  1. Now this will probably open up a can of worms or two. Who do you reckon is in the wrong? The cyclist or the driver of the Audi? Filmed by the cyclist on 5th of July along mandai road, a white Audi A1 could be seen pulling out of a small lane and into the path of a cyclist who was doing less than 30km/h on his bike. According to the source SG Road Vigilante, the guys there reckoned the car did not notice or did not care about the cyclist, barely cutting him off. What do you guys think? Was it a close call or an error on the part of the Audi driver? Or was this a simple case of the cyclist letting his ego take control of him and not riding defensively for his own safety? Let us know in the comments below!
  2. sgCarMart's video reviews are back! Finally after more than a month of quiet we are back with another review! And first up after our long break is the Audi A1 Sportback. Oh right, and its only Julian reviewing the car this time round, you know, cause sgCarMart is being socially responsible and all. The Audi A1 Sportback may have a decent boot by supermini standards, but looks like that boot is still just enough to make Julian work up a good sweat when loading in the child seat haha! And it looks like it has a pretty glam cockpit as well! And what about the drive? Well, I think this shot pretty much sums up the experience behind the wheel of the A1. So, if perhaps you're looking for something with a premium badge but is still compact enough to squeeze into any parallel lot at Little India, could this be what you have always been looking for? Watch the full video to find out more!
  3. Looks like Premium has quietly brought the facelifted Audi A1 Sportback in. Anyone looked at it, or found out what its equipped with? Currently only one engine option listed; 1.0L TFSI. Could be really economical! Promotional pricing now only $117k, which is remarkable for an Audi. Pricelist is $137k.
  4. After making its debut in the MK 7 Golf Sport, VW's new 1.4 TSI with cylinder deactivation has found its way into the hoods of the Audi A1 and A3. The primary goal of the system is to reduce fuel consumption significantly by temporarily shutting off two of the four cylinders during low to mid loads. The greatest benefits are realised while driving at constant moderate speeds. The 1.4-litre unit is also fitted with a start-stop system. The 1.4-litre engine pumps out 138bhp at 5,000 rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1,500 and 3,500 rpm. Installed in the Audi A1, the mini hatchback with S-tronic goes from 0 to 100km/h in 7.9 seconds while the Sportback version takes just 0.1 second longer. For the Audi A3 and A3 Sportback, the century sprint takes 8.3 seconds and 8.4 seconds respectively. Looking at how the new engine replaces the 'Twincharger' in the Golf Sport, it won't come as a surprise if the same thing happens for the A1 S-Line. Volkswagen is the first carmaker to implement cylinder deactivation technology in a turbocharged four-cylinder engine in large-scale production.

    The ultimate Audi A1

[extract] If you think that the 185bhp twincharged Audi A1 is the fastest production version, you have not heard of the A1 Quattro. As its name would imply, the A1 Quattro comes equipped with the automaker's legendary all-wheel-drive system. The A1 Quattro will be a limited production model which will only find 333 owners. The latest A1 is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbocharged direct-injected four cylinder power plant used in the S3. It puts out 252bhp at 6000 rpm and 258lb-ft of torque from 2500 to 4500 rpm. Audi claims that AWD A1 will match the S3
  7. [extract] Audi A1 fans who are looking for a more practical version of the super mini hatchback has just gotten their wish fulfilled. Courtesy of Russian website Cars.ru, the production form of the 5-door model has been revealed for the very first time. The German carmaker had teased the five-door body style at the 2008 Paris Motor Show with the A1 Sportback Concept. According to the author of the article, the exterior dimensions of the Sportback remain almost the unchanged, which means we can expect the car to measure at 3.95m long, 1.42m tall and 1.75m wide with a wheelbase of 2.47m. The exterior styling is not going to send your jaws dropping after you have seen the regular A1. There is nothing special other than a roof that can be specified with contrasting colors.
  8. Totally insane. This is what I think the MTM Audi A1 Nardo Edition is if I sum in up in just two words. Every year European tuners flock to the Nardo high speed test track for a round of high speed showdowns and for a showcase of their latest performance products. You get big names like G-power, Ruf, 9ff, and so on showcasing their latest test cars and show cars. But MTM has decided to attend with Audi's latest supermini. Albeit one with 500ps and can hit 201mph (324km/h). Imagine a car the size of the new Suzuki Swift pumping out that much power.....through its front wheels. Insane isn't it? What MTM have done is plonk in Audi's 2.5liter 5 cylinder that one usually finds located in the Audi TT-RS and used all of its magic to bring the power up to 500ps from 340ps and a whopping 600Nm of torque but kept it front-wheel drive. It must be as it is gravity defying in that the tiny (still) front-drive Audi A1 can accelerate from a standstill to 100km/h in 4.5seconds and go on to 324km/h. In such a small car doing anything above 300km/h must be like riding a bicycle downhill at breakneck speed without any safety gear or even any clothes on. Imagine this tiny tot thundering (I wonder if thunder can be this small) around the Nardo high speed ring surrounded by 9ff Porsches as well as tuned Mercedes SLRs. It must be David slaying many Goliaths at one go. This is the only Audi A1 which I truly fancy. The MTM Audi A1 Nardo Edition. Enough said.

  10. The Audi A1 has been named What Car? Car of the Year, beating strong competition from the Ford Mondeo and Seat Alhambra. Last year, it won What Car? Reader Award for the most exciting car to be launched in 2010. Audi's smallest car to date went on sale at the end of 2010 and has already proved incredibly popular with buyers. The hugely popular Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 140 Zetec picked up two awards for Best Family Car and Best Estate Car. The Jaguar XF was crowned Best Executive Car for the fourth time for its looks, drivability and pricing. The Volkswagen Golf won Small Family Car for the fifth year running, a feat matched by the Mercedes S-Class which was named Best Luxury Car. The judges praised the Mercedes limousine for its lavish equipment levels and its class-leading blend of ride quality and handling. This year's Reader Award went to the new Range Rover Evoque, ahead of its sales date. The British-built, all-electric Nissan Leaf was awarded the new Ultra-Low-Carbon-Car Award. 11. [extract] German tuner MTM has released a set of photos previewing its upcoming tuning packages for the entire A1 range. MTM promises performance upgrades on all available engines for the A1 and has released details for two of its offerings. For the 1.6 TDI diesel with 105 PS (77 kW), MTM will offer an output upgrade to 121 PS (89 kW) while boosting torque to 282 Nm from the original 250 Nm. The
  12. German firm Senner Tuning has released a new line of styling and performance enhancements for the freshly introduced Audi A1 supermini with the 1.6 TDI diesel engine. The tuner starts by massaging the 1.6-liter diesel with a recalibrated ECU, boosting output from 105HP to 140HP. Peak torque also climbs from 250Nm to 310Nm. A new sports exhaust system with a pair of 90 mm tail pipes and an upgraded KW suspension kit is also part of the package, while the car's stance is made more aggressive with a set of 18-inch Barracuda Voltec T6 light alloy wheels wrapped in 225/35 R18 Hankook S1 rubber. On the inside, numerous trim options are available with customized leather upholstery.

    ABT tunes A1

German tuning firm Abt Sportsline has developed a new package for the Audi A1. The car features an aerodynamics kit, updated exhaust, revised suspension, new wheels, and performance enhancement. External upgrades on the car are available in either brushed aluminum, grass green or lavender. Each color corresponds to Abt's three new dec
  14. Not even the sleek and clean-cut car manufacturers, Audi, can escape being laughed at. Their consistent minimalist advertising campaign took a plunge for the worst when they decided to go a little mad. And this is what happened. To build up some hype before their launch of the new Mini-rival, the A1, Audi decided to do something rather extreme. They took the A1 and drove it up and down a specially constructed half pipe in the Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels to showcase the car's superior maneuverability and sense of humour (though I personally don't think any Audi has a sense of humour, they all look too serious and much more like a uniform for businessmen). Well, the good news is that Audi finally has got a laugh from the public while their quest for perfection has stopped short in their minor accident, which was rather embarrassing for them as the car rolled over while going up the half pipe. The over enthusiastic driver and a passenger were quickly freed from the car and luckily no one was hurt. I think if anything this is one of the best publicity stunts Audi could ever hope for. The car wasn't damaged, no one was hurt, everyone just has a laugh for their ridiculousness. Maybe, they got their madness from their Italian counterparts...Lamborghini.
  15. [extract] Audi has come up with seven showcases of styling for the Audi A1 which were made to be displayed at the 29th Annual Worthersee Tour in Austria (May 12-15, 2010). The car above is a yellow airport version of it. According to Audi, these Audi A1 are
  16. So we now have heard that Audi is about to enter the premium small car market with the Audi A1. The current market leaders of this market segment are the BMW Mini, the Fiat 500 and to some extent the Alfa Mito. These cars allow car manufacturers to charge a whole lot more for the same small package and of course, Audi being the premium marque in the VW-Audi stable is their contender. But after scrutinizing the pictures it is my opinion that Audi is trying too hard with those flowing A to C pillar 'different colour from the body' scheme. It isn't a design cue or anything like that. It's just colour over sheet metal. Imagine the SMART car with its interchangeable panels. Innovative, but the main highlight about that car, or even the Mini, or even any Fiat 500 is the timeless classic design of these cars, which Audi doesn't have. One look at any of the cars mentioned and you can recognize it. The Audi A1 on the other hand looks like any small hatch with an Audi nose stuck to it and those different coloured pillars. The only plus point are those funky looking LED lights, which are really funky. To prove a point, we now have here is the Mitsubishi A1 (a Colt badly photoshopped by yours truly). Stick an Audi grill, paint the pillars, put on aftermarket LED strips (the one like the A4 but not as chic as the A1) and you have something that looks somewhat like the A1. If you consume a couple of Flaming Lamborghini's and then squint a little that is. Okay, it may look exactly like the A1 pictured above, but what I think I've stumbled upon here is a new trend. The supposedly trendy (Ah Beng) like people who like to trick up their cars will now follow the A1's flowing different coloured pillars. And that's about it. The point is, flowing different coloured pillars is just a fad, that will be followed by people till they're bored of it. And then its back to the usual normal coloured A to C pillars for all. But I dig those funky LEDs anyway. This is the actual selling point of the A1 regardless what Audi tells us. - Fiat 500 - Mini One - Alfa Mito

    Audi A1 teaser

This is Audi's idea of a teaser shot of their upcoming subcompact A1. While most automakers like to shroud the car in a sea of black with just the headlights on, or drape a cloth over the entire body to reveal just the grille, Audi have decided to vandalise walls. The teaser shot doesn't say very much; the signature Audi front grille seems very much unchanged except at the edges, a prominent front end and Audi's bold design is nothing new. To me its like they were more interested in seeing the graffiti artist paint the thing rather than actually show the world what their new A1 could look like. Theres even a video! Nonetheless, this Audi is set "to repeat the success that we have enjoyed with the A3 in the compact segment. With the A1, we
