  1. Volvo is pretty renowned for how safe their cars are. The brand’s models qualify for the highest possible safety rating from the IIHS (International Institute for Highway Safety) and there's tons of airbags to protect the car's occupants no matter the point of impact. Nonetheless, this driver’s behaviour still isn’t advisable. What happened? On 1st May at Thomson Road, a camcar was minding their own business when a Volvo V40 tried to merge from a minor road to the major road that the cam car is on. It is unclear what was the Volvo driver’s thinking process but it had to be influenced by something (probably starting with A) in order to think this was a good idea. The Volvo driver went across not one, not two, but three lanes before stopping just in time to avoid kissing the wall and expensive repairs. According to the Facebook post, a bus also needed to jam brakes along with the camcar. It’s a shame there’s no audio in the footage because I know it’d be colorful. The Volvo then drove off without a word, but likely with stained pants. Online chatter Once again, the standards of our driving school are called into question. Others asked if the driver had a license at all. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. An impatient Mercedes taxi driver repeatedly honks aggressively at cyclists and recklessly drives like a 10/10 a**hole. On Monday (Aug 9), a group of cyclists were cycling along the junction of Thomson Road and Balestier Road at seven in the morning when they encountered a rude taxi driver. The Mercedes taxi driver could be seen tailgating the cyclists as they turned right at the junction in the video. He aggressively honked at them despite not being in the same lane as the cyclists. Towards the end, the taxi suddenly sped up and cut in front of the group. The taxi then took the left filter lane towards Whitley Road without observing the proper safety distance. LTA's rules and regulations for cycling on the road While the cyclists received backlash for riding on the roads, it seemed that they were following the proper rules and regulations. They were wearing helmets, rode in a single file as close to the left-hand edge as possible and switched on their front and rear lights. They were decked out in national colours and did not use any mobile communication devices while riding on the road. Netizens’ reactions While there is a stigma towards cyclists, there is no need to be such an a** towards them. If the taxi driver wanted to warn the cyclists, he could have honked once instead of continuously honking at them. Besides that, his reckless behaviour could have resulted in a severe accident on National Day.
  3. A driver was caught reversing dangerously along Braddell Road with a moderate amount of traffic. It's insane! I know! The incident took place yesterday (July 6) at 3pm (which is around the time when traffic starts to pick up at that area). A red Honda Fit having missed the initial exit leading towards Lorong Chuan/CTE(SLE) along Braddell Road (see map to see where we think this happened), stops in the middle of the road with total disregard of the motorist behind it. As the video progresses, you realise that it's slowly reversing and stopping every few seconds to avoid crashing into other drivers. Even heavy vehicles had to stop and switch lanes when they noticed what the driver was doing. Who is this mad driver? According to eyewitnesses, the driver was a lady who appeared to be in a rush towards her destination. This was incredibly hard to watch and it's a miracle that she managed to get away with it. Netizens’ reactions According to the Driver Improvement Points System (DIPS), reversing unnecessarily on roadways is a serious offence. If caught, the driver will be issued 6 demerit points and a composition fine of $200. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 4. Dear MCF bros, Got into an accident with a comfort taxi this evening (12th February 2015) at approx 1940 hrs at the intersection of Irrawaddy Road and Thomson Road, within the yellow box. Would like to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the accident and/or have captured this in your in-car camera, to come forward for assistance, please. My camera has chosen very conveniently to fail on me in this instance. Mods - Please shift this to an appropriate section if this isn't the right one. Thanks! Best Regards, Leslie Lai
