not a good news for passengers.

Indeed not a good news for rider. Next time grab might become like taxi, rider no choice but to be under their mercy.

grab is quite expensive for me in past 2 weeks, 30% to 70% more. I took about 10 rides with uber for these 2 cny day.

 

The surcharge is not high for uber, some time was half of grab. I tried to book grab a few time but failed to get a car, I use grab cos one account can only book one car at a time, I need 2 cars so have to book grab at the same time.

Someone posted this on Facebook. Yesterday 1st day cny at 1pm.. Look at how crazy grab price is?

 

I think grab need to improve on surge algorithm. With uber I believe will cost maybe about 40 bucks the most as that time the surge goes up to about 2.4 times in certain area.. Not like grab the fare is about 4 times more..

 

So uber had done a better job in smoothen out the surge pricing as compared to grab that surge pricing could go haywire.

 

Like yesterday with uber at 1pm.. Price is not so ridiculous as grab.

 

​Btw 25 bucks is after 20% commission from Uber. So before 20% commission, the fare will be about 30bucks, that is still a lot cheaper then grab yesterday at 1 pm with that amount of distance.

Most of the time is not much great difference. However when demand is super high. That's when there is a striking difference. Grab really need to work to improve on surge algorithm so that it will not spike so crazy. Uber did a better job in terms of smoothen out the surge when demand is super high.

I do find Uber fares to be lower.

For my case, i find uber and grab not much great difference on their fare.

Uber surge, I feel, is not very high.

I just picked up one guy at Harbourfront, surge is 1.6x.

He had quite a few baggage, which I said may not fit my boot.

But he was determined not to let me go and try to fit everything in.

He said he already waited one hour.

..meaning 1.6x surge is nothing, it should have been much higher.

 

Later, I came back to pick up another 2 riders at Vivocity, surge also only 1.6x. I guess these riders are lucky.

The taxi queue there is like 50m long, with no taxi in sight !

Vivo taxi stand queue default always like very long with little taxi de.

There are another pick up point at vivo city, located at lvl 2 between vicocity and harborfront centre. There will have more taxi queue over there.

That one for drop off only, taxi not allowed to pick up passengers from there.

Lvl 2 is dropped off, but right below, outside McDonald, I thought that one is taxi pickup point.

Sometimes see long queue of taxis.
