  1. Have just installed a 4-channel active sound system with DSP. Noticed that whenever I play Spotify music via bluetooth connection to the DSP, there is a hissing/static noise in the background, especially when at the points where there's silence or start of the music piece. However, when I plug my phone directly to the head unit, the hissing/static noise disappears. Using Android phone currently, but have the same results when trying out using my wife's iPhone. Have gone back to the audio shop a couple of times and they have adjusted the DSP gains down, but still can hear the hissing/static sound. They don't seem to be able to resolve the issue so far. One of their staff said that it could be due to the DSP being an entry level one, which I'm not convinced. Does anyone know how to resolve, or any recommendations of an experience ICE workshop that can solve this issue?

  6. ok, just as i thought my 3yrs+ samsung lcd is dying, it seems the problem doesnt lies with the lcd.... i hear some static sounds from the lcd tv, sounds from speakers confirmed... if lower the volume, no more static sounds......did a quick verification, it seems like only on chan-8, chan-U, chan-5, cna and okto has it.... suria and varatham dont have.... i've verified with another smaller panasonic lcd tv..... confirm the statics sounds are from the tv signal...not sure why it's like that, could it be the tv port faulty?..... before i make any phone call, anyone else has this problem??....
  7. I am wondering if anyone had this issue. Each time I am out of car, while trying to close the door, I will get the static from it. Earlier on when I open the door, attempt to let the door touch the other car's, I thought I will not get it. I tried to close the door using the top corner near the rubber side to push but I still got it. This does not happen on the right side of the door but on left as well. To think my wife also gotten it before. I didn't mod the car, everything suppose to be very smooth. It is only recently that I got the static. During that period of time, I didn't even do anything to the car. Car: 5yr old Nissan Lation (Sedan)

  9. Can anyone here advise how to prevent static build up on our body? Especially after a long drive (>30mins)? I keep getting static discharge whenever I exit my car after a long drive. Its very irritating when I close the door and the static strikes my fingers. I also know its very dangerous at the petrol station if I don't discharge the static before picking up the pump. Anyone with similar problems and solutions to share?

  11. Have you ever come across such simple wheel balancer ? They were very popular right up to early 1980s.Some shops operated by very old uncles in Spore and Msia maybe still quietly using them to balance light truck tyres up to 16" dia. Cheap, good and fast - they are practically maintenance free.My third world countries customers still unconvinced that our shops once upon a time use such simple balancers to generate very good income. They want only computerised managed type with all the light and whistles without taking into consideration their very poor electrical supply that can fluctuate more than 20% and also thier road conditions which just do not permit high speed driving. Let us know if you do come across such antique in Singapore tyre shops
  12. A fren forwarded me the below : [/size] As a continuation of the video about static electricity in which a girl had a fire accident on getting out of her car and directly touching the nosepiece, we come across a similar case: With the generalisation of self-service facilities in petrol stations people should be warned about the outbreak of fires resulting from static electricity while they are pouring in petrol. 150 cases of this type of fire have been investigated and the results were very surprising. 1- Of the 150 cases, more happened to women than men, due to their habit of getting in and out of the vehicle while the petrol is being poured in. 2- In the majority of cases the people had re-entered their cars when the hose was still pouring petrol out (the danger of the triggers on the nosepieces). When they finished refuelling and got out to remove the hose pistol the fire began, as a result of the static electricity. 3- The majority of those affected used rubber-soled footwear and clothes of synthetic fibres. 4- Never use mobile phones when filling up with fuel. 5- It is well known that it is the vapour that comes from the petrol that burns and causes the fire when it makes contact with static charges. 6- In twenty-nine of the cases analysed, the people re-entered their vehicles and later touched the pistols during the petrol fuelling process. This happened in cars of different varieties of makes and models. 7- Seventeen fires occurred before, during or immediately after the cap of the petrol tank was removed and before starting to fill up with petrol. 8- The static charge often results from when a passenger rubs their clothes against the upholstery of the seats on getting in or out of the vehicle. To avoid this, it is recommendable that NOBODY gets in or out of the vehicle while the petrol is being poured in. Movement in or out should only be done BEFORE starting, or when the fuelling is finished and the petrol cap placed. 9- MAXIMISE THE PRECAUTIONS if the petrol has spilt or splashed onto the ground. Highly inflammable vapours are immediately produced which can be ignited by sparks of static electricity from the turning on of electronic equipment (mobile phones, remote controls, etc.) or by the ignition of the vehicle itself. BEFORE starting up the engine again, the spilt petrol must be gathered or neutralised by the petrol station staff. LOADING PETROL IN YOUR VEHICLE: Stop, put the handbrake on and turn off the engine, radio and lights NEVER: Never return to your vehicle while you are pouring in fuel. AS A PRECAUTION: Get used to closing the car door on getting out or into the vehicle and in this way the static electricity will be discharged on touching something metallic. After closing the door TOUCH THE METAL PART OF THE BODYWORK before touching the petrol pump pistol. By doing this the static electricity in your body will be discharged on the metal and not on the pistol. RESPECT THE SAFETY REGULATIONS As mentioned, we undertake this as a daily task, both inside and outside the company. The following bulletin aims to raise public awareness of this danger. I ask you to send this information to ALL your friends and family, especially those carrying children in the cars when pouring in petrol. Thank you for passing on this information. Shell is Safety

  16. I've just installed a pair of used Rainbow Dreamline Co-axial speakers in my rear doors. However, it has this irritating static sound when certain CDs are played. It's only at certain frequency that it sounds "crack/static" ... How to resolved it ? Could be due to the tweeter touching the cover ? Or tweeter spoilt ? P.S: It's just hooked up to the original speaker cables, no amp/crossovers. Please advise. Thanks
