  1. Hey guys since it's the ghost month lets make it more interesting by posting ghost stories or encounters you've had?
  2. Just wanna share my experience ... About 2 months ago went to a tyre shop @ First Centre to change a set of tyres. Skip the brand & model part, price was slightly lower than tyrepac, which I am still ok. They bad mouth the famous shop at amk industrial park 1 blar blar blar, and say they provide after sales service (free patching, free rotation, etc) lah lah lah ... Suay suay last night punctured one tyre. Today went to them ask for replacement. I did not expect it to be as cheap as when I purchased 4 pcs, but the price they quote was horrible ($65 more), giving all the lame excuses etc. The boss even say if someone offer that price please go with them. I told him off so much of his after-sales service and went off. Went over the other end of the stretch and asked for quotation, price is $15 more than when I purchased 4 pcs ... fine with price and satisfied with service. Maybe tyre shops think how soon can a owner return to change tyre ? so they don't bother about keeping customers. But for the latter shop, I am impressed, and they will get a potential customer. I will go back to them when I need tyre replacement. I know getting 1 pc definitely will cost more than 4 pcs, fine .. but not to that cut-throat extent. All the bullsh*t about after-sales service, I know those are non-promises, but they are as good/bad as the famous tyre shop in amk park 1. And I know it's willing buyer/seller's world, so I am cool to walk off and let my hard earn money (though not much) earned by some other who deserves it more. Just wanna share my experience ... Thanks
  3. "They" sure comes out early this year ........ Some more, 'White' collar spirits .... Yahoo news: Survey: 1 in 5 Singapore workers claim 'ghostly' workplace encounters Hungry Ghost Month starts this August. According to Chinese tradition, this is a time when Hell releases its ghostly denizens into the land of the living. So if you regularly work overtime, watch out: Nearly 1 in 5 (17%) Singapore workers claim to have encountered or heard others encounter the supernatural in the workplace - right here, in modern Singapore. In addition, Master degree and N/O-level holders are equally and most likely to claim a personal encounter. The most 'haunted' area? Office washrooms. 33 per cent of 'encounters' take place in washrooms, followed by meeting rooms (15%) and storerooms (8%). Over 3,500 Singapore workers took part in the JobsCentral survey from May to June this year. Other findings include: Health & Social Services is the most 'haunted' service industry to work in Women are more likely than men to 'encounter' or hear about someone encountering 'something' Writing/Editorial workers are most likely to witness 'something'; Research & Development workers the least. Strange manifestations are most common (59%); being physically touched by unseen forces the least (2%) Most claim seeing ghostly/shadowy figures (65%); few witness possessed co-workers (3%) Spooktacular office encounters We received hundreds of creepy claims. Here's a short selection; for more, head here. My friend's a media editor. One night he heard strange noises. The office chairs had started to roll on their own. He said a prayer and continued working, ignoring the noises and movements. Loud knocking on the windows late at night. I work on the 30th floor. Boss asked: "Why didn't you introduce the new female staff to me?" Staff was puzzled because there was no new employee. The boss must've seen a lady ghost. Crying sounds coming from the office cupboard. Our night security guard was resting at our receptionist counter when he felt something sinister. He woke to a sweet smell and the sight of a figure with hair as long as its white robes. He fled the room and told his colleagues, except his boss because he wasn't supposed to be there. Something kept singing oldies song near my ears... I felt someone run a finger across my neck when I was talking to my colleagues. I turned around but there wasn't anyone behind me. Paper flying on its own in the Accounts office. Our new female staff was working night shift when she heard someone crying in the toilet. Without thinking, she went to check the cubicles and was horrified to find no one. Then when she was about to run out, she heard a woman laughing loudly. There used to be this 'girl' roaming the third level of our building. Mediums were called in and 'she' went away. more stories : http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/survey-1-...-015436836.html "33 per cent of 'encounters' take place in washrooms" .. hmmmmmm....... work of 'Hamsup' Tiko ghost ...
  4. A summary of my positive encounter with a steady buyer: Posted an ad to sell my used tyres. Received an enquiry last night and the seller on the deal with a reasonable closing price. Deal went on as planned and it was concluded. Buyer requested for a small discount which is very acceptable to me, in short, not LOW-BALLER. Friendly young buyer and highly recommended. Nick is tommimakinen. contact ends with 1412 Cheers.
  5. We may have encounters with the mata in our daily lives, some positive and others, well, not so. Here are two that are definitely [thumbsup] : ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Online...ory_747802.html Help from men in blue, out of the blue Published on Dec 23, 2011
  6. Lately I kenna twice the same scenario in MSCP. I went up first up slope, proceed to drive to middle stretch of MSCP of that level, identified a lot, saw a car just coming up the slope, I signalled to park, the car behind come up fast to my car so close. The first time, the driver behind refused to budge and I was forced to go up another level and come back down. I realised that driver later park just 2 lots further from where I originally wanted to park. The second time, I proceed to park. The driver behind has to reverse a little and when I park, he drove past and stare at me menacingly. I've read and heard about ppl signalling to change lane and kaisu drivers from behind quickly drove up to prevent it. Now, in MSCP also kenna same.

  8. What is the world coming to? Had 2 encounters with strangers asking for money . . . asking and not begging! Yesterday was at Jalan Bukit Merah carpark near the Thai temple, had sent my sonny for his weekly maths tuition and I was washing/claybaring my ride when a guy in his 20's approached me. "Mister" he said . . . "I want to take bus but got not enough money, can spare me 20cents?" "Huh? 20 cents? Wait arhh" I said, wiping my hands dry before checking my pockets. Took out a dollar coin and passed it to him, "Nah!" He looked at me, suprised. I saw his look and asked "Why? Not enough arhh?" "No, no . . . I only asked for 20 cents" "Nevermind lah, bye bye." and waved him off. "Thank you, thank you . . . pai seh leh, I only need 20 cents" "Nevermind lor" and he sauntered off. "Lao hiah" I thought to myself "you better go take bus and not buy ciggies with my money" TODAY, Sunday afternoon. I was at my block's carpark waxing my car when a young malay girl came up from behind me and said "EXCUSE me!" I jumped slightly as I got a shock. "Huh? wat isit?" I turned around. "Can I have $10?" she said. "Ten dollars?? You say $10?" I asked in disbelieve. She nodded her head. "No, no, no" I wagged my index finger "One dollar can but no ten dollars, sorry arhh" She walked off without looking back. What a weekend! The only times people asked me for money are during Saturdays' flag days but these encounters with strangers asking for money, I have never come across except for the one unker who dragged his aged mother along asking for money . . . well, that was another incident which I related in a thread many moons ago. Strange!
  9. For the sake of argument lol... Colin and I were having this discussion last night. How many of you guys have been asked to pull over at a road block? Switch off engine... step out from the car... produce your NRIC, etc. When I was driving my previous cars, (all japanese)... I've been asked to do so countless times... I was in my early and up to late 20s... (Kena scolded by the cops who noticed my other half didn't put on seat belt - it was an oversight I swear! :P) (Kena scolded and told off and warned for switching on fog light - which I later realised WASN'T against the law... grrr) It's as though the cops were looking for someone to show their mighty power to .... Grrr... Skoda, never been asked to pull over .... just waved on ... I don't feel that I look really alot older lol (okay... self denial that I'm old and fat now) I've come to (my own) conclusion that the cops target japanese cars (and/or drivers of japanese cars that they are familiar with) What say you guys? Colin thinks I'm nuts by the way
  10. Dangerous driving by LS... provoked by Hyundai Avante 家里的小朋友不要学 Scenario Stuck as 1st car at Commonwealth/Queensway Cross Junction, Avante on the left. Never looked left the whole time at the traffic lights. Lights turned green Moved off... notice left car roaring away beside me Applied a little more acceleration Car sped up too... Thought what the hell... filtered from middle lane to right lane to avoid left car, to show him I ain't interested and also, will have to make a right turn to Holland Village later on. Car on the left accelerated and cut all the way from left lane to the right lane in front of me Realised it's a Hyundai Avante Hyundai Avante slowed down from 90km/h to 60km/h Was wondering Cut out to middle lane... Only to meet a stupid taxi driving out from small road (Tanglin Halt/Faith Methodist Church) directly into middle lane in front of me ... Filtered all the way left... Max Boost Nothing in rear view mirror left Filtered back to make right turn and went home. "Bullied" by another family car again
  11. 1st encounter: toyota alphard location: BKE slip road into KJE facts: toyota alphard tailgating from behind at bend when changing lanes is not possible. reached KJE, dropped a gear and noticed alphard had a hard time catching up. subsequently zig zag-ing its way out at cck exit. morale of story: not all small cars are eaten as ur sunday morning breakfast la. nobody is racing wif u and all i want was a quick drive home to slp after night shift. so dun assume u pay more road tax u own the road ok? its merely a Many People Vehicle hence dun go around intimidating others as if u're a f1 driver ok? think about ur passenger! 2nd encounter: GTR location: KJE towards jurong west ave 2, exit corporation road facts: noticed this white beauty wif a 3 digit plate beside me. driver had a passenger, drove wif grace; no tailgating or aggressive driving. drove along side each other until international road until lost sight of him. probably exit somewhere. morale of story: 3.8L & 480bhp car but driver is humble enough not to drive like an F1-wannabe despite having a car whose specs double or more the alphard. end of story: MPV should be driven the way it is. wanna race? go to PG and race on ur own. nobody is interested in ur mini street race. end of rant.
  12. Just wanna share an encounter today at the Shell Petrol Station along Havelock Road. So there I was stopping over the station merely to replenish my carpark coupons. Walking past the Black SFF Ferrari, briefly admiring it. Then entered the outlet to get my coupons. There was a slight queue, but bearable. Then overheard a rather Chinese accented English speaking voice. Alas! A China (Ah Tiong) cashier working behind the counter. As he was the only cashier at the moment, the queue started to swell. And so I was behind this middle-aged gentlemen who owns the Ferrari. As his turn came, he wanted to check on his points if he could redeem in paying off his pending petrol bill. China FT (Ah Tiong) followed up his request, taking little while. When said cashier tried explaining (in heavily accented and broken English) to Ferrari owner the total of points plus redeemable dollars and so on and so forth, Ferrari owner got blurred. All Ferrari owner wants is to get the points to pay off the current petrol bill, and any balance, he will sign it off using his credit card. Unfortunately, the eager cashier tried further explaining to him his number of points and the total dollars redeemable. And when cashier noticed the frustration of Ferrari owner on his look, he resort to his native Mandrain. This was swiftly rebutted by the Ferrari owner giving the shrug with hands wide apart posture to show his lack of grip of the language. While all these were happening, Ferrari owner did turn back facing me apologetically to express his frustration as well as holding the queue. A pretty modest Ferrari owner. And when I look back, there was already a queue of about 7 or 8 behind me. In the end, Ferrari owner simply sign the credit card making full payment. Perhaps the redeem points can be save for another day. Well, the only salvation to this rather unfortunate event is that the China cashier is very service oriented - with all the pleasant greetings, 2 hands handling the card etc without losing his cool.
  13. First time ranting here so hope all bros/sis can bear with it. Was at East Coast park last night and when I wanted to turn into the carpark with the Mcdonalds drive thru facility, I noticed 1 Toyota Camry (or Lexus, didn't notice properly) stopped in the middle of the driveway blocking the path partially (there was still some space for me to manoeuver past the said vehicle and enter the Mac Drive Thru though). I turned into the carpark and thus had to stop behind the Camry naturally. As he was positioned more to the right, I stop my car to his left but didn't move as unsure whether he wanna move or not. As I noticed the Camry driver seems to be talking to some people outside his car (i assume those are his passengers whom he had dropped off) and then there was this auntie (assumed to be the wife) who was walking around the Camry dunno doing what and then started to walk towards the front of the Camry after she noticed my car was behind and waiting for her to clear the path. I didn't know how long the Camry is going to be parked there and as it was positioned in such a way that i could still manoeuveur past it and enter the Mac Drive-Thru to make my food purchase, I then decided to proceed and steer my way through slowly. Just as I was making the final checks and preparing to step on the gas, the Camry decided to move and my first instinct is to stop and let it move on first. (my front bonnet was parallel to his rear door at that time). Then that spectacled 50+ yr old driver with the arrogant towkay look turned behind and stared hard at me. I waved my hand and indicated that I will let him pass first. However that doesn't seem to appease our seemingly rich and powerful friend at all. The look on his face was like I killed his father. After that he moved his arse and I proceeded with my business. After I finished buying the burgers, I proceeded to position my car at the exit preparing to make a right turn towards my chalet. Alas, there was this blue lorry parked at the side of the exit, blocking TOTALLY my view of traffic coming from my right. As there was a yellow box outside the exit, I took the chance to inch out slowly after noticing traffic from my right had stopped due to traffic hold-up (many cars at that time). A yellow cab stopped behind the yellow box and I proceeded to move out while at the same time waving thanks to the cab driver to ask for his patience as traffic was still moving on the lane i wanted to turn into. At this time, the cars on the cab driver's lane started to move and this was when the cab driver started to lose his patience and gestured some hand signals and shaking his head apparently commenting to his passengers what a lousy driver i am. What is wrong with these "old experienced" drivers these days? Or was I in the wrong really? What strikes me is that despite indicating sorry or thanks with a hand wave to these old ppl, some of them dun seem willing to give a little patience on the roads. I admit i was quite hot after seeing the reaction of the cab driver even though i waved to say advance thanks to him. I gave him a "what you want?" hand gesture and he continued shaking his pathetic head. OK thanks for giving me space to rant here.
  14. Encountered two kind incidents today. I was jogging along a road just now when it suddenly rained heavily. A kind driver seeing this stopped his van about 20m ahead of me and waited. When i was nearer, he gestured to me. At first I thought he was asking for directions. I soon realised that he was offering me a ride to a sheltered place or my home. I politely declined and thanked him. I explained that for me, rain or shine, I would complete my run. The rain soon stopped and I jogged past a bust stop. I saw a lady asking the bus driver to wait for an amah. I think they know each other. The amah was coming off the bridge and was about 25m away but walking very slowly. The bus driver waited patiently for about one min till the amah is properly seated before moving off. To the van driver and bus driver today. Well done! Singapore needs more people like the two of you. Lets keep this thread going for kind acts and encounters. Would be refrshing to hear something different instead of complaints about rude and ridiculous drivers in Singapore!
  15. See my post ... http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/gforum.cgi...1957419#1957419 I've mellowed alot over the years after all the "lacing" and "rounding" and car accidents I got involved with. But this... I had to put up with... crazy drivers blasting their horn at me when they failed their driving theory. What's with these buggers? Driving around has made my blood pressure really high nowadays. How do I stay sane?
  16. Bros, Has anyone here seen/experienced any cool encounter(s) of the fast & furious kind wif SuperCars? I mean, it's ovis cool to see a SuperCar, like the Z0nda, accelerating off! My fren, who drives a Rex, ever met the Z0nda on the ECP before. He managed to "persuade" (with irritating BOV sounds! ) the SuperCar driver into a short sprint but tat's about it. The Z0nda uncle probably thinks it's a waste of time playing wif a Jap car (tho my $ wud be on the Rex )... Tell us ur experience leh!
  17. Hmmm...Dunno why, but after having gotten the Legacy GT, seem to be having extraveneous encounters with racers: Encounter #1 Just last night, when I was driving home with my wife from Corrinne May's concert at the Esplanade, along AYE towards Jurong. Was on the 1st lane when I spotted 2 bright blue-beams in my rear-view mirror coming fast, overtaking vehicles like Daytona. I couldn't immediately move to the 2nd lane, cos got vehicle there and in front of me was a Merc. So watched for a while as he approached. Was a previous-gen Toyota Corona and then he tried some maneuvering stunts from the left to overtake. But in the end, he also couldn't get round cos lanes on left were all full. Eventually, I managed to siam to the left and he just roared down the 1st lane, with a Honda hatchback close behind his heels, tailing him at only 1m away!! Those jokers were racing on expressway like Sepang. Can't believe how some chaps could disregard safety of people's lives around them just to satisfy their own ego-trips, or settle their own personal vendettas. Oh well. But having said that, the chap didn't flash me from the rear, though I saw him doing that to other cars before his approach. Maybe he had some "respect" for the LGT as a car afterall... Encounter #2 Actually, had another encounter on my 3rd day I got my LGT. Was on 25th Dec and in Orchard Road, together with my wife and parents fresh from a Christmas lunch. Upon turning left past California Gym, suddenly heard the sound of an exhaust like a Harley. Lo and behold, before me was a yellow Pagani Zonda at the lights, revving his engine like it was about to race. I stopped beside it and spotted a young chap inside. The youngster inside must have felt threatened with a LGT beside it, cos he gave me a glare and continued with an even more extensive revving spree (must have burnt up a lot of fuel in the process). He was obviously trying to attract attention. Everyone round Orchard Road was staring at our direction - heh, I wonder if they were looking at my new LGT or his noisy Pagani. My parents all shook their heads at the youngster in the car, citing how this chap had an ego larger than his car. In the end, it took off with a loud high-pitched roar. But IMHO, it didn't seem to have the launching power behind it for such a loud car, or it could be the driver...Like it took a mighty lot of revs to even move the car that much.
