Stratovarius Turbocharged September 20, 2016 Share September 20, 2016 This is embarrassing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_PK_6F_Bhk&feature=youtu.be Note has been well known for lag. But is it fair to compare to iphone? I believe the apps, though the same, are encoded differently. ↡ Advertisement
Vid Hypersonic September 20, 2016 Share September 20, 2016 Note has been well known for lag. But is it fair to compare to iphone? I believe the apps, though the same, are encoded differently. I don't think it is users' concern how apps are encoded. It is how fast they load and how smoothly they work. If that can't be achieved... then... what's the point?

Solar Turbocharged September 20, 2016 Share September 20, 2016 Here's a simple explanation http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-37255127 The problem is the manufacturing of lithium cells. At its current state, it's not completely safe. Unfortunately, lithium cells provides the most energy dense battery in a small package, and still in high demand. People complain about short battery time in their phone, but they don't complain about the small lithium battery size, until it explode. Ya, that's why in the other thread regarding connecting to a separate lithium battery to monitor car while engine is off is discouraged. Lithium can explode and is a powerful source of energy for the fire. I remember a bro attached an experiment video how the battery burnt.

If that can't be achieved... then... what's the point? I think speed is not the main concern of most users though. Many already know that android not as fast as iphone. But there are many other things that are more attractive on the android side also.

Xanavi 4th Gear September 20, 2016 Share September 20, 2016 Note has been well known for lag. But is it fair to compare to iphone? I believe the apps, though the same, are encoded differently. Not surprising. You only have IOS that is built purely for Apple. And Android+Touchwiz for Samsung phone. Imagine the layers you have to "bash" through. If that can't be achieved... then... what's the point? I still don't think there's much of a real life lag issue as bad as demonstrated in the video. Though yeah that makes note7 look like a senile old fart. My phone is almost 1.5 years old and I'm used to a bit of lag. Nothing annoying. Nothing disrupting. I'm more frustrated with the poor reception in carparks and in my void deck hahaha Edited September 21, 2016 by Lala81
Lala81 Hypersonic September 21, 2016 Share September 21, 2016 I think one reason is that the hardware is still more than adequate to run the software. When my contract was up for my sony, i was dying to change. Similarly my ip4 was getting quite laggy at the point in time prior to change. Now my wife's ip6 contract is up in 2/12 and it seems no real reason for her to change. Similarly i can't see any pressing need to change.

Other than hand it down to my wife to replace her even older ip5, I don't see the need to upgrade [laugh]

Ahgong Supercharged September 22, 2016 Share September 22, 2016 my only biff with the fruit is, if you are not on the latest OS, even the old apps will start to fail that is a bummer! for my Android phone, my old Asus is still on factory ICS and all my regular apps are still working as it should. no lag. no freeze. back to the topic of the Note7.Those that had their phone exchanged, how is the feedback so far? ↡ Advertisement
