  1. I believe that many car owners who mod their cars do it to express their individuality on the roads. Bodykits and stickers to change the look of the car, the intake/exhaust to change the sound profile and drivability.... The most modded cars of the past were the Honda Civics, the Mitsubishi Lancers (evo or not) and the Subarus WRC... I note that these models have now given way to newer models and the trend is shifting towards high end european cars and korean makes... So what do you guys think are the fiercest new cars for taking mods - taking into consideration the availability of body kits, legal mods to the exhaust, etc...
  2. Hi guys wat is the maximum mod u can do to a NA car ? beside putting aftermarket intake , exhaust and Chipping it is there other thin i can do to maximize the performance ??? (Turbo is risky =p ) Thanks =)
  3. For example, one STI owner mods to about 500-600bhp but he still has the 50L tank.. How would he tahan the drive to malaysian assuming he has the dough for the gas? Isnt it very troublesome to stop at every gas station u see just to get it up to full tank?
  4. Backside itch one day n i went down to Benzline (importer for merc n BMW parts) n bought a set of lowering spring for my dad W211. After installing, the car wasn't very low, just a finger rear and no lowering on the front. Thus i went back to Benzline to rectify. The sales manager immediately brought out another set of spring, mentioned that there might be a packaging error that i might be given the wrong set of spring, perhaps meant for bigger capacity, thus tts why the front doesn;t lower. He intro me to a workshop around UBI area which he will absorb the re-installation labour charges. Thus i proceeded to re-install the new set of spring. However, the new spring makes no difference from the first set of spring. Car is not any lower. After discussion with the Sales manager from benzline, i have decided to go back to stock, since that set of lowering spring couldn;t lower my call at all. They have also agreed to absorb the re-installation labour charges back to stock at the same workshop. That is when the problem comes in. I waited nearly 5 hrs for them to put back to stock for me. They broke my original nut, which connects the absorber to the lower arm. Nevermind, they have found a spare one and put it back. Everything done ok and i got back the car n went home. My dad drove the car to JB one day. when exiting the new CIQ custom, he made a turn n the road surface wasn;t even, the car oversteered at very low speed dry road surface. There was also squeeking sound coming from the rear suspension. My dad drove his car back to our own workshop, the one which we installed the spring. they jack up the car and noticed that the screw which they replaced should be used on a japanese car for one side, a US car on the other side. The spring was not sitting into the well properly. Just called workshop n they mentioned all the 4 springs were not sitted properly into the well. The workshop is quite popular in UBI area, selling BC coilovers n many other parts. many DC5R n FD2R patronise the workshop as well. But when it comes to dealing with mercedes, that is the problem which i faced. Springs not installed properly, Screwed used wrongly. Benzline is honest when dealing with customer, and i managed to exchanged my spring with a set of exhaust tip. However, the workshop which they recommended is the one that gives me a night mare. So guys, out there, pls be careful when choosing the correct workshop. I cannot imagine if one day the car smashed due to the wrongly installed spring, who is gonna be responsible.
  5. HI Ramesh, I own the Skoda Superb on 5th March with great review from friends and website on the reliabilities of the car and how well built the car is. But it has not been true to me. I am rather disappointed with the warranty claims over my car for a rather small issues which had not been able to be solved. I will have to seek other recourse should nothing can be done to my car soon as i cannot be waiting endlessly for my car to be road worthy. The issues are as follow. I encounter the EPC light up problem when my mileage is about 5k and send in to your authorise warranty claim workshop and was told that they will indent the petrol sensor and make the warranty claim. I thought that my problem will be the end soon and i happily waited. However is was not so. It is the start of more problem. I have to wait 3months for the parts to come and while waiting for the parts to come i cannot do anything else. The problem i encountered with the EPC is that the car is not able to go beyond 2.5k RPM and i am unable to pick up and it is a danger to me becoz the EPC can come on whenever it like. I didnt dare to over take car in case when i over take the problem come out and i will lose power and in that event risk my life and others life in the process. If this is not solve in the event there happens to be an accident who will be responsible and also my petrol consumption increases greatly due to the said problem. I am suppose to do my normal 1st servicing on the 15k and then due to the parts not in yet i have to delay the servicing to 20k so that i can install and get the parts done at the same tim. After the exchange of the parts when i was promised that the problem is solved but however the moment that i drive out of the workshop the light just came on. I when back and was told that they will indent another petrol sensor and ask to wait for the parts to come. However i am very unhappy that the problem wont be solve and only when i make noise then i was directed to you. However u also ask me to come back so many time claiming that you have to wait for Skoda (Czech) to come back with how so to repair the car then u can repair the car if not they cannot claim the warranty. I came back and you told me that becoz your staff FORGET to do adaptive coding to the ECU so that they will do again and then it will be better. After doing so the EPC light came on again. Was told to come back to change the pin connector in the petrol sensor and then was also told that it will most likely solve the problem. However it never did. I took the time off to seek alternative outside workshop for opinions and advice, I didnt touch anything or repair the car by the workshop, advice given to you was also rejected saying that you wont take in advice from other place. Wat a remark from a distributor when i am trying my best to chip in and try to help in solving the problem in order to expedite the issues but was totally thrown out. I took so much time off to solve the problem and i am always on the road being in the sales line and i require my car as a mode of transport. Who is going to pay for my time and effort loss when the problem can be expedite if the dealers can be more willing to hear the customer out. If the above mentioned problem is not solved any sooner i think i will have to seek other recourse. I am rather dissatified with how the staff handle the problem and the warranty took so long to repair the fault.

  11. Yesterday I got nothing better to do. Therefore I decided to take out my car alarm installation guide and have a quick glance thru ... Hmmm, I realise my alarm system (Black Widow) has horn honking function when the alarm tripped, so I pick up some excess wires I kept in my shoe box, a digital meter and happily went to the car park to do the mod. Less then 20mins to get everything done including hunting for the horn -ve line. :) Now whenever the the alarm trips, siren and horn will go off together - REALLY DAMN LOUD!
  12. For the mod siao. I present to you spark plug modding. http://performanceunlimited.com/documents/...idegapping.html I think you need a Dremel for this.
  13. OK here are some that many newbies should be aware about. There is all this talk about modding and many don't seem to know the consequences and I'm not talking about hefty LTA fines. The usual story about making your car more effective is only in modifying one of it's other characteristics.. If you want to corner faster you can uprate your suspension, so you get worse ride. If you want more power, you lose fuel efficiency If you make the car lighter, you lose soundproofing and comfort Exhaust - more noise So generally speaking, there is little optimising left to do on modern production cars.. The only thing left to do is change the balance and purpose for which you aim its usage, whether you want slightly more comfort or slightly more performance. Or.....get the right car for the right purpose in the first place to get rid of this modding disease.
