Euro 2016: Wales set for historic semi-final with Portugal

 

More than half of the 3m population of Wales are expected to watch their country take on regular Euro semi-finalists Portugal - eclipsing the national television record for a sporting event which was only set on Friday for their 3-1 quarter-final victory over Belgium.

 

The Prince of Wales also sent the team a "huge good luck" message, saying: "I'm sure they have got a very good chance of beating Portugal. Everyone here will be keeping their fingers crossed."

Germany will be playing without 3 key players in the next semi. If they could still beat France in France...that 'scratch and sniff' JL can be Germany most successful international coach ever.

So a team with only 3pts and finishing 3rd in their group qualifies for the Final!!

 

I don't think Portugal is amongst the best 2 teams left in the tournament but luck of the draw plus victories in last minutes of extra time and a shoot out win helps them qualify which is deserved I suppose but sort of anti climax to me as better teams like Croatia, Belgium and Italy falls by the wayside. That's football for you!!

In football, luck, and ultimately lady luck is most important; eg what if C. Ronaldo is suspended, and in the same vein Aaron Ramsey did not have the second yellow card and is allowed to play in the semi-final.

 

As it stands, Portie has a simple 50% chance to bag the Euro 2016 title.

 

Portie is peaking at the right time. Surely they would be deemed as an underdog for the final.

 

But if they win whether they deserve it or not is the least important question.

We learnt a few things in Porto and Welsh team, first half were even steven, both sides took pot shot at goals, keepers were hands on, unfortunately, the start of 2nd half saw a quick succession  by Porto taking opportunities, Thy would have better rest by now to meet the finalists, I reckon CR7 & Nani were stupid to get yellow-carded, which may cost them dearly if thy don't behave in the finals

 

I like to see French Baguette V Portuguese Chicken in Final on 11/7 ( monday @3am ) at least for their citizens who had gone through so much in the last few month of uncertainty of terror attacks.

Well when he was at southampton he was a lb. But a lb who scores with many free kicks.

 

At spurs he was kinda a jinx in his first dunoo 20 games he played. Spurs never won a game when he play be it as a starter or a sub.

 

All hell broke loose one day when hes a left wing. Bang and the rest is history.

 

Ironically bale was a lb and rose was a lw. And now both excelling in reverse roles.
