How many trips have you done?

More than 100. According to GRAB, the trips not rated by riders are not taken into account. Only the last 100 rated trips are used for rating. All these info for grab driver ratings. I hope it will be the same for hitch drivers. But grab driver can see the passenger rating whereas we can't.

It means in order for driver to be continue driving for grab, rating must be 5? Looks like even 4 also will risk account got deactivate?!

These ratings are sometimes bs based on bias from riders on their moods.

My grab car rating was a high 4.83 a couple of days ago.

Suddenly it dropped to 4.79.

I had expected it and I think the reason is bcuz I picked up a few bad ones.

Usually, it's charbo + grabshare and/or combination of both.

Some of them wants to dictate how you move.

If you move via some route they don't like, bang ! your rating goes down straightaway.

If they think route A is their ideal route, and gps thinks it's not, bcuz of traffic jam or it's actually longer, and you use gps route, bang ! your rating goes down.

And drivers have no defense against such whimsy rating by riders.

Grab unlike uber, driver can rate rider as well.

According to Grab, the following msg pasted below is from their website for Grab driver. Their calculations are fundamentally wrong, probably they have to consult a mathematician on how to derive the population statistics.

If your star rating falls way below the average (to less than <4.3 star), then your
account may be at risk of being deactivated1
. In such cases, Grab will provide you
with plenty of notice ahead of time before taking any action. By our calculations, you
gain 0.05 points with every 5-star rating (5/ 100 = 0.05), chalk up plenty and you will
improve in no time.
The good news is that you can see above that this is an extremely small pool of
accounts affected.

Your current rating = (r1+r2+......r100) \ 100
Note:
If you have received less than 100 ratings, the system will calculate
the average based on all the ratings received in the last 12 months.

Their calculation seems to be weird and they should hire a proper statistician to do it in the right way.

For example, In my last 100 trips, assuming that only 60 people gave the ratings and the rest 40 didn't bother to do it.
In 60,
10 gave - 5 stars - 50
40 gave - 4 stars - 160
8 gave - 3 stars - 24
2 gave - 1 start - 2 points

then my rating will be (50+160+24+2)/60 = 3.93 :(

The problem is Grab driver is defenseless against biased rating based on riders mood.

I knew this would be the case when I picked up 2 recently and instantly felt it in my ratings.

First, charbo from Bedok to Bartley, grabshare. Gps tells me to use ECP, KPE, CTE. She insist I use Bartley Rd. So ok, I go towards Kaki Bukit/ Bartley. Bcuz of her route insistence, I picked up another rider. grabshare right ? She appears not happy and challenge me whether I was picking up another rider. If I had use gps route, I'd probably not pick up 2nd rider, which I don't really mind, unlike some drivers.

When I let her off, she slammed the door and stomped away, not responding to my "thank you"

2nd case, Tampines to SGH. another charbo again. I use gps route and she insist it's a big loop. I told her PIE is jammed due to accident, but ok, go her way towards ECP instead of gps route. That means I had to loop back from TPE back to Tampines to go ECP.

Every time I meet such charbo and/or grabshare (cheapo type), my ratings go down.

I'll done nothing different from bringing a rider to his/her exact destination, per the app.

Your ratings depends on the rider's mood !

If you kena too many vindictive riders, that's it.

At least when rider request to go this route, you still listen to them and use the route they want. I heard many grab driver dont listen to rider and insisted follow the GPS, no matter the route is jam or what.

Just today morning 8plus am I picked up one rider.. She very honestly tell me she want to go by mce then aye due to want to save erp as go by KPE then pie will incur erp charge.

I was like.. Erm.. Location is from east coast road area to bukit batok.

But based on waze GPS it seems like go by KPE then pie is faster. And then I also suddenly remembered that go by mce then aye also need to pass by erp leh.

So I explained to her and managed to convinced her to go by the GPS way.. Phew.. The route taken by KPE and then pie is so much smoother... When reach, she quickly open door and then rush out. Look like she in a rush.. And in my mind I am thinking.. In a rush and still want save erp.. Really pro..

Same for me this morning, rider wants to save on ERP.

Don't want to go by gps route, bcuz it goes through CTE.

But go by ECP, also need to pay ERP, just cheaper a bit.

Drivers have a hard time.

We have to juggle with traffic jam. No one likes to drive straight into one, when you know in advance.

Then we have to listen to riders who wants to save on ERP.

If you don't do one or the other, you either get a bad rating or get stuck unnecessarily in a traffic jam.

The morning cte erp super expensive.. I have drove a few from AMK to cbd and yishun to cbd.. Total erp cost 9.50.. I see already shake head.. Government really earn a lot in erp.

Cte erp 7 bucks. ( 1 + 6)

Exit havelock 2.5bucks

Total 9.5 bucks..

My dad usually uses his handphone to show them the google maps eta then ask them choose whether they'd rather get stuck in the jam or arrive faster. If they still choose the jam then too bad lo.

rating system also a bit funny. one rider's 5-star standard can be different from my 5-star standard. If I reach my destination safely without unnecessary detour I will just give 5 stars one. Last time I drive uber for awhile also, as long as rider not an a-hole I also give 5 star. Is it I too lenient? Maybe some rider 5-star standard is aircon must be 23.12345 deg Celsius, seat must be leather, car must be conti...and driver must yandao a bit.

System should change to give auto 4 stars if rider don't bother to rate. I would assume that rider had a satisfactory ride if they didn't bother to rate right? Only if they were really unhappy about something they sure come and give 1 star.

I guess some might not like my car. I am driving a 9 yr old car, though the aircon and condition is good with no rattling sound,  the seats are fabric seats. Though the seats are good and not torn any were, once young couple commented "Seaaats".

ERP on CTE really super expensive, but many grab drivers would still follow GPS and take CTE despite the crazy ERP and even rider might request them to take other route to avoid ERP.
