ya totally agree to what u say. but let not beat around the bush, straight to the point.

do u agree its wrong for that cyclist to cycle that way?? or u feel its ok?

all the discussion come down to this only right??

like i say its not ok. its totally ok and all right with me if u feel its ok, i know some bro here feel its ok, can cycle like that,  we agree to disagree after all🤣

but what about u ???

Maybe let me put it in this way, if its 8.30am on a weekday morning along West Coast Highway when fast and high volume of traffic are expected, I will feel it's not OK even as the law allows for the cyclists to be on the viaducts. Simply because of the speed difference and drivers don't have much leeway to react or change lanes given the packed traffic conditions. The dangers posed are multiplied even if the cyclists don't hog and kept to the left.

In that particular video, its poor road etiquette during off-peak hours (after 8pm) on a non major road where traffic volume is expected to be low and slow. Visibility to drivers wise, he is wearing bright yellow and is equipped with bright front & rear lights, with the latter dictated by the law if one wants to ride on the roads. In such a scenario, I feel its still OK as I can spot him from some distance away behind and will be able to judge my way around him. Unless he hogged, wore black and no visible lights at all then that's a NO in my book given the same road & time.

I thought my stand is pretty clear? U asked for how I felt, the above is how I feel about the video. Personal feeling isn't black and white.

Or the answer you're expecting is that cyclist should either kept far left or F off the road? 😁

Agree with you, as that's poor road etiquette on display. As you asked like this, then how I felt whether OK or not given that scenario isn't in the question.

I did think to myself, if its a motor scooter or motorbike hogging, will it receive as much attention from the driver for him to take a video and post it online? Or he will simply curse under his breath and go on his merry way because motorbike paid COE, road tax and has a number plate. The increasingly flouting of rules and poor road etiquette from the black sheeps among the Tour De France wannabes, and the lack of enforcement from the authorities have led to the drivers making a point whenever a chance permits. Sort of like a vigilante reaction from the drivers to take video of bad examples.

If one day these Tour De France wannabes paid tax, did their mandatory basic theory and has a visible number tag on their bikes but still choose to hog, what will we be saying then? It's just another day on the roads.

i am very straight forward,  i mention b4 its wrong to hog no matter  u cyclist car or any other vehicle,

if u see my other post, i super anti hogger ( all type of hogger)

my stand is clear, black and white , i am not a lawyer, nothing grey to me in this area. straightforward and clearcut.

no cyclist should break the law or cycle in a manner that break cycling/traffic  law for whatever reason, esp particularly for reasons like they feel safer and more comfortable doing so .

( anw out of point, there are tones of video cursing cars road hogger in the other thread. like i say hogger are dislike everwhere. unless by their own kind)

'a visible number tag on their bikes ' with this around, all road user will be able to report errant cyclist on the road easily, they cannot get away with it like now, u see the reckless driver thread, all  errant driver is record down.

Now I see why, there's a difference in tolerance between you and me regarding hoggers. 😁

To me, I will just overtake as I regard them as slow moving obstacles. Doesn't really incite that hatred from me, people who run red lights however, is another story.

its just making a stand. or having the correct thinking

for example alot of ppl can tolerate being bully, so it mean nothing wrong with the bully?? no the bully is still wrong.

like that cyclist , even if all the 10-20 cars behind can tolerate his way of breaking the law of cycling, does it mean its correct of that cyclist to do so??

Yep, I respect your personal stand on hogging. The law is the law, sure I get that.

Come think of it, with regards to hogging be it cars or cyclists, has the TP taken active enforcement on our roads in the last few years? My impression is that somehow to the authorities, hogging is almost like just an advisory low on their list of priorities, despite the law. Its totally unlike speeding, running of red lights or drink driving. Active enforcement does inculcate correct behaviour and etiquette among the road users, sad to say, the whip is more effective.

That's probably why people boh chup on their own actions towards hogging, making one half of motorists frustrated, the other half already accepted it as a way of life on the roads here (me).

yes. tp is not doing a good job stopping car hogging, cause alway got the damn argument of them keeping at the speed limit in the over taking lane, i dun want bring that discussion here.

but the cyclist which i share, make no mistake, there is no argument there, he is not only hogging.

he is breaking traffic and cycling law outright straight already . despite all the poor action by tp on this there is no excuse his breaking of the law.

just because the police is lousy , gangster can go around extrocting money , like the yaowenlong case. no right?

imagine if this errant cyclist got a number plate,  we can report him easily. look at another way if he got number plate and is identifiable he wont even dare to commit this crime.

This one is a clear cut moron and its not simply a case of poor road etiquette. I wonder how the hell did he even managed to filter right amongst the fast moving day time traffic.

If its a local, he should deserve some jail time, no excuses that he don't know the rules. If he's a foreigner who is blissfully unaware that cycling on expressways aren't allowed, shame on him that he did not check beforehand and some heavy penalty should be a good deterrence to be splashed out in the papers to warn the rest of the monkeys.

To me, spandex warriors can co-exist lah, but at specific timeslots.  Sunday mornings, weekdays 9pm onwards till 6am etc. and of course high visibility, considerate and safe riding. All those that ride outside these conditions are asking for it in Sg.
