Agree but the lorry driver should place a breakdown warning sign further up the road, hppe he did.

Was a case of trailer toppling over a sedan, and driver's blood actually seeped out from the flatten car. Should be 10 to 15 years sgo

Got another case of cyclist riding and hit behind a stationary van and died. 

I got a friend racing motorcycle more than 2 decades ago and died there. 

Yes the old Changi coastal road was indeed dangerous as it's poorly lit at night with all the tall trees on both sides of the narrow road. Favourite place to drag before TP start stake outs there. 

The current TMCR is already a huge improvement at night, well lit, at least 3 lanes wide both directions plus dedicated cycling lane, and a PCN running parallel. Smooth and flat. Really nothing to complain liao, plus the accident happened during the day. No doubt the cyclists wasn't paying attention, even if the truck should not be stopping within the lane. 

Probably only thing cyclists need to watch out for when using the cycling lane are the dirty stuff of another kind such as debris (stones and sand) from the passing dump trucks around the area. They will puncture or cause a cyclist to skid if aren't careful.

For road bike braking, it depends on rim and tyre.

For aluminium rim with rim brake, can always swissStop BXP for greatest stopping power.

For carbon rim with rim brake, it needs to use compatible brake pad.  The stopping power will be worse off.

Coming back to tyre, a lot of modern bikes (produced after 2018) can clear tyre up to 28".  That will reduce stopping distance.

Noted the techno stuff,  but what's the point of mitigating all this techno stuff when biker is not alert in the first place going at break neck speeds

As i mentioned the use of aero bars also diminishes the promptness to brake in time too and also the body angle which the rider has to shift to anticipate the situation

Also the inclement weather right now does not help much too, I've braked on wet roads or paths and its really not easy

All these are good if this joker had pulled the brake lever.

Regardless of aero bars, a cyclist can always cycle in an aero tuck resulted in an inability to see the road in front.

I usually skip the wet road as it is harder for me to brake with carbon wheels.

I guess, saw truck last min, front brake depressed fully. Whole bike and rider flipped and rear ended truck on the rear wheel.

Probably forgot which lever is front and which lever is rear brake.

Rain and wet road mean I get to sleep longer like this morning! whahahahaha..

Don wanna risk anything especially on wet road.. not just rider.. if driver miscue we oso die.. at my age more for health.. no point getting good health but return IC earlier..

Yah those TT type aero bar will hinder vision if really put head down. But this case doesn't seem to be using aero bars. 

Maybe cycling on drops with head fully down... 

Hope he recover fast.
