Reckless Cyclist

I am almost willing to bet that these illegal PAB riders still on the roads are:

1) aware and understand the new rules.... Just trying their luck since they don't see much enforcement (what are the chances one get caught right?)

2) choose not to read up or find out because that will help them when trying to plead ignorance when caught.

1. This is a definite yes.

2. Large number of illegal PAB users are senior citizen.  Most of these ppl everyday read newspaper.  Is there any campaign done to educate them?  Majority of ppl in this group don't care for find information.

In conclusion:

Lack of enforcement on the part of LTA.  The mess we see nowadays on the road everyday is from lack of enforcement from TP/LTA.

Even if there are campaigns to educate these people and even if they have info, I doubt if they will care.  They will just do whatever is most convenient to them.

was driving along stamford road past the singapore recreation club when an angmoh cyclist turn out from st andrew's road AGAINST the traffic and came towards me.

i had to perform an evasive maneuver to avoid him after judging there was no car on my right, managed to  honk at him but all i got was a "wat the f is ur problem" look.

but judging by our LTA and TP's way of handling them, i guess they r right to f singaporeans in the face with their tour de france cycling in Singapore

try talking to the angmoh cyclist in ur office (there are so many of them nowadays) who cycles to work or for leisure, they will tell them thats their right to do so in their home country and singapore lacks the lane they are entitled to and singaporeans lack the etiquette to give them their own lane or way which should be the way since they are vulnerable cyclists.

p/s: i told him the deaths r mounting anyway, one more death aint going to make a dent since it is not a crime for geninue traffic accidents

Yes. There are some truth in the second paragraph. Singapore roads do not have dedicated bicycle lanes & Singapore drivers lack the etiquette AND patience. Sad but True. (Metallica FTW

LTA should start by catching those cyclists that cycle across zebra cross, traffic light junction every morning during school time..

Put on newspaper big big and announce how many persons kana summon for not following rules.

Not just roads. Look at how fast some cyclists pedal past blind spots near lift lobbies. We are just waiting for a headline in Straits Times that says "Speeding bicycle kills children outside lift lobby[furious] .

The design of some foot paths linking blocks and amenities make it so easy for reckless cyclists to speed. It's like having a PIE in the midst of the estate for personal mobility devices (PMD).

The scholar that thought of this idea of PMD must be held responsible for all deaths caused by PMDs.

On Feb 27, I was taking a walk along the park connector beside Sungei Serangoon at about 6pm when a speeding cyclist hit my back. This happened about 1.5km from Capeview@Hougang towards Punggol. The impact caused me to fall backwards and hit my head on the ground.

I lost consciousness and when I came to, two joggers helped me to get up from the ground. Because I was still quite dazed, I did not say anything to them. As I made my way home, the two Samaritans continued with their evening exercise.

I am now writing to express my appreciation and to sincerely thank them for helping me in my moment of need.

When I reached home, I vomited and was warded in hospital for two days, after a CT scan of my brain showed a linear skull fracture. I was given hospitalisation leave for 30 days after discharge.

By sharing this accident, I also want to appeal to all cyclists and users of personal mobility devices (PMDs) to be mindful of other park users, many of whom are children and seniors, or are pregnant.

I am in my 60s and going back to exercise in the park will no longer be the same again.

I am sure I am not the first victim and won’t be the last, unless and until all our park users behave responsibly and ensure that they do not put other users at risk.

Thanks to LTA for encouraging all these...

Will/can they do anything? I doubt...

Thank god this chap survived.

Hope the cyclist gets retribution.
