For today, it's the Mazda CX-30! So, what is the Mazda CX-30? A crossover? A Mazda 3 in taller boots? Let Jon tell you all about it! In the simplest of terms, this is what the Mazda CX-30 is. But if you still don't really understand what Jon means.... Yes. The CX-30 is the taller version of the Mazda 3 Hatchback. Mazda's Kodo design language is arguably one of the best design languages in the car industry, currently, at least to this writer. The Kodo design language carries itself around pretty well, from sedan to SUV, and it almost seems like Mazda can do no wrong with it. Not the most generous boot capacity, admittedly. But, the CX-30 has a flat load floor! Perfect if you want to transport bigger or bulkier items like a bicycle or IKEA furniture. No weird hump in the middle of the car floor to give you difficulty. At Jon's height, he still has a decent amount of legroom. Not to mention, the leather in the CX-30 is quite a lovely colour. But yes, headroom is a drawback. Especially since there is a sunroof. So, taller people, do take note. Jon still has some headroom but it isn't much. This writer daresays Mazda is killing it with the design of the dashboard layout. Clean, simple lines with a rectangular screen positioned at an optimal angle, and with physical buttons for the important things like air-conditioning and music control. It's really intuitive. Took the words right out of this writer's mouth you did, Jon. Well, with these power levels, you won't be winning many traffic light races. But hey, it's more than enough for overtaking on the expressway, plus Mazda's SkyActiv engines do make their cars feel a little more brisk than what the spec sheet claims to be. For this video review, it's the Skoda Superb Laurin & Klement! In case you don't already know, Laurin & Klement are the surnames of Skoda's founders, and the brand pays homage to them by labelling the top specification of certain models with Laurin & Klement, to reflect the slightly special status of that particular car being the top trim level. And Idris will be showing you how superb the Skoda Superb is. And yes, if the words Skoda Superb ring a bell.... If there's one thing Skoda has really gotten right these past few years, it's how increasingly handsome their cars have become. To this writer, the attractiveness of the front fascia is balanced and not all in your face "look at me, I'm handsome". There's a certain amount of restraint and this writer certainly appreciates it. And like mentioned above, any Skoda with the Laurin & Klement badge is the top trim level of that particular Skoda model. Yes, it's pronounced "schko-da", not "sko-da" For a car in its class, the Superb really has a superb amount of boot space, 625 litres worth. That should be more than enough for an extended run to the supermarket with a detour for even more shopping. At Idris' height, look at the amount of legroom he still has. That really is generous. Trickling down from the higher echelon brands in the Volkswagen Audi Group, the virtual cockpit, which initially debuted in Audi models, has now made its way to Skoda. In case anyone is wondering, Julian is the editor of sgCarMart. And this writer agrees with him, ventilated seats are very nice indeed. There is just something so pleasing about having cold air blown at your back and backside while you sit, and getting out of the car without a slightly sweaty back. Especially in our climate, ventilated seats are a must. Pity not many cars have them still. And yes, Idris has said it. Want to find out more? For this video review, we have the Land Rover Defender 110 Mild Hybrid 3.0 P400! Idris breaks it down for us on what the new Land Rover Defender 110 is all about. If anything, you won't be mistaking the Land Rover Defender for anything less than it is, especially given its size. Make a mental note and be a little more careful when you're entering certain car parks with this car. Boot space is generous in the Land Rover Defender, with 857 litres of space for all your bags and such. Also, unlike most cars, the Defender's boot doesn't open upwards, it swings outward towards the right. Unconventional, but keeping with the tradition on how a Defender's boot has always been opened. The Land Rover Defender comes with 4 USB charging ports in the rear alone, on top of the 12V socket. Running out of battery for your precious smartphone is unlikely to happen once you are riding in the Land Rover Defender. Not to mention, rear climate controls, which is a true benefit given Singapore's hot and humid weather. Perhaps one of the coolest features on the new Land Rover Defender is the digital rear view mirror. On top of the traditional rear view mirror, the Defender also comes with a camera mounted on the roof that provides a rear view image to the driver in the cabin. Idris puts it in the best way, that the Land Rover Defender is not meant to be sporty. But take it off-road, and that's where you will see its true prowess shine. sgCarMart's video reviews are back! Finally after more than a month of quiet we are back with another review! And first up after our long break is the Audi A1 Sportback. Oh right, and its only Julian reviewing the car this time round, you know, cause sgCarMart is being socially responsible and all. The Audi A1 Sportback may have a decent boot by supermini standards, but looks like that boot is still just enough to make Julian work up a good sweat when loading in the child seat haha! And it looks like it has a pretty glam cockpit as well! And what about the drive? Well, I think this shot pretty much sums up the experience behind the wheel of the A1. So, if perhaps you're looking for something with a premium badge but is still compact enough to squeeze into any parallel lot at Little India, could this be what you have always been looking for? The Pagani Huayra is one of the highly anticipated cars this year. The successor to the highly successful Zonda, the Huayra has large shoes to fill, and it didn't disappoint. Honestly I am not sold on the styling. Though the car looks absolutely fabulous in red and I highly think it should have been the launch colour instead of the metallic silverish colour, the front facia doesn't attract me like the Zonda did. Things that I like are the active aerodynamics flaps that reminds me of airplanes, the side mirrors that were inspired by the eye of a female and the rear with the iconic 4 central exhausts. I like the the gullwing doors which is refreshing compared to the usual Lamborghini scissor doors or the McLaren butterfly doors. The interior looks avant-garde yet flashy and loud and reminds me alot of Dutch supercar Spyker. The one thing I can't comment is the performance, well because neither have I nor my colleagues at SGcarmart have driven one, though given the opportunity we would love to. I have been spending some time on the web reading and watching reviews of the Huayra and though of sharing 2 videos that caught my interest. One is from the self confessed Petrol Head Jay Leno and its has Horacio Pagani himself in the video to explain the car. The second reviews comes from a guy named Chris Harris from the Drive network who shares his honest experience with the Huayra, more of a video blog style, including his initial frustrations at the Italian airport.
