  7. ""Some people still ask whether my long previous association with the PAP will stop me from acting independently. The answer is no. My loyalty is first and foremost, to the people of Singapore. It has always been so, and will always remain so" Ong Teng Cheong - August 1993, in his final election broadcast speech http://www.ongtengcheong.com/quotes.htm TJS' cynicism of former PAP members is valid, but not all former PAP members running for president is like TT. Ong Teng Cheong demonstrated that he could really be independent and a good president. History and the court of public opinion has decreed so.

  9. Lorry hit 140kmh trying to beat cops Driver who refused to cooperate in breathalyser test gets jail and fine By Khushwant Singh A LORRY ran a police roadblock, beat a red light and blazed down Jurong Town Hall Road at 140kmh trying to outrun a pursuing police car early on July 6 last year. The driver, Bagavath Singh Jayakkumar, 31, was eventually cornered after the 3km high-speed chase. At the police station later, the Indian national refused to breathe properly into a breathalyser. Yesterday, he was jailed a month for dangerous driving and fined $2,500 for failing to provide a specimen of his breath for the breathalyser test. The court heard that police conducting checks at a roadblock along Jurong Town Hall Road at 1.20am that day had signalled him to stop. But he simply drove through, eventually reaching a speed that was twice the 70kmh allowed on that road, even as a patrol car, siren blaring, stayed on his tail. Jayakkumar was forced to stop at the junction of Boon Lay Way and Jurong East Street 31, as there was no way through the vehicles that were waiting at the red light. Smelling strongly of alcohol and failing the breathalyser test conducted by an officer, he was arrested and escorted to Clementi Police Division for another attempt to measure the alcohol level in his breath. Although he was told repeatedly to take a deep breath and blow hard and continuously into the breathalyser, he blew only gently and intermittently into it in the two attempts he was given, Deputy Public Prosecutor Wong Woon Kwong told the court. No reading could be taken. In addition to his jail term and fine, Jayakkumar was disqualified from driving for 11/2 years. For the dangerous driving offence, he could have been jailed up to two years and/or fined up to $5,000. For failing to breathe properly into the breathalyser, he could have been jailed up to six months or fined up to $5,000.

  11. This is not a complain but a reminder to look out for cars even traffic light is green. Was exiting CTE(towards city) from braddel on Saturday noon. There is 2 traffic light when you filter out, the first traffic light is for cars going from lorong chuan to bradell or vice versa and the second traffic light before braddel road. When I was approaching the first traffic light(approx 50m)which turned yellow, I slowed down and stop my car before the red traffic light on the first lane. Few seconds later, there was this black lancer which was following behind me passes me on 2nd lane without stopping. I was when I saw it passes me and I looked at the car going from Braddel to Lorong Chuan, lucky the guy in black Wish look out for the black lancer before he moves else it would be a head on collision liao. When the first traffic light turns green and I moved to the second traffic light, the black lancer was beside me and I saw 2 gals (passenger & driver) happily chatting and they seem to know what they have done. The lady driver was also looking at her phone. Be careful...expect the unexpected..

  14. This is to advice bros who sent their car back to Tan Cheong(ubi) to double check that what repair that is printed on the job sheet is been done and to confirmed that they really change the part that is stated. Last year, when car still under warranty, complain that my shock absorber got problem, so they (TC ubi) checked, and change the back left shock, but drive for one or two weeks found there is not much improvement, complain again and they change the back right shock, after that again the same thing happen, like my car got no shock absorber like that, going over hump like it bottoms out. Thought that the car is design this way, blame fate that I bought this car, But continue to drive for another few month until I cannot stand it, bring the car to a workshop and boss confirm that the shock spoil, change to a set of Koni and the problem solve.
