tyre to repair. Simply inject the slime via the tyre valve. keanie Turbocharged December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 @Vid, I am afraid, most people do not know that for run flat tires to work properly, they have to be mounted on rims with EH2 or EH2+ hump, so that in the event of loss of pressure, the run flat tires will not slip off the rim and can be still driven. Mounting a run flat tire on a non-EH2 or EH2+ rim would not reap the benefit of having the run flat. Further, you need a "high tech" car which can detect the difference in the traction of the tire which has lost pressure, through the car's ABS sensors, which cars with original OEM run flat tires are equipped to do so. Finally, tires choices of run flat are quite limited and they have to be of sturdier construction, so if you are looking for a comfort tire, ride of the car has to be compromised. Good info. Thought any car can change to flat tyre. But as one forumer said, flat tyre can save live or castrophoe. OT a bit. Two years ago, I had a retreat in Malacca town centre. One of d participant drove his own beemer n with flat tyres. Some distance before d slip road into town, he drove over some big nails. One of them pierced his tyre. Think these big nails were deliberately placed on d road. He didn't stop n continue to drive into town n had it repaired there. He showed us d nail. Walau, what a big nail. The question, is what if another car n not with flat tyre. The big nail would have immediately punctured d tyre. Phew!
Fuelsaver Supercharged December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 I think around once per year or 1.5 yrs. there are lots of inconsiderate ppl whom throw their nails or screws all over the place. I found a quite a few on the car park floor recently after some retrofitting works by contractors engaged by the town council. Needless to say, I placed all the nails at the wheel of tat car I hated most in the mscp Joking lah threw them down the bin and thank tat I wasnt a victim lol if u really did that, ur nick is undeserving liao...
Kb27 Supersonic December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 Do avoid construction sites. Bangla throw screws all over the place. Your tyre is likely to pick up one.
