RH1667 Hypersonic January 8, 2015 Share January 8, 2015 When you already have 3 kids and a domestic helper, and wife is pregnant with #4; you should start looking for a MPV before #4 is born; else, you are just waiting for everyone in the family to complain about not having enough space when moving around.
Alpha78 6th Gear January 8, 2015 Share January 8, 2015 From housing, transportationto policing, how come all of them were surprised by the sudden increased in population. All ministries and departments sendirian berhad is it? Almost like that, isn't it? Every department and ministry has its own KPI to meet, no one knows whether it's in terms of dollars and cents or in terms of "customer" satisfaction. Last time whenever people start a fight, polis will come and catch them all, and interrogate. Flex some muscles and the populace all become law-abiding. These days, even if blood is spilled in small fights, sometimes polis say it's non-seizable offence, go settle yourself. No report filed = no crime = safe country. Bingo! KPI met. After that group left then the soc group that was on standby near the atm machine started their patrol......damn cartoon! Alpha78 6th Gear January 8, 2015 Share January 8, 2015 that's coz private car is called "mischief", only public property called "vandalism", that's y different treatment. Oh my, the irony of it all... If you notice some police public service messages at HDB carparks, saying, your camera, our security. Using your private camera to help fight crime? Video evidence if a crime takes place near your vehicle? And the best part is, most memory cards keep about 2 to 4 days of recordings before it gets overwritten. If your camera caught anything, and you didn't know a crime took place, by the time the police request you to provide the video, it would have been gone. I laughed so hard and almost drove into the carpark barrier when I saw that...

I think nowadays people are more scared of being sued than being taken into police station! I think it's more like they have "no balls". Policemen are also human though. Whenever there is a crime and a call was made to inform them of it, they will take a long time to arrive. By the time the police came the assailants would have already disappeared. This is similar to what a friend in JB told me. If someone make a report about robbery, the police will sure ask if the robber carry any weapons and what type of weapons. If you tell them they have a gun, for sure the response will be even slower.

ShellVpower 4th Gear January 8, 2015 Share January 8, 2015 After so many incidences, no I don't have much regards for the local police force. I find the police force more like a certain group's personal bodyguard rather than the peoples' protector. That's just my feel. of course, anyone is free to dispute this.
Thedecemberone 3rd Gear January 8, 2015 Share January 8, 2015 Sometimes I really think our Police Force is hopeless and useless. Why I said it. On New Year's Eve, the Church of St Mary at Bt Batok was celebrating the Countdown for the arrival of New Year 2015. There was a carnival of sort with a DJ talking at the top of his voice in the quiet neighbourhood. They were blaring the music while awaiting the strike of midnight. Nearby in the open ground at Bt Batok, PAP is also waiting for the Countdown towards midnight. The atmosphere is understandable and we don't mind it. So the clock chimed at 12 midnight and there was celebration all round with music and horn blaring. Yes, we enjoyed it very much. But how long would you expect it the celebration to last? The PAP organised Countdown last 30 minutes and stopped at 12.30am on New Year's day. Guess how long the Church of St Mary's lasted. At 1am the DJ continued talking at the top of his voice oblivious to the disturbance he is creating to the neighbour and the singing continued. I called the police and as usual they asked for my name and phone number. The police post is just a 2 minutes walk away from the church. At 1.15am, the music is still blaring at top volume. We could not sleep with the loud music coupled with the lousy singer, yes, you guessed it, it's a Pinoy singer. I got frustrated and call the police again. The reply was they are short of manpower. I asked the police if I can go to the church directly to talk to the church members and was discouraged from it and was told it should be handled by them. And we have one of the highest PTP (Police To Population) ratio in the world. I immediate went down to the Police Post to show my unhappiness at 1.25am. There were 2 policemen and a policewoman manding the post. I asked the police to come out and listen to the loud music for themselves. They did not, of course. My wife and I have to work the next day even though it's a public holiday. I am sure there are many others who have to work too. At 1.30am the music stopped playing, much to my relieve and we thought we can turn to bed, finally. Then at around 1.45am my mobile rang. On the other line is the police asking me if the music had stopped. WTF. They told me they are there and there's no music playing. For a 2 minutes walk from police post to the church after I first made the first call at 1am, it took them more than 45 minutes to reach the church and they have to drive there when walking only takes 2 minutes. It was only later that I found out that the music stopped only because one of my neighbor went straight to the church to voice his displeasure and unhappiness that the loud blaring of music is blatantly disturbing the peace and sleep of the residents. This post might be a bit long winded but I would like to share with all how busy and effective our police force are in times of need. There are more stories in my neighbourhood which can be more lengthy.

Staff69 Hypersonic January 8, 2015 Share January 8, 2015 (edited) Sorry bro. For the last 2 months due to work reasons. We did a survey and was shock to know that out of 10 persons we interviewed. 6 or at times,7 interviewees are PR. the bulk are from malaysia, india and china with the occasional 1 from bananas land. We concluded that the authority are trying to flood this place with more PR so that during the census of population, it looks much better and there will be less foreign workers on work permits or EPass.
