teomingern Supercharged January 14, 2018 Share January 14, 2018 It's selling more expensive than the Audi A4 2.0 at the motorshow. It's a pretty good car, but still not comparable to the germans. Asked a sales guy what's the pitch to price it higher than the A4, the guy had no answer, simply said "the car speaks for itself". If i let the car speak for itself, this is a 150k car at best. Other than the hype, rationally it's definitely not a good buy at this price point.I'm not sure where you get that the Audi A4 is cheaper than the Stinger... cos Sgcarmart lists the A4 2.0 TFSI at $176K while the Stinger is $168K... that's an $8K difference while the Stinger has 244 bhp vs 188 for the Audi... I'm looking at the base model for the A4.. ↡ Advertisement
Mkl22 Supersonic January 14, 2018 Share January 14, 2018 If any of us here needs a salesman to convince you to buy a car other than using price, then I question why are you in a Car forum? I’m sure if you are savvy enough to find your way here, I’m sure you will know as much as or even more than the salesman can have with any product training. So what’s the point in challenging the salesman to convince and “sell” you the car! If you are a clueless uncle or auntie then yes, the salesman’s job is to sell you the stinger and convince you why it’s better than an Audi A4.

Wyfitms Twincharged January 14, 2018 Share January 14, 2018 Well, there are the keyboard warriors who can type until high heavens. Talk is always cheap. Singaporean buyers are the most difficult ones. Ai pee ai chee ai tua liap nee. Trash the A4 and close the sale... Wow that's just amazing isn't it? ð Buay tahan sales ppl who talk down other brandsOnce this sales from conti brand talked down a Korean brand which I was also considering I straightaaay walked out Turn off

Yeshe Turbocharged January 14, 2018 Share January 14, 2018 Means the sales guy is lousy. Now, if you are the businessman and dealer, would you sell a car that is 44k OMV at S$150k? No one wants to make a loss right? A 150k car at best? Rationally not a good buy at this price point? I can't fault you for having that perception but economics wise there's no way it can be sold for that price. i believe the stinger is priced reasonably based on the declared OMV. However in this context, C&C could have done better by considering to bring in the backbone Stinger and do the add on locally and hence bringing down the OMV. Look at how the forester did it for MI. Low OMV, very aggressive price point vs competitors, confirm bite.

emilyp 2nd Gear January 14, 2018 Share January 14, 2018 Did anyone realise that the HUD is pretty useless? jjandyy 4th Gear January 14, 2018 Share January 14, 2018 For the margin paid to the dealer for the 2.0 version, I don’t think it is fair to expect any badge value on top of the performance and specs offered. Buyer looking for performance AND badge should be prepared to pay another 20% more to account for the brand premium.

jjandyy 4th Gear January 14, 2018 Share January 14, 2018 A lot has been said about changing the KIA logo but yet it has not been done by the Ang mohs on leadership roles in KIA. I believe they probably saw something we don’t. It is easy to change a brand, a logo, but hard to build a new one. In the process, a lot of value could be destroyed. Just like how I always wonder why GMC is called GMC with the simple red letter logo. Or DAF, which can mean something else if you add a T to it. Some people who have no intention of buying just wanna challenge sales folks and show their superiority or just to boost their ego by talking down on them. One of my ex boss is like that. Ake109 Supercharged January 14, 2018 Share January 14, 2018 Saw it in the flesh at the show and I really hated the fake vents. Interior was not bad but not quite Audi standard. Headroom was really low for a 4.8m car. Still, for 208k... very tempted. Did I say I hated the fake vents? I hate the fake vents. You are right... for most buyers, they see 160k and they compare and find they can find Harrier, A4 2.0, Q50, BMW X1 etc. They won't be able to appreciate rear wheel drive, track performance, steering feel etc. In car show, one husband was trying to convince his wife who sat inside the Stinger - asking softly - "How does this feel compared to the Harrier", with a hopeful tone to his voice. Think the wife shot back a dirty look. In my heart I hope eventually he managed to buy the Stinger..... Poor guy. But if his money he should be a man. ↡ Advertisement
